Totally agree on built in recharging.. no thanks! I find an external charger with an extra cell more convenient anyway. I just carry an extra battery or two for my carry lights. Rarely need em but I’ve got it.
2:08 I'm the opposite. I don't notice a little extra in the width of the body, but I like my flashlights to be as short as possible. Longer flashlights always seem to sit at an uncomfortable angle no matter what I do. I have tried a few times to switch to a 1xAA light for EDC, but I always end up going back to 16340 lights.
Aa/14500 lights are the ultimate edc carry. Smaller than a 18650, almost triple the battery capacity of a AAA and not much bigger. Great thing is most newerr aa lights accept the 14500s to bring them to them close to the brightness of an 18650 lights or pop in a nimh for longer run times. I collect the AA/14500 lights and have over 20 and want more. Just love them.
My Olight S1 has started to die after several years of daily abuse and I've been looking for a replacement for it. That Lumintop EDC05 looks interesting, will be keeping an eye out for your review of it. Great run down of points to consider when looking for an EDC light.
@@pizzadave9812 I've got a bunch of batteries for it and other CR123 type flashlights but the issue is with the light itself (self-shutting off after a second on high despite fresh/new batteries and sometimes refusing to turn on despite there still being 4.1V available with the battery). It still works but it's unreliable. I'm tempted by the Imalent LD70 at the moment after an Olight H1R proved to be a poor decision (right angles are not as useful for my use-case as I thought they would be).
@@PettyVagrant I see... My first light was the s1 mini for over a yr then I got the M2R warrior and then the M2R pro warrior and never looked back lol ...I never had any problems with all 3 olights. I always check to see what's coming out next though 😃

I love Olight flashlights and recommend them to non-flashlight people often since they're so simple and powerful for their size (without costing a fortune too). With battery and emitter tech advancements it's a cool time to be interested in flashlights, each generation seems to have a performance jump similar to how phones were 10ish years ago.
Hard to beat Zebralight for edc, had them for a longtime and never has an issue. I own over 25 lights from different brands, and surprisingly my go to in a lights out situation, camping, or hiking is my Nitecore P16 such a good compromise of flood and throw and I love the beam pattern...YMMV., great topic.
Great tips buddy. I've been carrying a Coast HP-7 for ages and just recently picked up a Nitecore P30. It lives in my work bag most of the time unless I'm out at night in the scrub. Both are not 'small' torches, but they do me. I've also got a few small cheapies laying around but they don't get used anymore (other than my UV/Blacklight torch).
Thanks. But maybe include shape of light. For example the nitecore tip 2 is a candy bar shaped light that you can put into the small jean pocket for keys, the one which no one ever uses.
I already had the Lumintop Tool AA and the Tool AA 2.0. I just ordered the EDC05. I also have a very similar Gray keychain light. Not sure of the brand. Great vid-Thanks!
The tool is better than the edc05 on every way. Button switches are a newer fad but will never be as reliable as a tail clicky. The edc05 is basically another manker e11/utorch ut01 copy and the switches have had many problems on the model. Plus there's a deal on the tool aa right now that comes with a rechargable battery, a tail cap with a magnet built in, and a diffuser cap all for 20$.
Asphyxiate14 I just got the AA Tool 2.0 and hate the UI. The memory makes it so you never know the mode it will come in on. L-M-H-L-M-H-Strobe with no memory would have been nice at that price point
A lot of good stuff to consider. I just had a Micro Stream rechargeable quit working on me out of the blue and I'm shopping around again. I really didn't like the tail button on it anyway and it was for the exact thing you demonstrated in this video. It's just tricky to switch between high and low. That Lumintop EDC05 really has my attention. Thanks for your time making this video!
Accept: usb batteries are often same capacity. They have plenty of room in there, and they do get bigger Also, usb rechargeable lights are nice for battery bank use for ridiculous runtimes.

one of the best flashlights in terms of price/performance/flexibility of use is the Nicron N7. just cant be beaten for that price imo.

Just buy a new battery for it they're only about five bucks from olight

I use a Nitecore Tip, works for me. Definitely not tactical, but small and practical.

I prefer the 18650 for main EDC flashlight, and a AAA size for back pocket backup/headlamp

MrPerroballoo yeap, everything is a trade off. And what you carry in the woods if different then an EDC just in case you drop your keys
I like usb rechargeable because I can just plug it in into the same plug as my phone on my night stand
