My Yiayia used to make this when something quick was needed. She’d send our papou to the garden and it was so yummy! We cook it now and brings back such lovely memories! Bless you Demitra❤️‼️
OMG forgive me ,this is my favourite of the favourite one of the summer dish ever!Very healthy and very delicious,my stomach’s best friend,my whole family love this dish !!!❤️❤️❤️
My grocery store had some nice looking fresh green beans yesterday so I picked up a bag and the first thought I had was to make this. I love Greek food.
@@DimitrasDishes That was nice. What is most surprising to me is that after hubby brought home this mountain of string beans from a farm, after making the dish, it's almost half gone. Kuddos to you for sharing this amazing recipe. Thank you.
Thank you for reminding me of this dish again, it really takes me back. Growing up in Australia during my teenage years we'd often discuss (at school) what we had for dinner last night. Well, you try explaining string beans with potatoes in kokinisto sauce mopped up with crusty fresh lagana, vienna whatever bread. Although never an outcast, I had this need to paint the picture of how good this dish was without the use of a single bit of scrap meat (and I'm no vegetarian) Thanks again Dimitra! Takes me back. In fact, I'm proud - we rock!
This looks so good I'm going to make tomorrow it's my day off only thing I will add is a bit of sugar the tomato is sour most of the time but I love all your dishes.Thamk you😍
Great recipe, thank you Dimitri! My Greek grocer has pitted Kalamata olives. Thinking of adding them either at final stage of cooking or as a garnish on the finished plate. Any thoughts?
Just stumbled across this and it brought back so many memories! Question: I had to attend to something and was I interrupted between steps 3 (covered braising) and 4 (uncovered reducing). Will I be OK taking the pot off the heat, leaving it covered, and resuming w step 4 ( reducing at high heat uncovered) in 90 minutes? Thanks again, will be investigating your other recipes!
Had it for dinner tonight. Definitely a keeper. Only change I made was to add a little sugar since the tinned tomatoes I used were somewhat sour. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Dimitra, Is there a printed recipe option on this platform, I can’t seem to find it if it is an option? Am going to have my first go at this recipe tonight, thank you for the video 👍
Definitely will try this! I make your spinach and rice now all the time!! So good. How about showing us cabbage rolls? With the rice and meat inside in a tomato sauce? Not sure how Greek that is lol but I bet you could do it!
I made this a few months back. Very good. I will try your version. More meals like this please. Can you describe rusic potatoes characteristics. It is not a name used here in Australia. We have a good variety of potatoes here but perhaps not this variety. Are they a little flourary but still from when boiled? Or are they very flowery and great for mashing?
Russet potatoes are very easy to find here. They're actually great for baking, mashing, and French fries! They have a dark brown skin and white flesh. Use any potato. I've made this with red potatoes too and its equally delicious :)
My mom always made this all the time when I was growing up. I wish if you can do okra (Mpamies) recipe if you get a chance. Not now. I'll definitely make this.
My sister told me that my aunt in Greece made okra and it was so delicious. My aunt made it with onions and other healthy stuff. I made this yesterday and send it to you on Instagram.
@@DimitrasDishes You've probably done this already? But if you haven't, I plead for YOUR version of Chicken & Bamies sto Fourno ( or anything that comes close to that.)
A friend of mine had made this and brought some over for me. She'd cooked chicken thighs with it. It was delicious. But I'm going to cook your version, Dimitra, without chicken. But one thing - can we use frozen green beans instead? I will look up your recipe now to see if you've mentioned frozen green beans. And when I cook it, I will upload a photo of it. Many thanks, Dimitra. Love your recipes.
I mAde this last night after i found my store had beautiful fresh green beans. I only had crumbled feta in the fridge so i used that. We LOVED it. Hmm i cant figure out how to get a photo in the comments.
I can taste it from here 😭 My papu would always make this for me. And I really want to learn how to do it so I can have some again and share with others how delicious it is 🥹 the only difference is he would have beef to it a very tender juicy beef 😭 but man just looking at this I can literally taste it
My grandma used to make green beans and new potatoes in a peppery, buttery cream sauce. Of course she was not Greek but she paired them together in the spring. I have never cooked with dill, I wonder if my two Greek guys will enjoy it!

Have to agree Dimitra, dill is such a great herb. Adds such a nice sweetness to dishes and salads. So under-rated.
Just the recipe inspiration I needed! I was looking for a recipe with beans and potatoes, and this is perfect!
Love your dishes, so simple but elegant.
My favorite Greek meal. I will make it for dinner. It looks delicious. Thank you for this great recipe, and yes Feta on the side. Yasou

"What you've done is amazing." Thank you Dimitra. That's a direct quote from my son. We all flipped over this dish.
I'm honored that your son approved :) Kuddos to you for making it :)

One of my favourites too. I love it with chicken. My mum cooks this with chicken thighs and pork ribs.
We ate it vegetarian or with beef. Delicious!!

I love to add a few carrots for sweetness and colour to this.
Amazing Recipe I just love it, so simple so yummy 😋

Looks great. Was looking for some more vegetarian meals and this fits the bill.

cabbage Rolls are coming soon. we make them with a creamy lemon sauce. I'll teach it that way first then with the tomato sauce :)
Sounds great!!

yes!! :)
Made this and will make it again.
Awesome 👍🌝🎈
Sounds like something I would love. I would just add a big squeeze of fresh lemon.
Where are you from? And where are you living?I love φασολακια λαδερα!Greetings from Thessaloniki.
My mother-in-law adds a little cinnamon to hers. It adds a interesting taste in the background.
I make this quite often and sometimes add some left over cooked lamb or pork (non vegetarian) which adds a little different flavor.

Yuuuuuuuum!
I like it
I love it. can you show us this with like lamb??
How many ounces are the tomatoes and how many pounds of green beans do you use.
I am not a fan of green beans, but this dish may convert me!
Yum
Can i use canned or frozen beans?
Works great with frozen beans, also add some carrot .
@@harrykazianis3219 Thank you.

you know when the sauce is orange its good to go!! dip dip.. t
I miss my mom's cooking. I think she may have also used bay leaves.
In Arabic, we call it "Fasolia and Patates"
very similar to the Greek pronunciation
WOW!! That's so cool. In Greek, they are also called fasolia or fasolakia me patates.
