Loved the video. I have an expression. I am trying to find out if I can make layered designs not on the onesie because that is to be a station for people to make the onesie themselves. I have never used HTV and don't know how to layer the pieces without ironing them on if you are not putting the project together on the onesie at the time you are cutting all the pieces.
The layers will need to be applied separately. Are you able to mark the top of the carrier sheet of each layer to indicate how to line it up? This may make it easier for your customers who choose the layered designs.
I didn't even think of using my HTV or adhesive vinyl that way. I really think this technique would be good to use for twins or same sex siblings t-shirts. The kids outfits would be the same yet different. I LOVE THIS A LOT!!! Is it better to put a "ghost" carrier sheet back on top of the 1st part that's pressed or does it really matter? Thanx ladies! I hope to catch today's V.F.
Hi Dionna, after you press the first layer you just want to make sure that the entire thing is covered with a cloth or multi use paper. You do not want the vinyl to have direct heat from the heat press. Hopefully this helps.
I followed your directions, but I wasn't able to get all the cut lines to match up perfectly. No matter how hard I tried... if I got one to sit flush, another would move enough to slightly overlap. I wasn't using the heart design though - I was using a butterfly, making it so the main butterfly was one color and the inner parts of the wings were a different color. The final product resulted in ever-so-slight lips around some of the edges. I sure hope this holds up because this is for a Christmas gift and I don't have another shirt for a re-do.
Hi, we're glad to hear you tried it but that's not good it didn't quite work the way you wanted it. Why type of vinyl were you using and how long did you press each color? When doing something like this or any layering re recommend just 2-3 seconds on the first layer. Just enough time to get the vinyl to adhere then add the other layers and colors on at the sale time. You will find it much easier to line things up. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Thanks for the response! I was using Siser glitter HTV. I pressed the first layer for about 5 seconds. Then I spent a lot of time positioning the second piece, even running my fingernail along the edges to get them to line up properly. But as I’d get one spot aligned, another would shift out of place just slightly. The shirt still looks great, but I can feel the raised edges. Since I didn’t have a second shirt to try again, I’ve already boxed it up to mail for Christmas.
Do you really save money using easyweed? vs getting printed transfers from places like 613 Originals or F&M? Many of those are between 15 cents and 75 cents. Just wondering if its worth the work or what the difference is. Good video btw :)
It would depend on the HTV that you are wanting and the image the you are using. Here is a link to the HTV that we carry expressionsvinyl.com/heat-transfer-vinyl/
Hi Jody, for the first layer you would only press for just a few seconds. When you press the final layer then you do it for the entire time. This will help if it shrinks.
looking for the link to buy this glitter and flock and easy weed and holographic vinly at good prices. im a newbie so sheets is better than rolls for me since i need to play. tia
Hi Rebecca, it is recommended depending on the type of fabric that the shirt is made out of but you are good if it is not washed. We have done quite a few with basic tshirts. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. www.expressionsvinyl.com

This is great! Thanks so much for the tutorial! I've been wondering how to do something like this.

Some layers are just a little herd to line up exactly. Sounds like you did what you could on it. We're sure it will be a great gift!

Can I layer gold foil on top of the patterned HTV ?
No, you will need to do the knockout with this.
Lovely, thanks for sharing. Wouldn’t easy weed stretch out of shape if I use this technique?
You are welcome, you can use the knock out technique with Easyweed. You just wouldn't be able to use the excess for another project.
I love your video's. They are so informative.
Thank you Sheila! :)
Great video! Very informative.
how do you do the knockout cut in cricut design space?
Hi Nicole, we did a video on that. Hopefully this helps. th-cam.com/video/WdxbFaMe98g/w-d-xo.html

Hi Eva, yes, the littler hearts were cut out in the inside of the larger heart. A star would be a fun one as well.
Magical 🥰🤗
Hi Jessica,
Can you confirm exactly what vinyl you used here, I heard you mention a few and got confused LOL~ Appreciate your help, loved the video!
She was using the Siser glitter htv. expressionsvinyl.com/siser-heat-transfer-vinyl/glitter/
Great technique but doesn’t the easy weed shrink to how would this work?
Hi Jody, for the first layer you would only press for just a few seconds. When you press the final layer then you do it for the entire time. This will help if it shrinks.

Very nice. I'm new, new, new to this. Do you have to wash your t-shirts or anything else before you apply the vinyl?
Hi Rebecca, it is recommended depending on the type of fabric that the shirt is made out of but you are good if it is not washed. We have done quite a few with basic tshirts. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
