Thanks for the review. Looks like a very solid unit. Another option if you’re wiring permits it is to use a Lutron indoor switch and control the outside outlet from there that would certainly illuminate any wireless distance issues and I think is a cleaner solution if you set it up that way initially,Can run a new outlet working at least out of switch inside to the existing one.
Thanks Brian. That’s a great point! My main outdoor deck lights are on a smart switch inside. It could just as easily be for an outlet if the wiring was setup.
I really like Lutron and have replaced just about every light switch and fan switch in my house. I still have one more switch that will require rewiring the run from the light to the switch but that will be pretty easy to do in this case. It is a storage room that was added onto the garage after we bought the house 20+ years ago and I didn't have them wire it up with a neutral wire. That will be remedied shortly and then I can add my Lutron switch that will match the rest of the switches in my house. I have 5 of the fan switches controlling the ceiling fans in my Living Room, Den, Master Bedroom, Guest Bedroom, and Office. I have automations that turn them to 50% in the two bedrooms at night and then an automation that turns them all back down to 25% in the morning after my wake up alarm goes off. You are correct in that the Lutron switches just work; like all of the time. It is one of the few products I have had zero issues with. Since I have 35 total smart Lutron Caseta switches connected to the my Lutron hub currently, it is actually nice not to have that many WIFI clients but instead have the Lutron Bridge control all of that traffic. The Lutron Hub is connected with a direct ethernet cable to a switch so that doesn't eat up any wireless bandwidth on my wireless access points.
Might want to brush up on GFCI. Not every receptacle needs to have GFCI buttons it simply needs to be wired into a circuit that has one. For example all the bathrooms in a home will be wired to the same GFCI outlet.
Well done Eric. Lutron is my “go to” product. This new device isn’t cheap but cheaper than my iDevise that does the same thing. However, the iDevise has to outlets and they are both protected from rain and snow. It has also been trouble free. I will be getting this Lutron switch soon. I will also pay much more (🇨🇦).

Great job Eric! I’ll have to get one of these before my holiday lights go up next winter!
Thanks Brad! Yeah this will be a nice control for holiday lights...especially in cold weather.

That's great Frederick! I agree their switches are nice. Enjoy them once the wiring is complete.

Thanks Doug! I agree it’s expensive but if you have a place you want to use one and you are already into to Lutron it’s very compelling.
Lutron Caseta are great switches, however before this came out I got a meross 2 plug outdoor outlet which works well.
Does Lutron have a indoor smart plug? And if I want to use HomeKit, do I use the Lutron app or the apple home app?
Another great review Eric. Do you think you’ll get into networking any time? I’m thinking UniFi gears and such. Also I’m buying this.
Thanks for the content idea on networking. I don't have specific plans to right now but I might soon.
Watch your videos all the time didn’t realize you was also in Illinois.
Thanks! Yay land of Lincoln! 🙌😄
Only -20 celcius, apparently they have never been to Canada in the winter !- sorry lutron = fail
