But for the HD the ai is much harder. They block like crazy so I do that guard breaking charge alot to knock them our or break their defense. I don't like doing it that way, feel like I'm cheating. You can cancel combo them while they defend, that way they get pushed back to the edge with every hit. Then charge break defense, while they're stunned charge again and knock out. Although I love the original. Remember first time I played it was in 2003 when I was an 8 year old in a camp.
I must have played at least a thousand hours on this growing up. Me and my brother played all the time. Might have to start up a new save file with my kid now and relive the magic....
find it bizarre that budokai 1 is the only dbz game to accurately follow everybody's transformations that they had in the show. this is the only game to have the 2 stages in trunks ascended ssj form. every other dbz game just has ssj trunks and then they just go straight to his ultra form as if they forgot he also had vegeta's super vegeta form as well. this game even had cells overpowered form that he used on Gohan when he was pissed off.
I believe they had it like that because it was understandable to put it in this game and not the others. Because in terms of Budokai, they only went up to the Cell saga which means no Super Saiyan 2s for Goku and Vegeta, and as we know the Buu Saga added an immense amount of new aspects and tropes to the series. If you think about how much was introduced for the Cell Saga then compare it to how much was introduced for the Buu Saga, the gap is huge. So back to the games, they had room to add Trunks' and Vegeta's ascended forms, Cell's power weighted form, and all the King Kai Fists for Goku. Came time for Budokai 2 and 3, it wouldn't make all that much sense to have all of those things in game ALONG with the aspects introduced with the Buu Saga. There would be too many unnecessary aspects to Budokai 2 and 3. Oh! and I just thought about Zarbon, Dodoria, and Android #19's inclusion in said games. Early cap, more room for characters that didn't do much; later cap, less room. Hope I explained that right XP

Nozdormu The Timeless No problem and ah, I used to do that too but I found out that there's a better method. First, get as much zenny as you can go to the shop. Rather than playing story mode and doing the exit method at the skill shop, buy from the ability, physical, and support sections. The capsule limit that everyone can have is 9 so once you keep buying from them, it increases your chances of buying the dragonballs in the recommended section since you bought since you maxed it out. It also serves as a cheaper way to buy expensive capsules. Also, I recommend to go to skill list when you buy a lot to see your progress.
+Tysamu Jonashii I'm not exactly good at explaining this but there are cancel tutorials out there that will help. I recommend checking out underlordtico's tutorial as he does a good job going in depth with everything.

It was always possible but the games just never taught us how to do it. A lot of moves that won’t connect on the ground will actually work if you have them in the air or get behind them.

Hold the guard button then you press the back button twice. Doing that will allow you to charge up ki yourself.
