    Hi Chad, great video. What would you say are the best polarised sunglasses?

      @barrybigplums  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In honesty Costa are the best but pretty darn expensive

      I have hear of Sunray …..Tom bell who owns sunray is a bit of a character …. However I have never had any issues with him (I few people have or so I have been told) sunray lines cast like cannons due to them being overweighted (look at the grain weights on the website) there have been a few reports of durability issues on the lines but after owning and using the lines in the past I have never personally seen these issues

      It’s the airflo superflo Stillwater line …. It casts like a cannon ….. much less memory than the previous superdri lines too

    What set up do you use at lechlade
    Good rod line also best weight in both
    What size leader do you use
    Looking at having a day but not sure on set up

      I personally like using a five weight most of the time but in the winter when you have to huck big flies around or get big distance from the bank it’s probably safer the recommend a seven weight outfit …. Floating line 12 foot leader and defo stick either a fast intermediate or di3 sinkin line in your bag all the fish I caught were deeper on this trip….. on a deep blowdown on the floater and the other two were on a fast intermediate so that was at least six foot down ….. get a good quality 8lb fluorocarbon ….. best on the market is riverbed grand max but it’s expensive

    Can you give me the name of your rod and length and what price please at 76 I am thinking of starting trout fishing again thank you.

      Hello mate, I was using the ten foot 7 weight airflo airlite v2 rod with the airflo superflo Stillwater taper wf7 floating fly line it’s a pretty decent rod … ten foot does increase the swing rate of the rod and may be a bit tiring on a full session being an older fellow … it’s defo something to consider …. A 9 and a half foot rod sits right in the middle and can do everything almost as well and the swing rate is much much less when casting …. What’s your budget mate and I might be able to recommend a few things?

      @barrybigplums  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was indeed mark …l a very very under rated rod … you can do everything on the 10 foot seven weight

    Hi guys just a question for the wider fishing community here …. What’s the etiquette for anglers leaving their rod, reels and nets in swims while they go for a bacon sandwich and cup of tea? I felt bad as I saw the spot was empty (I did notice he rod left there if I’m honest but it was empty at least for a few mins before I fished there) and it was an old boy who came back to me hooking into a fish after his cup of tea….. I’m not there to upset anyone or anything I just wanted to see if it’s considered bad practice from my side or not? I have been places where people dump their gear before even paying to fish to reserve the best area’s for example ….. Lechlade was packed yesterday so finding a spot was an issue for everyone …. Just a question for wider viewer base here …all the best chad

    • @barrybigplums
      @barrybigplums  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Btw he came back just as I hooked into the fish so I had to play and land the fish before I moved

    • @jamesphillips9792
      @jamesphillips9792 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn’t worry. That’s one of the (few) things I dislike about this sport. If you leave the swim then it’s fair game in my opinion. It also depends how long they were there prior to leaving? I feel a good half hour then move on. If the old boy literally just got there and needed to go to the toilet then yea it’s understandable

    • @brandoneloff5255
      @brandoneloff5255 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not on in my opinion! You can’t reserve/safe spots by leaving gear. If you are not at the swim fishing then allow someone else to do it. I will move their stuff away and fish

    • @jeremysmithers1984
      @jeremysmithers1984 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t think I would touch someone else gear as some get offended and could say you’ve broken it.
      But yes if busy and there’s no one on it jump on it.
      Or unless they are walking back towards the swim.

      Thank you that’s a great help
      I use Rio intermediate line so that would be as good as a di3 no

    Nothing wrong with putting your gear out before you pay, there is such a thing as a queue, if you're first in the car park or outside the gate, then you have first pick and you can only put your gear on the selected pontoon, some guys try it on with, Oh my son or my mate is coming later, not on. Some guys run in with three landing nets and chuck one on each selected platform, not on.
    A lot of fisheries have a sign to say, If you leave the pontoon, take your gear off it, some guys have an hour break.
    Quite within your rights to fish on it, if no-one is using it.
