    I have 8 guanabana trees growing in my back yard ,7 of witch are under 6 foot high, during this last cold spell most ofmy trees lost all their leaves, my large tree thats about 20 foot high it lost all it,s leaves too, THANK GOD all the trees have gotten their leaves back, on the big tree i now have flowers and 2 fruit i can see about the size of a baseball. all the other trees now look great they have their leaves back and new leaves growing . i did cover all the trees,i had sheets and tablecloths and blankets all over the yard hanging from poles put into the ground to keep them up. i look at them everyday, along with all the other trees, anon, cherimoya, carambola, mamaceio tree, avacado, mango trees, even a southern magnolia, a few palm trees, a few moringa trees, it looks like a forest here. but let me tell you when i had cancer thats when my neighbor went to Homestead,fl. and brought me back my first guanabana tree, we waite till it got to the size and we started making tea from the leaves, and then i had a skin cancer growing , i stared puting smashed up leaves on the squimious cell cancer i had on my hand and this was after i had mohs surgery on it and it returned and i said no more surgery , that hurts, i put the leaves on it and it started fading away, it,s gone, so i do believe it,s got healing powers in the leaves and the fruit, and i must say there is alot of prayer to go with this ,without GOD and prayer none of these healings would of taken place, but i do believe GOD gave me these trees as an extra resource to help me. from what i understand some of my other trees have different qualities for high blood pressure, arthritis from the moringa tree. As i see it i have a pharmacy growing in my yard. and i have so much i will share it with who ever, GOD gave it to me and i believe HE wants it shared.

      Hi Betty! Where do you live?

    Seaweed! I live in south eastern Australia and our winter from mid June through July nights can go down below 40F sometimes a few nights occasionally get down to 32, rare but it can. Days are fairly warm and it is only that cold late at night early morning a month some years it is only a few weeks but last winter was the coldest in 11 years and amazingly the first winter I have kept a soursop alive. This is how I did it. Polytunnel I kept it potted it's still young but I bought the baby tree in spring and right through the growing season I hit it with seaweed juice, seaweed tonic and plenty of potash. When it started getting colder I moved it into the greenhouse/polytunnel, it was not heated this year I will run heat cord but it got to 45F didn't drop a leaf until it got down to 39F and I believe it was the seaweed over summer that helped this plant. It did not get as cold or for as long in the polytunnel but it still got low overnight. It dropped all it's leaves at 39F but for the first time it came back every previous year they died this one didn't. It has set it back but it is regrowing well and this year it will be in polytunnel again with waterproof heatcords and a small heated pond for my water lotus. And I will see if it keeps it's leaves. My jackfruit got through winter in the tunnel with no problems the one in the garden suffered a bit but survived. I would also try hot water bottles wrapped in foil around the base of the tree the foil seems to slow down the release of heat.

    Thanks I wish I saw this last year …mine defoliated and grew back a little this year….its all good though because the leaves are veeeery beneficial to our health to make tea with. We keep it for the leaves we don’t mind it it doesn’t fruit….oh and our jackfruit didn’t same thing but I didn’t due my due diligence to cover it up so this year I’ll do better

    A tarp is plastic and that is the worst to cover your plants during the cold unless you don't allow it to touch the tree.

  • @bobthomas253

    not trying to downplay your ideas or nothing, just things that I've considered in the past when I was going to get one of these trees are what do you do about ground temperature. or how do you cover your tree when it becomes 20 foot tall or so. if anybody has solved these problems I would like to know as I would love to have one of these

    Nice video, I live in Kissimmee, FL and i also have one growing in the yard. I also put a tarp over mines but it somewhat burned the leaves. Also it contracted a disease from being covered for too long.

    I'm going to plant some Papaya around this tree. Mine is about 12 feet tall and lost it's leaves in the winter. They came back but I may have missed the window for flowers even though the leaves came back. Not sure yet. Great video. I live in the treasure coast zone 10. I think we may have similar climates.

    • @Clarkfamilyorchards
      @Clarkfamilyorchards  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe I'm in 10a and Miami is 10b, so if you're in Treasure Coast which is a bit north of Miami, you're probably right we most likely live in very similar zones :) That is a good idea, growing papaya next to it. You can hopefully create a little buffer zone for the cool air in the winter to allow the soursop to stay a bit warmer! Good luck and thanks much for watching! Let me know how it goes!

    Q.
    I have a 2 year old with 7 months Soursop tree. I live in Houston Texas. I’m a little sad cause temperature drop to 43 degree F
    for 3 days and all the leaves had fallen. After the third day it warmed up to 75 degrees and I built a 10 foot tall greenhouse for future frost. Can someone please tell me if my soursop will survive or die ? I grew this soursop tree from seed in a 55 gallon plastic barrel and it’s about 4 feet tall.

    • @Clarkfamilyorchards
      @Clarkfamilyorchards  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mikey Sosa it’ll probably be fine! Leaves will grow back when it warms up. Good thing building the greenhouse. As long as the limbs don’t die, and even then, as long as the trunk doesn’t, you’re ok. It’ll set it back, but don’t worry.
