I love the answer "I respectfully decline to answer for I honestly believe my answer may tend to incriminate me"! Mobster or not, that was a great response and something you'd see in the movies! If you ever decide to give up the car business, I think you'd have a career working for the NYPD as a Lead Detective! 😃❄
The street you first turned into Chinatown on has a fearsome reputation. Just down the street where it jogs to the left is the bloodiest corner in New York's criminal history. Murders have been occurring there between gangsters from the middle 1800's right up to the present. It's in a lot of books and a few You Tube videos on New York and Mafia criminal history. I recognized it right away.

If the Gambino's were trying to take over the Colombo's he's said nothing to indicate that. The Commission was upset at the publicity Columbo was generating through his Italian American Civil Rights League scam but nothing has ever indicated they wanted to kill Colombo and start a major Mafia War, which would have generated a kit of publicity and a lot of heat. Gambino was never stupid. Killing Colombo would have been bad for the business. The assassination attempt had the stupid insanity of Joe Gallo all over it. By the time he was killed everyone in the Mafia except his immediate associates wanted him dead.
