Just a tip, I always ziptie or hose clamp 2 rubber gloves over the end of the transmission when I remove the drive shaft. It saves the having to clean it up, and if your putting it back in you don't have to replace the trans fluid. That said Keep up the good work!

Did you have to weld lower motor mounts to frame to put the ls engine in.If memory is correct the original 57 v8 had a mount on the front of the engine.
Hey great video, I have a 57 2dr post with a 265V8 and a 2 sp power glide trans. I'm getting ready to pull the old motor out. I have been tossing around the idea of putting in a LS. I was curious to get your input or recommendations on what would be the best options, I'm trying to go on a budget too. But the only thing kind of scaring me away me from doing the LS is what seems like all the extra wiring and computer and poss reprogramming the PCM to make it work that needs to go with it. Is it just as easy as tucking the PCM in some where and just getting power to the LS? or what might the kinks be I might run into along the way I guess is what I'm asking. thanks
What kinda motor trans setup do u have in your nova....I gotta 74 that I cloned into a 72 with a 370" lq9 4l65e, still has the peg leg freeway geared 10 bolt 2.73. .......rear end upgrades are next!!.........how did you get the back side windows on the 57 in there too look so factory? ?....u did an awesome job deleting those rear doors

This is a turboglide car, the ill fated 3 speed auto that is rare today. Is it still in this car? Has a 150 back seat and radio delete plate. Impressive bodywork.
I'm old enough to remember when cars of the 30's and 40's were considered valuable. My neighbor 8 houses down in 1965 offered me a whole red & white '57 chevy convertible (with 80,000 on the clock) and a fair top free because he pulled out the 283 Cu. and wanted to put it in a chevy II. I didn't want it because I didn't have a motor for it and anyway for $75 bucks I bought a whole 1957 Ford skyliner hard top convertible with a running engine! (6 cylinders back then were considered "old man" engines and noOne wanted them).
We both have small shop issues. I have a 46 Ford truck and no room in the shop for it but hey, I like the progress you have made. Enjoy your videos and still love the nova.
Well Dan, You more balls than brains working in a space only big enough for a honey badger to dig in but you got it done and I am proud of you for seeing the progress. I'm thinking since its your money I am offering to spend, maybe a wiring disconnect for the harness that goes across the front so it kinda hooks up like trailer wires or something you can plug or unplug and get that stuff out of the way when removing stuff.. just saying cause after its over, you can just unplug athen pull stuff out ... quick change.. something like that. I like the shout out that mrhevyshevy gave you as he sounds impressed with your work. I sent him that condensed link like three times so he would be sure to get it case he just looked at the mailbag here and there. Answering all these is a full time job on the comments as you well know by now. Wish I was there doing grunt work as there is shit to mop like fluids that get away and antifreeze that comes out after you drain five times, it pours more out stuff, you got the picture. Looks good, maybe the radiator will fit on the other side of the support now and you can weld the support back together, I can't wait to see you two drag race each other in these cars.

If you quarter turn the oil filler tube you can remove the fill tube and install the cap from the tube back on the valve cover. If you didn't like the tall tube

That looks like a drive by wire throttle body? If so did you get the gas pedal with the engine? If you use that intake with a drive by cable tb you will need to rig up a bracket for the cable

Dude I'm jealous lol so I got a question for you I was thinking about doing a motor swap in my four-door 57 but the only engine that I already have to throw in it came out of a 2007 Monte Carlo SS it's the 5.3 L LS4. What are your thoughts on if I was to do that in the future I know I have a big project ahead of me but like I said before your inspiration on 4 door to 2 door conversion really inspired me to do so. I'm hoping by mid-January I could start the process but I figured I would ask what your thoughts would be of an LS4 swap into it.
sounds like a bad ass project. Honestly this is my first LS swap and I know just enough to get in trouble. I'm sure the internet is full of answers. my advice would be to do as much research as you can.

Make sure you remove the spacer at the back of the crank if you're not running a 4L80 or something with the same depth. The first time i did a 6.0 swap in 2008, i didn't know you had to remove that to go on a 4L60e and jammed the converter into the pump, which basically wrecked the whole trans. EDIT: Disregard. I forgot the LQ9 came with a 4L65e and doesn't have the spacer... but for future reference if you get an LQ4.....
Another item to touch face with. Make sure your distances and space between crank flange and torque converter and flywheel are all the same. you may need a flat flywheel and a crank spacer
I’ve never installed an LS in anything it wasn’t designed to be in already so I’m no help. I would’ve just stuffed a mild BBC in that car cause I’m sorta old school. You should look into a small radiant gas heater for your shop. They aren’t crazy expensive aside from running gas lines to the garage. I looked into it not long ago. Not sure what that’d do to your house insurance rates tho. I want to put a wood stove in my shop but that’s not allowed here unless I want to tear up my insurance policy. Good luck with the swap man.
Man you got a lot done in a short amount of time. You could put new nickle copper lines in I guess? They dont rust and a dual cylinder brake master would be nice.

I noticed that you have a drive by wire intake. There are a couple of approaches to this, #1 go get the electronic gas pedal out of the vehicle that the engine came from along with the TAC module or # 2 remove the throttle body and replace it with a cable driven throttle body. Look for a PCM that has service number 12200411, this box can be used with drive by wire, or drive by cable, just tell the person that tunes your box what you have so he can turn on whatever setup you use. He can also delete things such as EGR, AIR, Purge, A/C, cats, rear O2 sensors, non electronic trans, and VATS. PCM of North Carolina did my PCM flash, really good people, they have a quick turn around. I got the HOT Rod startup done to my box done. Fill out the form on their web site, drop the PCM in a box with contact info, and they will fix you up.
Great vid Dan , the valve covers came out pretty decent . Just a lil tid bit . When you are placing the spark plug wires on , make sure the leads are fully on the spark plugs and onto coils otherwise it can cause some head aches / when under a driving load . I guess the computer gets a lil angry lol . Cheers

They sell plastic plugs to slide in the trans to keep the fluid inside and not on the floor. 7 peice kit about $20 to fit just about any transmission

6.0s have a flat flexplate with a spacer behind it and doesnt need that convertor spacer

Ls4 has 60 degree bellhousing. Might limit transmission choices.

As long as the rubber hasn't separated from the metal, I've personally never had an issue reusing that style of gasket.

He can also delete things such as EGR, AIR, Purge, A/C, cats, rear O2 sensors, non electronic trans, and VATS. PCM of North Carolina did my PCM flash, really good people, they have a quick turn around. I got the HOT Rod startup done to my box done. Fill out the form on their web site, drop the PCM in a box with contact info, and they will fix you up.
i also have a cable throttle body and im goign with the holley term x. hopefully thatll make life easier

Great vid Dan , the valve covers came out pretty decent . Just a lil tid bit . When you are placing the spark plug wires on , make sure the leads are fully on the spark plugs and onto coils otherwise it can cause some head aches / when under a driving load . I guess the computer gets a lil angry lol . Cheers

i have a th400 if i blow though the th350. Ive seen a bunch of people that use the th350's so im hoping it will last, plus i dont think Dani will be roasting tires to much ahah
Love the build! Being from Wisconsin, we never drive our old cars in the salt. Aren't you worried about driving the Nova in the salt and letting it sit all winter or is there no salt on the roads up there?

Enjoyed the video, just a suggestion locate the coil packs to the firewall, and people will be looking twice and it gives a cleaner look. Just my opinion, thanks Bill in W.V.
