The 70's era of Godzilla movies usually isn't considered to be many G-fan's favorite era in the series, but I have to say that the 70's had a magical feeling to them. They were so over the top and insane that it brought us easily the most unique movies in the entire franchise.
Godzilla fans for the most part don't have a clue what they're talking about but you have it right. The 70s were literally one of the best decades for Godzilla films, producing some of the most fun, high energy, interesting, and enjoyable films in the entire series. Leagues better than the cringe of the 90s (except G:2000) and the garbage we're getting today (except Shin).
Neo-Filthy Frank the heisei era returned Godzilla back to its roots, and had an emotional feeling, most G fans would say the Heisei era is way better than the later showa films, and Shin Godzilla is fine, and the Monsterverse is like a modern showa film, and the millennium were for its action, because it was an action based era if movies.
And plus one of the Monsterverse movies (Godzilla kotm) is made by a Godzilla fan, who combined elements of the showa era and heisei era, it has that later showa feel with over the top monster battles, and it has good emotional feeling,
