I must say this is the BEST show TVB has ever produced. All actors are at their peak performances, the script is amazing (lots of life lessons philosophy to learn), soundtrack is amazing. The show is so memorable. You feel angry, sad, cry, laugh, hate, disgust together with the characters. Plus it's everyone, not just the main characters. Like the part when Bull King and Fan princess have to let go their son when he repent. The part when elder sister Spider Demon carried Centipede Demon to die together. Even Wukong, the all great powerful monkey king, has moments of sadness and feels helpless. The whole show is timeless and watchable by everyone.

One of my favorite shows from childhood. When I came back from school, I would be looking forward to seeing it on tv. (Local tv channel in my country aired this in the evening.) I had so much fun watching Wukong and Bajie bickered. And felt sad when sometimes Tang Sanjang didn't believe in Wukong.

I know this comment is 2 years old but i want to add on that Dicky Cheung made the monkey king. He was a main character so it is so strange to replace him. I know the reason he left was because of a contract dispute but honestly, the company should have just paid him more. He made season 1 successful.

No! Dicky Cheung is the best actor in Monkey King, he is a lively, strong, characterful and dominating monkey. Meanwhile, Benny Chan just pretends to be a weak monkey, he's like A chicken that shakes its head right and left, it doesn't know anything about the monkey king.
To me, this is the best Journey to the west at the story and action. Though the battles are not good edited. This is the only Journey to the west that make me sad (human version), Wu Kong and the teams plus some people in Jade Palace still better than remakes or movies.
The first film I watched was when I was four years old, and now I am twenty-seven years old .. memories that make me touched, I am Indonesian, good luck, your work will be remembered by us

Yeah the song is so great. Everything the show ends I always hear this and it just sticks out more than the OPENING of season 2. Recently watched Journey to the West and after finishing the series, my dog passed away. Every time I hear this song, it always brings up a memorial of him. RIP :(
