    My Yiayia used to make this when something quick was needed. She’d send our papou to the garden and it was so yummy! We cook it now and brings back such lovely memories! Bless you Demitra❤️‼️

    Have to agree Dimitra, dill is such a great herb. Adds such a nice sweetness to dishes and salads. So under-rated.

      @@DimitrasDishes That was nice. What is most surprising to me is that after hubby brought home this mountain of string beans from a farm, after making the dish, it's almost half gone. Kuddos to you for sharing this amazing recipe. Thank you.

    Thank you for reminding me of this dish again, it really takes me back. Growing up in Australia during my teenage years we'd often discuss (at school) what we had for dinner last night. Well, you try explaining string beans with potatoes in kokinisto sauce mopped up with crusty fresh lagana, vienna whatever bread. Although never an outcast, I had this need to paint the picture of how good this dish was without the use of a single bit of scrap meat (and I'm no vegetarian) Thanks again Dimitra! Takes me back. In fact, I'm proud - we rock!

    Great recipe, thank you Dimitri! My Greek grocer has pitted Kalamata olives. Thinking of adding them either at final stage of cooking or as a garnish on the finished plate. Any thoughts?

    Just stumbled across this and it brought back so many memories! Question: I had to attend to something and was I interrupted between steps 3 (covered braising) and 4 (uncovered reducing). Will I be OK taking the pot off the heat, leaving it covered, and resuming w step 4 ( reducing at high heat uncovered) in 90 minutes? Thanks again, will be investigating your other recipes!

    I made this a few months back. Very good. I will try your version. More meals like this please. Can you describe rusic potatoes characteristics. It is not a name used here in Australia. We have a good variety of potatoes here but perhaps not this variety. Are they a little flourary but still from when boiled? Or are they very flowery and great for mashing?

    • @DimitrasDishes
      @DimitrasDishes  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Russet potatoes are very easy to find here. They're actually great for baking, mashing, and French fries! They have a dark brown skin and white flesh. Use any potato. I've made this with red potatoes too and its equally delicious :)

But one thing - can we use frozen green beans instead? I will look up your recipe now to see if you've mentioned frozen green beans. And when I cook it, I will upload a photo of it. Many thanks, Dimitra. Love your recipes.
