LOL
It's been a year since I first watched this documentary. I keep coming back to it and even used clips of it for personal work. there is something about it the captivates me. it is like being transported to a foreign but very familiar world. one with great colors in a very grim life. it made me realize to be thankful for where I am now and also to take inspiration from works of the past and to see how much more colorful jeepneys were before my time. thank you very much for making this almost 40 years ago and posting it in the internet so that a youth like my self may enjoy it. this documentary has made a huge impression on me and what I want to do with my life.
@@iIIusive I agree, the stainless steel jeepneys are ugly as hell. I prefer the look of jeepneys from 1950s - 1970s. They're comparable to classic cars.

The fact that jeepneys since the 20th century were short to medium in length, until the 21st century, their bodies became extended even more to carry 28 people (Average capacity).
Sarao jeepneys so popular in the 70s and 80s...i was 6 or 7 yrs old karga ako ng daddy ko.. Busy that time sa work mommy ko regal films uso noon.. It was 1986..eda revolt 1986..
The best way to watch this probably, is without subtitles. it becomes more like a film than it is a documentary and having to rely on visual cues to understand the film and maybe even catch a few details upon re-watching. old documentaries are amazingly rewatchable
I hope english subs can be added so i can fully understand. Wonderfully shot; even if i don't understand German, i could somehow determine what life is like when put into his shoes.

So sad soon it will phase out due to the fact it is not eco friendly. Its emission is not good for our environment. Soon in metro manila, e-jeep.will replace the traditional jeep.
The long gone Sarao. Well today? All must really change. No more to Junk engines from Japan. The government should close all engines shops selling second hand engines and parts. Totally close it now.
First, Sarao Motors is still open and still producing jeepneys and other things. Second, half of the jeepneys have Japanese engines that are NOT surplus. And third, REAL modern jeepneys should look like a jeep itself, like a Wrangler Rubicon or an FJ Cruiser.
I feel like Jeepneys have overstayed their welcome now. From national icon to national burden. I hope the government find a solution to improve public transportation soon.
Jeepneys will be missed after they are long gone. Yeah, they pollute, engineering is crude, no safety whatsoever but that no one can argue that it is a Filipino icon.
navyblue 79 That is why jeepney modernization should still embed the iconic jeepney design, not some minibus-looking jeep that has no character. I'm all for jeepney modernization so long that it does continue to adopt its design, will not impede the livelihood of the operators and will not allow corporations to monopolize transportation.
@@LetsGoBowlingNikojeepney modernization must be meant for overcrowded urban areas like Manila. But suburban and provincial areas shall at least be there are still traditional jeepneys nearby.
This is one of an example why the filipinos especially those who live in poverty still in poverty. Why because of their habits having some time to spend to their vices rather than their needs at that time until now. This is why they are in that stagnant flow of life, until now many citizen living in poverty still doing this practices some atlease they woke up in reality. And sometimes we dont have the rights to blame our government, if in ourself and our families, we dont have any dicipline and atlease positive thingking for our better future.

Jeepneys nowadays are more than cool. They are now rad and more stylish-looking with a turbo installed. But they are mostly seen outside Manila.

Es hat sich im Grunde nichts verändert. Ausser das der Fahrpreis 13 mal höher ist als damals.
