List like these are necessary, entertaining but not good guidance. This list reveals the limitations of hidden but influential cultural trends. How could a list originating in the first quarter of the 21st century in the USA be of any use if it does not include a single book by Richard Ford, nor Karen Jay Fowler and omits Pynchon's Against the day? And where are the other Chris Ware fans?
i read the road... sits on its knees with ANY CLASSIC in multiple categories,, i saw one line google ....brilliant postapocaliptic novel that kid never read anything else rest of his life probably to have those words on it

I agree! There are many significant books not on this list. Still, this list is full of excellent choices, and I'm planning to finish it.
