    Morven. Always reminds me of David balfour 😊
    Potatoes boiled in sea water on an open fire, wow
    Another great escapist video, thanks

      It's been years since I read Kidnapped and I didn't realise the Morvern connection until you mentioned it so now I'll have to check out the Stevenson Way too! I really enjoy cooking over a campfire - I just need to get a bit better at it 🙂

      Thanks 👍 Next one is being sliced and diced on the editing table just now, although it might be a while before it's ready. Spoiler alert - it actually features some decent fish 🎣🙂

      Thanks! I've been out a few times this summer, so there's definitely a couple more to come once I sort out a shedload of video clips 🙂

    Great new adventure Doug, been watching your stuff for a while now. Keep at it, your only here once.

      Thanks Gary, pretty much my own view too - although it's much easier to sort these trips out now the kids have grown up and you actually have some time to do them!

    Some.braw places you get to lucky guy keep it going

    • @Corkwing-DougK
      @Corkwing-DougK  ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure, I'll keep going until I run out of working arms and legs! A large chunk of winter is spent figuring out possibilities for the spring and summer - keeps me occupied on long dark nights 🙂 You learn to be flexible and work with the weather in Scotland - it always wins in the end! You have to grab your chances when you can.

    Great video Doug that looks like heaven that wee beach bit you did the drone shot absolutely stunning 👌

      It's a stonking bit of coast all right, and probably even more dramatic if you head further south to where it joins the Sound of Mull. Perhaps a three day trip next time, rather than just two!

    Excellent video. Throughly enjoyed it for content and high quality definition. Many thanks.

      Glad you enjoyed it! It's a lovely remote piece of coast and very hard to reach except by sea. Great for kayaking with plenty of wildlife as well, although my attempts to video a sea eagle fell way short of high definition! I'll get a decent shot one day 🙂

    Great footage Doug, a cracking campsite too, well done again.

    • @Corkwing-DougK
      @Corkwing-DougK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Ash 👍 Most of the coast there is either rock or shingle with thick bracken covering any flatter ground, so there are fewer decent sites than you might think. Very pretty though, with a lot of pink granite on show.

    One of the best bits of Morvern, probably because it’s not been spoiled with spruce trees. Last time I explored that area we came over the hill on the motorbikes. You can drive all the way in past Ardtornish point and launch in the bay if you want to explore from that end and round.

    • @Corkwing-DougK
      @Corkwing-DougK  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Jim - it's been years since I was last at Ardtornish so I wasn't too sure about access. I'll definitely be back at some point as it's just a lovely remote place, even if the fishing was a little slow. Cheers, Doug

    Watched this while camping one mile north of kingairloch. Nice one Doug. 👍

    • @Corkwing-DougK
      @Corkwing-DougK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you enjoyed it, and hope the camping is as much fun for you. If you get bored of Kingairloch, you can actually hike down the coast to Glensanda, although you'd need to be fairly determined 🙂

    Loved that, thanks Doug. Really appreciate the time and effort that goes in to making these vlogs. Enjoyed sitting back with a wee drink watching this. So relaxing!

    • @Corkwing-DougK
      @Corkwing-DougK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Stevie - I guess the vlogs are really a separate hobby alongside the fishing and camping stuff. It can get a little tricky to balance them at times, especially in the short winter days when you're trying to cram a lot in and avoid freezing as well!

      I really need to get out in the kayak more often, as it was perfect for a quiet paddle down this coast. Being able to haul it ashore at night is a big plus as I'm always a bit wary of leaving my boat at anchor in locations like this which can get a decent swell at times.

    • @tamlyon4435
      @tamlyon4435 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Corkwing-DougK aye Doug ..the kayak has so many advantages as you say 👍 I’ve put an electric motor on mine and I’m learning to balance it 🤭I throw it on the roof of my camper and trail my dingy giving my self options . Unfortunately Im building a driveway this month and will have to wait a few weeks to hit the water ....your vlog is helping with my sanity ...thanks again.

    • @Corkwing-DougK

      That sounds a great setup. I do fancy a camper at some point, but I reckon I need to ditch the day job first! Cheers, Doug.

      Thank you very much! I don't do that much kayaking but it makes for nice balance of paddling and fishing. Plenty of wildlife too, although I can rarely capture it on a wide-angled GoPro lens.

    Another great kayak fishing trip Doug in another quiet shore…I was reading your blog and was interested in your other boat the SIB which I don’t recall you featuring in a video. It’d be nice to see that boat in action too along side the Longliner kayak and hikes.

    • @Corkwing-DougK
      @Corkwing-DougK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Paul, I did actually make a shortish video of that trip, but I've never got around to finishing it off and posting it. There's a couple like that which I should sort out in the next few months. Although the main point of new outboard was to be an auxiliary for the Longliner, part of the plan was to encourage me to use the SIB a bit more often and hopefully there will be a few videos as a spin-off 👍

    Hey Doug first off excellent video really enjoy the channel and been watching for a few years now. i live in the northeast of England and always envied the fishing up your neck of the woods could you spare some advice regarding wildcamping and shorefishing at loch etive. im looking to try to get somewhere between Bonawe and glen Etive and i was wondering if that road from Bonawe through the Breedon quarry is accessable to vehicles and if there is any decent parking/camping spots for an overnighter and fish. We had previously booked a nice spot in the loch long area but the forest management cancelled the booking lastminute for the ground being waterlogged so im looking for other spots frantically as to not waste my time off. any advice would be greatly appreciated mate :)

    • @Corkwing-DougK
      @Corkwing-DougK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure about the road through the quarry - I've not been along it in years. When I'm out on the boat I do see cars beyond it sometimes, but you might equally find the gates locked. The furthest you'll get I think might be 2-3 miles. If you can get along the track then there are a couple of spots you could put a tent up. If you can haul the tent on your back then at least one of these spots is a little over a mile from the quarry entrance. There's also a campsite at Gallanachmore, near the Puffin Dive Centre on the road from Oban that runs along the Sound of Kerrera. It's close to some deepish fsihing marks although you can't quite fish right out of the tent. Never stayed there myself, so no idea whether it's good or not. Caolasnacon on Loch Leven might work, although it's probably spinning at the site itself with a drive to reach bottom fishing areas. Again, I've never stayed there myself.

      Thanks Doug definitely some food for thought il have a look about google maps thanks for the areas mentioned. Keep up the good videos looking forward to your next one. P.s what’s your pb fish in any sea loch

    Use a single hook instead of treble so you can release the fish easier and also less damage to the fish. Thanks.

    • @Corkwing-DougK
      @Corkwing-DougK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll have to plead guilty in this case, and you're quite right to point it out. I do have a decent proportion of single hook lures now, but should swap out my Toby collection as they're all still treble hooks. You might have to forgive me for the next couple of videos though, as trebles feature in at least one of them...
