In the 80s, it had an unique Yellow and Green rakes hauled by a diesel engine, it was meter gauge that time....that time, electrification was only from Chennai Egmore upto Villuppuram Jn.....so all other trains, there used to be Engine Change in Villuppuram..Vaigai Express was the only train whichhad Diesel Engine throughout...the Engine was also the same colour Pattern as the coaches (u can find the old Vaigai Express images)....it was the only train in TN which had Tube lights, that time....It stopped at Villuppuram, Trichy and Dindigul .... only 3 stops....and it was the fastest Meter Gauge Train in India in the 80s..Im 50 now and my childhood memories r with this train
