Sadly I'd been getting by with the default compressor in GB for some time and guess what...I never understood how it was working. Thanks for teaching us about the various compressors you used here. While using those I actually feel like I know what's going on and I feel in control of the compression. Amazing.
Hi... Great video! I'm at about "Compression 101"☺️ I got a song to my friend's record producer (my first, where I wrote, arranged & produced myself on garageband😳 & thankfully, he said I needed to put compression on the guitar & piano🙂, which I thought did sound a bit harsh) So, thank you for this great lesson & demo of each track & the compressors...a big help in my understanding to give it a shot.🤗
Thank you. That gave me a better understanding of compression and how it's used. I've been using the GB presets up till now, and I do find them helpful. I did up load those free compressors you offered but they came through looking like the garageband compressors, so I don't know what to do with them. They don't have the dials and meters like what you have on the video.
Hello Thank you so much Sir. Let me ask a question. I tried to get the static mix as you said as much as I can. After EQ and Compression I found that I need to adjust the volume of some track. Can I adjust the individual tracks after EQ and compression. Thanks
A year later and I'm still wondering lol If I'm on your 6 step check list and Im compressing stuff (part 4) wouldn't I start with individual tracks or are you starting with a bus?
Could you make a video like this with real drums please? So does your band actually use Midi drums from GB or are you paid from apple to teach these classes? But anyways lol- would you use this compressor on each track for recording real drums and then use it on the master? It’s confusing because you are using just “Drums” with all your midi in 1 track so are you compressing your master drum truck with the rest of the song?
hello sir thanks for your videos are being really helpful. On quick question please how do I install the analog obsession once downloaded into my garageband because it does not show up. thanks

It’s never not a good day to refresh yourself on compression, at least for me 😂😂 this is one of the hardest things for me to get and get right
SonicScoop podcasts …priceless … Learn to hear compression ….. These vids are also priceless .
I’ve watched this video several times in the last year, and compression conceptually solidifies more each time.
I love how you put time into demonstrating the effects so we can really see and hear how it's working. Compression is amazing. Thank you !!
I finally am understanding compression. And I didnt realize that different compression plugins work for different purposes. Thanks!
Still waiting for this song to drop 😭🔥 every time I come back to these videos to freshen up, this song gets stuck in my head
haha

The parallel compression on the kick and snare works a treat.

Excellent advice on all your vids

@@TheBandGuide Thank you!
I'm surprised there aren't any better built-in visualizations to show how compression smoothes out the loudness of a track.

What type of compression/ compressor do you like to use for keyboards, synth leads/ pads, bass synths?
What's a good compressor for lead guitar (electric)?
Can I ask why “compare” is on in both EQ and Compression applications?

05:34 we re just gonna ignore this knee over here
🤣
When doing eq and compression, the master track volume raises above - 3. Could I adjust it with gain plug in?
