As a Mexican my sacred duty is to comment "that's not the way we actually do it in Mexico!" on every video of an American making Mexican food but for tinga everyone has their personal recipe so this is spot on. You just won the anual tinga award 2024.
Congratulations, Mr. YSAC, on your award. The work you put in this year really paid out. We're all really proud of you and looking forward on your pot estimation career.
My GF roasted a turkey this weekend. I did this recipe as a quickie Monday night meal for the family and even if you don't cook the meat in the sauce, it's a perfect way to reheat poultry leftovers for an impromptu taco night!!!
As a Mexican, I am proud that chipotle peppers are having their YSAC moment. Alsooooo.....there are chipotle peppers that come already diced that way you don't have to succumb to such manual labor 😉
When I throw vegetables and fruit against the wall they also magically turn into perfectly cut slices. Never knew I could do this until watching your videos. Thanks for the pro tip. 😃
For a crunchy texture, garnish your tacos with thinly sliced radishes or pickled red onions. They add a refreshing crunch that contrasts with the tender chicken
Man, it's hard to peak so early in the year. Guess it's all down hill......What? Another award!?! Congratulations, YSAC on your win for the 2024 First Award of the Year Award! Way to go!
I love how you went from an insane off-the-wall comedy show that had food in it, to an actual cooking channel with recipes! Absolutely wild and I love it! XD
After much deliberation, we at the Pot Estimation Award Giving Out committee decided that it would be impossible to beat YSAC's pot estimation, so we just gave it to him.
we usually eat these as tostadas with the shells that come in the yellow bag you can buy at any mexican grocery store or you can make at home if just feeding yourself. the crunch adds a nice texture to every bite that i think makes the tinga taste way better than in soft tortillas. like the channel and your humor. keep it up
I appreciate the fact you've never learned how to chop things the way I see professionals do. Really allows me to think I could be just as good as you.
those methods are about three things: consistency, safety, and speed. if you get the first two with whatever way you chop, you dont have to worry about the last one bc none of us need restaurant speeds at home.
Congratulations on your award! I thought I had it in the bag after I boiled the exact amount of water needed for my cup of tea but I can’t best chickeny saucy goodness.
Where were the fried green onions? Plant the roots in your garden. Chop them down for a skillet or fry them on a BBQ, turning them until you have grill marks Even good off the grill for taste. You're going to like this surprise and it can be applied in a lot of dishes and you can turn them on your stove. Learned it in a Mexican restaurant and figured I could do it at home, with the garden. Have fun with it.
I am the main cook for my family and Chicken Tingas is one of the favorite things. I generally recommend people use dark meat chicken instead of white meat, but I think it comes down to personal preference. I also like to top mine with pickled carrots and onions along with a roasted corn salsa. I also tend to make everything except the chipotles in adobo from scratch, so that might also be a factor
The only thing I recommend, which is how it’s made in Mexico, is to have like almost equal parts sliced onion and chicken in the final product. Changes your world
You mean like add fresh onions in the end or just measure ingredients so they are present in equal percentage? And what about broth, should i just boil another chicken for some or instant one could be used?
@@HD-cp1fg you’re right that wasn’t clear. They’d be freshly sliced but then stirred in when the shredded chicken gets stirred in so that that cook a little bit. As for chicken broth, whatever you have on hand is always good enough. Instant broth, or from a box, you can always fortify it by boiling veggie scraps in it and bam you’ve upgraded your broth.

You're really gonna start the video with "Buckle up when entering a car because it's the law" when I was saved by the belt from further injuries just TWO DAYS AGO Love your videos, keep 'em coming
Mexican here -- never add oregano (Mexican or American version) before boiling! It completely removes the flavor because it all evaporates out -- your house will smell like delicious oregano but there will be no trace of it left in the food. Always add oregano right before the end of cooking, sometimes even after the heat is turned off.
I know the feeling, first time i made them i was hooked too. Now we cheer "TINGAS, TINAGS, TINGAS!" whenever we pick up the ingredients for another batch.
I have always loved your videos. Especially the (totally not jump cut) magic. Made something similar a month ago and now your video = me making more tacos.
If you're in a hurry, you can just fold a paper towel around your corn tortillas and microwave them for about 30 seconds. It's way better to reheat them in a pan, but the microwave is better than nothing.
I might have mixed up "with the grain" and "against the grain" but you can think of it as "this way" or "that way"
thank you ysac very cool
What if we accidentally follow the sorry circumstance of doing it "the other way"?
You have mixed it up again. It should have been "that way" or "this way"
So should I shred this way or that way?
So.....the "2024 With The Grain" award is still up for grabs?
