It is a long slog uphill. But the views are worth it if it is a clear sky!

Thankd IllGetThere! Each Camino is very much to each individual needs. If I was to give any advice it would be to take rest days where you actually rest - not sightsee or do anything else - literally rest. It is an amazing experience and whilst I may have come home now with an old virus coming back to the surface (Shingles), I am also already planning my next stages and can't wait to get back there!
I hope you have a wonderful Camino!

Hi Colm, enjoy. My wife and I did it last year, your bring back memories. Point to note Pyrenees are not the highest point on the Camino but certainly probably the toughest, we split it into 2 days stopping at Orrisson. Have a great Camino and we shall enjoy watching your travels Buen Camino.

Thanks David, you are correct - not the highest point on the whole Camino but on this first stage for me it was. I am only planning on getting to Logroño during this trip and returning to do the rest at a later date.
I had considered splitting that first day but as I had set off so early and arrived at Orrison by 9.30am it seemed daft (at the time!) for me to stay there for the day... a lovely meal with a friend in Roncesvalles definitely made it the right choice.
Some of my later choices have not been so good 🥵

Colm McCann Hey, thank you very much for recommending our Spanish channel!. I am working on some of the English videos for our new English channel “BDE Travels” Even though, in some of our current videos we have English mixed into them. We stopped in Burgos and next year we are continuing our Camino and hopefully finishing it.
I saw the photos of your children and wife; and you have a beautiful family. May the Lord bless you all...Thanks!

Hi Dave, maybe at the time I was walking but I did start out fairly early (just after 6am) and know that where I stayed in St Jean Pied de Port was the 5th or 6th hostel I tried (all the others were full) so there were probably around 200-300 walkers that day heading over the Pyrenees!
Roncesvalles was filled by the end of the day though I don't know if they all originated from St Jean that day too...
