For everyone, who is confused: It all started, after the prophet Muhammad (s.a.v) died and the ummah looked for the next ruling person (Khalif), but not in a religious way only in a political way, because muhammad was and is the last sent prophet. Our prophet didn‘t name the next leader (Khalif), when he died. So the Shias said, that Hz. Ali (r.a.) should be the next Khalif (not prophet!). Nevertheless Sunnis wanted Hz. Abu Bekir (r.a.) to be the next Khalif. The rest are just political and cultural opinions, which got mixed up with time. So the hatred between the two started to grow, because we let ourselves separate from another and lose the bigger focus. The real meaning why we are on this planet. Islam means peace, so don‘t mix it up with hatred. It won‘t suit to ourselves.

@Remas Almusabeh honestly there's no point in arguing with them, the majority are so set in their beliefs that they are not even willing to consider other viewpoints (which I'm willing to bet is the case for everything in their lives, not just the islamophobia). I'd just walk away and not pay them any attention, we don't owe anyone any explanations of what we choose to believe in and if they want to live with misconceptions then we shouldn't waste our time trying to change that
@Remas Almusabeh yeah, but then it's also refreshing to see the converts/reverts/people who decided to actually conduct proper research to rid themselves of their misconceptions, because when that happens they realise how peaceful Islam really is and how all of the nonsense arguments they use to preach against it is actually false or had been depicted in particular way to make Muslims seem like bad people. Let's just hope and pray the others find the right path soon, even if that doesn't mean accepting Islam, at least they could realise that they're wasting their time and energy hating on the wrong people

To be truthful I didn't know if I was Sunni or Shia until recently my parents raised us to be Muslims not Shia or Sunni I am Sunni and reliazed our differences But that doesn't make any difference Maybe one day inshallah we will all reliaze that our diffrnces aren't bad.

As Muslims we follow the quran and sunnah of the prophet sws. We follow his teachings not any other teachings. We follow how he has commended us from prayer to everything he has commanded. The prophet sws hasn’t commanded us to pray like the shia’s pray. But to pray as how the sunni’s pray. Someone who testifies of the shahada should also act according to the shahada. You can’t say the shahada and be a Christian because then you aren’t following the Quran and sunnah but you have gone astray. So being a Muslim means to follow Quran and sunnah. Not any other path.

Dear Sunni's I love all of you, we are brothers and sisters, I always try hard to show the difference in religious can not change personality but some time I feel why people are racist about us we are united with different opinion.

To be a true muslim you must follow the way prophet and this includes praying ans worshipping Allah as he did and not give his superiority to anyone else or claim his prophet hood was a mistake. After the death of the holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family), there were two options to seek guidance from. The ahlulbayt (family) of the holy Prophet (pbuh&hf). Others.
Ahlulbayt are those family of the holy Prophet who grew up in his blessed lap. Islam, Qur'an and the shariah was revealed in their house. Angels descended with the blessings and mercy of Allah into their house. Muslims Muslims are obligated to send blessings upon them in their namaz/daily prayers. Ahlulbayt are the flesh and blood of the holy Prophet and he loved them the most and they loved him the most. The holy Qur'an testifies of their purity, cleanliness and infallibility in the holy Qur'an. They are the ones about whom the holy Prophet said, "I am leaving behind me two most precious things; the holy Qur'an and my ahlulbayt..."
Who can understand Islam, Qur'an, shariah, the sunnah of the holy Prophet, etc, better than the people of the house?
Amongst the ahlulbayt, you have people like hazrat Ali who is the gateway to the city of knowledge of the holy Prophet. Lady Fatimah Zahra who is the chief of the women of paradise. Imam Hasan and Imam Husain who are the princes of the youths of Paradise. Ahlulbayt are the heirs to the holy Prophet's knowledge and wisdom. They are the best examples and the role models for the Muslim ummah after the holy Prophet.
Shi'as follow the holy ahlulbayt for their guidance after the holy Prophet.
As regards to others, we are not sure of the state of their iman, source of their knowledge and understanding of Islam, etc.

Honestly I think shias pay to much attention to Ali (ra) to the point where it distorts true Islam. Allah says in the Quran 6:59 “Verily, those who break up and divide into sects, we have no concern in them”
Those who call themselves Sunni are divided within themselves and those who call themselves shia are divided within themselves. There are 73 sects if I remember correctly not just sunni and shia. But the only true path is Qur'an and sunnah of the prophet peace be upon him. The way ali practiced the way abubakr practiced and others etc. this is true unity. The prayer position on the left is actually accepted in Sunni Islam as well. In the maliki adhab to be specific. You have mosque in Morocco (a predominantly Maliki country) where people pray like that while they're Sunni.

I didn't know which one I was, my parents never talked about sect until I asked. We're sunni but we don't strictly identify with any sect, I've recently been kind of getting into sufism though.

Sunnis and Shias only differed on small issues. But when an extreme sect of Shias got into political power in Iran (ironically they were Sunnis prior to their conversion) they forcefully converted the Sunnis of Iran to Shiasm. Anyone that didn't convert were killed. Even the Ottoman Sultan wrote to the knew King/leader of Iran asking him not to persecute Sunnis who were the majority. Prior to this the Ottoman kings and Muslims in general would go to Iran to study in Islamic institutions which were centres of Sunni Islam.
Sadly the form of Shiaism that came out of Iran and dominated the Shia world ie Iran and Iraq believe that the majority of the companions of Prophet Muhammad (S) including his wives left Islam after his death.
They also believe that you can call and pray to the 12 Imams including the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad (S) who will answer your prayers.
They even believe that Omar (ra) attacked Fatimah (ra) while Ali (ra) was with her in her house and due to this she passed away and also lost her unborn child.
Yes we can unite with Shias on many common points but never on theology since a lot of what is found in their books would take a person out of Islam.
We don't just believe this. There is historical evidence for burning down of fatima's house.
As for 12 imam thing, that is also untrue. There's different types of Shias as well. One type believes in 12 imams, all don't.
As for praying to the Imams and Fatima, that is also false. You are spreading falsehoods to mislead people.
We only pray to God, but we believe that through Imams God will answer our prayers faster as the Imams are close to God. The same is for the prophets. We'll also call upon all previous prophets(not just imams) in our dua so that God may answer it faster. That doesn't mean we worship them.
Take this analogy. You want an important minister to get your work done. You'll call upon someone close to that minister to act as a bridge between you.
Just remember, the Sykes-picot agreement is the only reason we have country divided like a cake and not cultural divides, hence the fact they’re always at each others throats.
