He was a bully. Get with the times man. All Daniel had to do was mind his business.. Johnny's buddy Tommy might have gotten brain damage6 from Miyagi after the Halloween dance too.

@@NinjaBuddha503 In that scene where Mr. Miyagi poured Daniel an alcoholic drink, he (Mr. Miyagi) did laugh but it wasn't a very hard laugh like he did from 6:07-6:18. Plus in that scene when Mr. Miyagi poured Daniel an alcoholic beverage, Mr. Miyagi was drunk from drinking a lot of alcohol which is why he had a different voice difference and was talking differently and soon passed out from being drunk.

@Maryweather28-fy8jj Yes. John Kreese and Terry Silver calls Miyagi a "slope" in Part 2 and 3. In part one where Miyagi chops the beer bottle off the car in front of the two drunks. They called him a "nip."
Fun Fact: Pat Morita the guy who plays Miyagi. His comedic stage name in the 1960s and 70s he was billed as Pat Morita "The Hip Nip." Pretty damn funny too. I think he hung around with Jackie Mason and Buddy Hackett a lot. Same style of punchline delivery and storytelling. Look it up. There videos of his acts floating around on You Tube.

Fun Fact: when mr.miyagi is doing the crane kick on the steps that’s actually not him! That’s Darryl Vidal who was a real life black belt and created the crane kick. (Darryl Vidal is the guy who lost to Johnny in the semi finals in the original karate kid) also the actor for Mr.Miyagi Pat Mortia never knew karate or had an accent. He had an stunt double doing the fighting scenes.

No I'm sure that Steven Seagal traveled back in time to ancient china to teach the crane kick to the old masters who in turn taught the Okinawans a derivative of the crane "open hand"style that eventually became karate... He then went "back to the future" (I'm betting the movie was based on his travels) in order to teach Anderson Silva the front kick of death and Lyoto Machida the crane kick he used on Randy Couture.... Idk if you know this great man... He invented all fighting arts and everything dangerous as well as the man solely responsible for making ponytails manly and sexy again...
I know jack about Karate, but I get what Miyagi said about balance. How many sports that don’t require strong and proper footing?

It wasn’t done right against Chozen. The crane kick is a final blow after a long fight. It’s perfect for an aggressive opponent whose running in with no defense.
Well, now we know why Chozen knew how to block it.

Why soccer not American football in karate kid? As soccer wasn’t big in USA in mid 80’s.
Daniel is too small and skinny for football! It would either be soccer or baseball for him but it is the fall season in the movie which is when soccer is normally played in this country.

@@Steve50663 Not True! It actually took off big time in the 70-80s! Remember the NY Cosmos and Pele. You do know the NASL were selling out stadiums in the 70s and early 80s until the league finally folded because of bad management. And the world cups in Spain 82 and Mexico 86 were actually quite popular although still not mainstream and then the US qualified for the 1990 World Cup which really gave it that impetus. High School soccer was quite big. Not as big as American Football but still big especially among the immigrant community. Soccer was always very popular at the amateur level in this country because of so many immigrants but great players just lost interest at the college level because there was no real professional league in the US! The rise of the "soccer mom" also started in the 80s. Daniel LaRusso came from New Jersey were there is a huge hispanic and Italian community so most likely he learned how to play soccer there. California especially Los Angeles is full of Mexican immigrants and they play soccer so no surprise they showed it in Karate Kid in 1984.
