I must say this is the BEST show TVB has ever produced. All actors are at their peak performances, the script is amazing (lots of life lessons philosophy to learn), soundtrack is amazing. The show is so memorable. You feel angry, sad, cry, laugh, hate, disgust together with the characters. Plus it's everyone, not just the main characters. Like the part when Bull King and Fan princess have to let go their son when he repent. The part when elder sister Spider Demon carried Centipede Demon to die together. Even Wukong, the all great powerful monkey king, has moments of sadness and feels helpless. The whole show is timeless and watchable by everyone.

Sad that the 1996 version was so short. I loved Dicky's version of Monkey King. His playfulness and comedic timing made the show really funny. The serious moments were engaging too. I noticed that the 1996 version had better graphics, which is odd.
I also like Dicky's version of monkey king. He just has that charm & just perfect for being the monkey king. Not that Benny's version is bad but I just love Dicky better.

I know the reason he left was because of a contract dispute but honestly, the company should have just paid him more. He made season 1 successful.

One of my favorite shows from childhood. When I came back from school, I would be looking forward to seeing it on tv. (Local tv channel in my country aired this in the evening.) I had so much fun watching Wukong and Bajie bickered. And felt sad when sometimes Tang Sanjang didn't believe in Wukong.

Yeah the song is so great. Everything the show ends I always hear this and it just sticks out more than the OPENING of season 2. Recently watched Journey to the West and after finishing the series, my dog passed away. Every time I hear this song, it always brings up a memorial of him. RIP :(

That why I haven't any modern khmer dubbed Chinese or Thai movies lately...miss TVBI company...Due to vhs multi copying and cd burner second hand saler or rent. Love the 90" :)
