The way she "Screams" is a technique where she uses what is known as false vocal chords that are actually used by the body to prevent you from drowning. The hardest part to learning this technique is actually finding your false vocal chords to use in the first place, then you can't force them when you scream, if you do so; you'll seriously injure yourself. You have to let it flow smoothly. That is how she can switch between "clean singing" and "screaming". Also, she hasn't had any formal training of any kind. Amazing...

There really is a very simple explanation for this. Whenever the band start playing heavy music it triggers the deamon inside her to brake free and when they go back to the chill music she are able to regain control over it. Totally simple don't you agree? 🤣🤣

Jinjer are created in 2009/10 in eastern Ukraine. In the meantime, however, there is no longer a founding member in the band. When war broke out in 2014, they fled to the west end. When the Russian invasion begins in 2022, they are in Kiev and help to defend the city in the civil sector. They now have a special permit and are touring around the world raising money for Ukraine. As a male metalhead I adore the fact a female has come along and said 'hold my beer' then destroyed every other male metal vocalist in the industry... this isn't girl power, it's pure female domination. Brilliant... Tati is a beast. Oh and it's pronounced pie-sea's...as in the star sign Pisces. Which features two fish meeting head to tail, representing the two sides of a Pisces personality...the calm and the anger, just like the vocals in the song. Mate do more Jinjer, you honestly won't be disappointed. :) Oh and about your fighter who made a toss of himself...hey the world understands he'd just had the piss knocked out of him and probably wasn't thinking straight, don't sweat it...we know the British are much more sporting and gracious than what transpired. ;)

Tati doesn't do the switch in most cases, it's extremely hard on the vocal cords! You're one of the only people that seriously reacted to the switch in tones at the end and i applaud you for it! Now it's time for Howard Jones with Killswitch Engage, the 2 most respected singers in my book!

Since you did ask for explanations, I'll do my best. I'm a musicologist but I also work as a vocal coach, so I understand what's going on. Think of her as you'd think of a hybrid car with two separate engines. She has her normal vocal cords for clean sounds, but there is also a different couple of muscles above them, called vestibular folds, or false vocal cords. You can experience them too if you try and angry sigh and feel where that rasp is coming from, almost at the base of your tongue. She uses those to produce the distorted sounds and in those moments her regular vocal cords are almost totally disengaged. That is why she can switch back and forth between the two techniques seamlessly. Of course, there's a long way between understanding how it works and actually doing it, it takes a lot of practice.

I would love to go back 20ish years and do a reaction video to Arch Enemy's "Wages of Sin" album. That was the first time I heard a woman do harsh vocals. Then a band called The Agonist came along where their first vocalist switched from harsh to clean. Hooray for being in my early 40s, I guess. Tatiana is a great frontwoman and an important figure in metal and an interesting person, but I wasn't surprised in the least when I heard her. I was more focused on the unusual but excellent drumming , awesome guitar tone, and fantastic bass tapping. Even now I'm listening to it trying to figure out if there's a second, highly-processed guitar part during the verses or if that's keys added in. I know there's a second voice added in at various points during Tatiana's harsh and clean vocals, plus there's a whisper track in the mix at a couple of points. It's not a big deal; maybe they have a different definition of "live session" than I do.
It's a guitar and from what I could figure out after hearing this song so many times, it has a chorus effect with the rate turned all the way up and some ambient effect, either reverb or a very long delay. There's only one definition of live session: it's when the musicians perform a song all at the same time in the same studio room. Now, whether the audio that we hear is directly from that live session or not, that doesn't change the concept of a live session. In this case, what was played in this live session that we can hear in the final mix is the drums, Roman's clean and distorted guitar work and probably the bass (I'm not 100% sure on this one). The 2nd and 3rd guitar tracks (clean and distorted) and all of Tatiana's vocal tracks are from the album recordings (with a few changes and parts left/cut out). It's not a big deal for me either, since I knew from the beginning that the two main objectives of this video were 1) to showcase Vlad - the new drummer at the time - and not the rest of the band and 2) the song had to sound as close as possible to the record but with a new drum work. 🙂
I've heard people say that Live Session was probably used incorrectly, it should have been Recording or Studio Session. They probably meant "Live" as in this was the performance that was recorded for the raw audio but it has been processed and placed back over the video which would make something like "Studio" session probably more appropriate.

Jinjer used to do a cover of Lamb of God's song Laid To Rest when they were starting out - no official recording so probably not good enough sound quality for a reaction but a lot of fun to check out. The best video is the one uploaded by NosSam in 2012 with the title in all Cyrillic except the name Jinjer. Comparing to live performances by LoG Randy is significantly lower and can go lower still but not _that_ much and he's almost a foot taller than her so all his resonant cavities are a lot larger. As to next steps, Who Is Gonna Be The One is a great video showcasing everything Tatiana can do with her growls on stage. After that, maybe Home Back about their hometown getting caught in the 2014 war that set the stage for this one. Subbed. Cheers!

Jinjer are created in 2009/10 in eastern Ukraine. In the meantime, however, there is no longer a founding member in the band. When war broke out in 2014, they fled to the west end. When the Russian invasion begins in 2022, they are in Kiev and help to defend the city in the civil sector. They now have a special permit and are touring around the world raising money for Ukraine. You can also buy a donation t-shirt on their website.
The changes are so hard because the zodiac sign Pisces is characterized by strong changes.

As a male metalhead I adore the fact a female has come along and said 'hold my beer' then destroyed every other male metal vocalist in the industry... this isn't girl power, it's pure female domination. Brilliant... Tati is a beast. Oh and it's pronounced pie-sea's...as in the star sign Pisces. Which features two fish meeting head to tail, representing the two sides of a Pisces personality...the calm and the anger, just like the vocals in the song. Mate do more Jinjer, you honestly won't be disappointed. :) Oh and about your fighter who made a toss of himself...hey the world understands he'd just had the piss knocked out of him and probably wasn't thinking straight, don't sweat it...we know the British are much more sporting and gracious than what transpired. ;)

Tati doesn't do the switch in most cases, it's extremely hard on the vocal cords! You're one of the only people that seriously reacted to the switch in tones at the end and i applaud you for it! Now it's time for Howard Jones with Killswitch Engage, the 2 most respected singers in my book!

Since you did ask for explanations, I'll do my best. I'm a musicologist but I also work as a vocal coach, so I understand what's going on. Think of her as you'd think of a hybrid car with two separate engines. She has her normal vocal cords for clean sounds, but there is also a different couple of muscles above them, called vestibular folds, or false vocal cords. You can experience them too if you try and angry sigh and feel where that rasp is coming from, almost at the base of your tongue. She uses those to produce the distorted sounds and in those moments her regular vocal cords are almost totally disengaged. That is why she can switch back and forth between the two techniques seamlessly. Of course, there's a long way between understanding how it works and actually doing it, it takes a lot of practice.

I would love to go back 20ish years and do a reaction video to Arch Enemy's "Wages of Sin" album. That was the first time I heard a woman do harsh vocals. Then a band called The Agonist came along where their first vocalist switched from harsh to clean. Hooray for being in my early 40s, I guess.
Tatiana is a great frontwoman and an important figure in metal and an interesting person, but I wasn't surprised in the least when I heard her. I was more focused on the unusual but excellent drumming , awesome guitar tone, and fantastic bass tapping. Even now I'm listening to it trying to figure out if there's a second, highly-processed guitar part during the verses or if that's keys added in. I know there's a second voice added in at various points during Tatiana's harsh and clean vocals, plus there's a whisper track in the mix at a couple of points. It's not a big deal; maybe they have a different definition of "live session" than I do.
It's a guitar and from what I could figure out after hearing this song so many times, it has a chorus effect with the rate turned all the way up and some ambient effect, either reverb or a very long delay.
There's only one definition of live session: it's when the musicians perform a song all at the same time in the same studio room. Now, whether the audio that we hear is directly from that live session or not, that doesn't change the concept of a live session. In this case, what was played in this live session that we can hear in the final mix is the drums, Roman's clean and distorted guitar work and probably the bass (I'm not 100% sure on this one). The 2nd and 3rd guitar tracks (clean and distorted) and all of Tatiana's vocal tracks are from the album recordings (with a few changes and parts left/cut out). It's not a big deal for me either, since I knew from the beginning that the two main objectives of this video were 1) to showcase Vlad - the new drummer at the time - and not the rest of the band and 2) the song had to sound as close as possible to the record but with a new drum work. 🙂
I've heard people say that Live Session was probably used incorrectly, it should have been Recording or Studio Session. They probably meant "Live" as in this was the performance that was recorded for the raw audio but it has been processed and placed back over the video which would make something like "Studio" session probably more appropriate.
@@MrSpazbomb - Those people clearly don't know what a live session is. Recording or Studio session is exactly the opposite of this, it's when the musicians record their parts individually.

Jinjer used to do a cover of Lamb of God's song Laid To Rest when they were starting out - no official recording so probably not good enough sound quality for a reaction but a lot of fun to check out. The best video is the one uploaded by NosSam in 2012 with the title in all Cyrillic except the name Jinjer. Comparing to live performances by LoG Randy is significantly lower and can go lower still but not _that_ much and he's almost a foot taller than her so all his resonant cavities are a lot larger. As to next steps, Who Is Gonna Be The One is a great video showcasing everything Tatiana can do with her growls on stage. After that, maybe Home Back about their hometown getting caught in the 2014 war that set the stage for this one. Subbed. Cheers!

No-one else has commented on this, but I notice her feet are always firmly planted on the ground whenever does the growl. Is that a requirement for growling? I’ve heard Alyssa White-Gluz say she could never be suspended and sing because she needs to be firmly against the ground.
