    Seeing a TH-camr with all the tools needed for a great coffee without breaking the bank is refreshing!

    Thank you for posting this video. I had the same machine with the same flaking issue and I was extremely annoyed that I was drinking Teflon flakes for possibly over a month and a half, regardless of whether it is food safe. Fortunately Amazon approved my late return request (2 weeks past the return date) and the process was quick (within minutes of my request they had sent me a return label) and efficient (easy UPS store drop off).
    Based on what I'm reading the experience at Gaggia/Whole Latte Love has been a hassle. They are probably over run with requests, but requiring that the machine be "like new" is ridiculous, as you stated it's their problem, they should allow returns for all Evo machines with this issue, regardless of use.
    For my replacement I ordered the Cafelat Robot for about the same price as the Gaggia Evo. It's a completely different type of espresso machine, hand lever vs. automatic pump, but I'm looking forward to the traditional lever espresso making experience.

    Wow. You are ALL in with your coffee bar. Very nice. I am here in Madagascar and I found a store selling Italian restaurant equipment. They had some 2019 GCP so I was very excited. We have great coffee from the central highlands Itasy region. Now I need to find a good grinder here. Happy espresso!!!

    Hello, I came across your video and I'm in the same exact boat. I just bought the exact same machine (before xmas, also in white) and getting flakes from the boiler into my cup. In the process of returning for a store credit as well. Thinking about upgrading to the ECM Casa V with an eco-brass boiler and getting away from the aluminum boilers all together. Was looking at Bezzera BZ 10 but it's just to large at 17" in depth for my countertop. Breville dual boiler would be a sweet machine, good choice since you already have that great Eureka grinder. Thanks for sharing your experience, good to know that someone has the exact same issues that I've been going through too. All the best!

      I have a 2019 GCP I got here in Madagascar and no issues after 5 months. I must say this is a huge problem for Gaggia as this is how brands get killed. Gaggia needs to stop shipping this boiler. No one is going to trust those coatings now even if they claim to have fixed the process. What a disaster and it is good you made this video. Congrats to WLL for dealing with all this.

    Thank you so much for sharing this content! I posted in your last video how we're on a similar journey with our white Gaggia / Specialita setups. I also use a puck screen! 😀 I find it so much cleaner for the group head and forgiving with puck prep. I had boilergate issue too and thanks to your last video, I pushed WLL for credit, and just received the refund literally 2 hrs ago! Their customer service is really top notch. To minimize the time I would be out of a machine I took a risk and purchased a different machine from WLL the very same day I shipped the Gaggia back. As a replacement I thought about the Profitec Go originally, but ultimately decided I wanted a stainless steel boiler so upped my game to the ECM Classika PID with free flow control upgrade (not sure I needed this TBH). About triple the price of the Gaggia EVO but so far so good for my needs. The E61 group looks very impressive and it is satisfying when you pull the lever to start the extraction. It is a single boiler and the bigger 750ml boiler takes longer than the tiny Gaggia boiler for the steaming / recovery. Thought about dual boiler / HX machines as my wife likes milk based lattes whereas I am only drinking Americanos, but decided to just suck up the extra couple of minutes in my workflow and avoid the expense of the dual boiler or the potential lack of temperature consistency with HX machines. Unfortunately I agonize / research like crazy and somehow alway have buyers remorse no matter what I get, but price wise I think I had to draw the line at the Classika and so far am very pleased with it. I wish you the best of luck with whatever machine you decide to get. BTW, I love your current setup!

    I have not experienced the problem with mine, but I never use the steam wand either. I seriously modified my GCEP, so I will just replace the boiler if I see the problem. I also have and LOVE the Cafelat Robot! Got that one used on eBay 💕

    Thanks for the update on Gaggia. I sent in my GCEP two weeks ago. It is an unfortunate situation for everyone involved. I hope it gets resolved soon. This experience has motivated me to just buy once and cry once. I'm looking at the Profitect Pro 300, Breville Dual Boiler, or the BZ13. Most likely will go for the Dual Boiler. I hear Breville or WLL will have a sale on the BDB about once or twice a year. Hopefully they will have one soon!

    You have made the best of a difficult situation. Clearly I was not the only one who suggested the GO! Well you’ll have a store credit at WLL and you can wait till you find the perfect match of aesthetics and functionality. As you know I have the GO but also have a 1991 Olympia Cremina which still knocks out fabulous shots and has great steaming for milk-based drinks. Happy coffee from a fellow nerd.

      As for the Casabrews, I am still using it and with the bottomless portafilter update, I genuinely like it and as long as I have fresh beans, I’m good :)

      @@TashVitorsky thanks! Impressive that a budget machine is doing the job. I loved the look of the gaggia, so my alternative is now a rancillio silvia but it feels dated and not so easy on the eye. Doesn’t excite me. I think i commented it really earlythat im really sceptical about using the plastic in a boiler since itll expand and contract when heated. They should just have put a stainless one

    • @TashVitorsky
      @TashVitorsky  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The gaggia boiler is actually aluminum. I don’t believe any plastic is involved. Someone correct me if I’m wrong lol.
      But I read a comment of someone explaining the flaking might be due to the fact that the metal expands as it’s heated up and as it cools it causes the coating to peel, flake off and end up in peoples cups.
      Speculation…
      But whatever the reason, the coating on the boilers are flaking off.

    Boilergate is bad. But the aluminum boiler replacement is $35 at wll if you into fixing, it is fairly easy. Almost cheaper than descaling? :))

    • @Bill-km8dl
      @Bill-km8dl 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would be careful with that solution. The uncoated aluminum boiler will be in direct contact with the brass group head and galvanic corrosion is almost certain unless they put some type of coating on the bottom of the boiler...so far the reports are Whole Latte Love/Gaggia are just sending the prior uncoated boiler.
