    This video is not a deep dive by any metric, but I have an updated version of a video coming out this weekend that is a little bit more technical, and a math PhD update video on the way for next week too so you'll see me on the internet soon for sure 😉

    Love this! Will be posting it in Google Classroom tomorrow for my 8th graders to think about where they could go with mathematics!

    04:20 Wowow that went fast from linear algebra suddenly talking about Elliptic Curves :p

    You should make more of these!, possibly about other things that occur in other subjects like topology, or geometry, etcetera!

    Thank you for the deeper look. Topology would be great too. Yes, please.

    This video made me excited to start abstract algebra next semester. Loved it.

      Its definitely a fun class, the first time I took an abstract algebra class, it felt like I was doing a lot of number puzzles while still saying mathematically meaningful things, as opposed to analysis where you’re doing lots of estimations and calculations to do a similar thing. Anyhow good luck next semester 💪🏼😀

    This is really nice, I just had an abstract algebra class the previous semester and walking through these 5 levels of addition provided several insights to me, Like there isn't a non abelian grp under addition since it is by definition a commutative operation

    Hi Nate. Im a physics student and I just watched your video on 5 levels on integration. Now that you’re doing graduate level work, I was curious whether pure math graduates ever get into differential forms or when they usually start learning it.

    • @CHALKND
      @CHALKND  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The 5 levels of integration video is more focused on measure theory which is a "more" (waves hands) Real Analysis based generalization of the integral. Differential forms, from my experience, since I am more focused on pure mathematics, comes up more when differential geometry and manifolds are at play (which is the case in several physics applications as well.)
      I learned about differential forms in a pure mathematics course in undergrad after taking an intro to proof writing course. In grad school, I am not aware of anyone at my institution that focuses on differential geometry, or calculus on Manifolds -- I think there is a class on it but its outside of my field of interest -- so I am not entirely sure if differential forms would come up, at least where I am at while I complete my graduate studies.
