@@MitoNova583 religious reasons are probably the biggest, but Puritans had a fairly restricted repertoire of names they deemed normal or acceptable to give to their children. Nearly all of them were religious in nature, and it seemed like there was a pretty standard group of normal names, with John being the most common by far. You can think of it this way: a lot of common names today are Biblical too, like John, Thomas, Matthew, Michael, and so on. But they're so common we don't really give them that much thought, and if some other biblical names are chosen for people, like Malachai, Nehemiah, Abraham, they're seen as a bit outlandish. But in John Proctor's case, my professor and I joked that he had so many kids that they probably just ran out of names. That potato question reminded me of the quality of questions in my high school, technically both answers are correct but one is more correct than the other.
Well, to be very technical, no. Vegetables aren't actually real as a concept. There's no definitive criteria for what defines a vegetable in the way that we can clearly define fruits, nuts, and yes, tubers.
@@arcterus9060 yahhh, vegetable is a culinary term not a botanical one, and people classify vegetables based on which part of the plant we eat, like root, tuber, leaf etc, and the word vegetable really has nothing to do with the plant itself

It's exactly because they're grade school questions that they got them wrong, if they were from high school, or university/college, then they would most likely remember them because they learned it less time ago
@@johnderat2652 That logic makes no sense, that's like saying people don't know how to spell the colour "Red" because they learnt it back in Year 1. By the time you're an adult or even a teenager for that matter its not about remembering simple knowledge you should just know it, it's otherwise know as "intelligence" or "common sense." For example you don't have to remember that an apple is a fruit, you just know it is. So yea your logic is flawed but whatever the video was still funny.
@@snowbally8455 You're forgetting something. Knowing how to spell the color "Red", or knowing what a fruit is, is something you will use commonly, which will engrave it into your mind. This applies to most things you learn in school.

That potato question reminded me of the quality of questions in my high school, technically both answers are correct but one is more correct than the other.
Immediately what I was thinking when he argued "but it says its a vegetable to!".
Those type of questions are always tricky 😪
Well, to be very technical, no. Vegetables aren't actually real as a concept. There's no definitive criteria for what defines a vegetable in the way that we can clearly define fruits, nuts, and yes, tubers.
@@arcterus9060 Dude, you sound like when the three of them were talking about how they think Shakespeare isn't even real
@@arcterus9060 yahhh, vegetable is a culinary term not a botanical one, and people classify vegetables based on which part of the plant we eat, like root, tuber, leaf etc, and the word vegetable really has nothing to do with the plant itself

that tuber question was really sad lol.
These other complicated questions however? You'll barely ever use that knowledge, meaning you'll forget it. Like tuber, if you're not into gardening or botany, you will most likely forget it. This applies to most things you learn in school.
