Good point to bring up. Radio at it's core is precisely physics and "space" and should be heralded as such. Radio as a hobby pursuing old nets and making contacts was during a different generation. Want our youth to embrace Radio?...wake up and realize they don't care about contacts as much as they care about the future. Satellite tech catches their attention. Contacting space stations and eventually other bodies in our solar system and beyond excites them. The science of sound and light frequencies, the new understanding of electromagnetism in physics is changing by the decade and we're still trying to get new hams to use our outdated ideas. Oh, there will still be serious and innovative radio governing bodies in the future, but arrl won't be one of them. Time marches on.😊
I would love to take her class! I’ll bet she has developed great examples and demonstrations. Thanks for highlighting Dr. Reiff and her ham radio experiences.
Thanks for the inspiring session. Had read about Professor Patricia Reiff, W5TAR when I posted "Amateur Radio Courses at Universities in the US!" th-cam.com/video/rAOJ-Ks0HvY/w-d-xo.html 73 Jon, VU2JO
Ein sehr interessantes und informatives Interview mit Dr. Reiff. Vielen Dank dafür. 73 Bernd, DH4BM
This is so excellent.
Really enjoyed this interview - thanks both.
Physics, space and radio. All connected by a fantastic hobby.
