@@jayp9059 but that doesn't prove that poletitions were born Rich and always had lavish lifestyles. Infact many pollies grew up on farms, some others grew up in slums, others came from broken homes and were put into foster care. just because they get a huge pay as poletitions doesn't mean they always had that.

And yet the only politicians with some direct experience/understanding of this are in Labour. Not the Tory party. Because the Conservatives exist to conserve the interests of the wealthy, and Labour exist to advance the interests of the poor, the marginalised, and the mass of the population. And this situation will persist until enough people wake up, realise that, and stop voting for the Tories.

Poverty is exhausting. No matter how strong and upbeat you try and remain it wears you down. Being cold and missing meals is only one of the symptoms of life spent always struggling. Only when you live it will you know that. No politician will ever understand.

You may not be as well off as others but to say poverty in comparison to how millions live (and barely complain/dont have access to youtube to complain.)

Wages have never kept up with rising costs & it’s even worse now. I’m in New England & sleepy little towns with nothing going for them have seen home values increase 50% or more since 2020! Some big cities have seen home values double! New England has brutal winters & my energy bill now is 3x what it was last year. It’s scary to think what the future holds for the everyday man & woman!

If you’re a prospective first-time homebuyer hoping (or praying) home prices will decline in 2022, don’t count on it. If people are waiting for a price to decline, well, it’s not going to happen. Heading into the spring of 2022, mortgage rates have increased over a full percentage point and while purchase demand has cooled, it remains firm. Supply remains near record lows, so home price growth is expected to remain high through the spring homebuying season before cooling off later this year as mortgage rates continue to rise.

The problem is housing all the high rise luxury apartment buildings that push people out of their neighborhoods while using taxpayers money to do it. That depends on how high your income is. Up to a certain amount, more money makes you happier because it will enable you to support yourself. (There's been research into that.) Beyond that point, more money does not change people's happiness. But it does likely make them spend more, buy more and more stuff that their lives don't depend on, perhaps making them feel like they have lots of stuff but little money, indeed.

Min wage in 2007 was 5.52
This easter it will be 9£
      Roughly a 81% increase.
So if my economics r correct we have had double the min wage in comparison to inflation. Id say thats excellent.

    • @ragerancher
      @ragerancher 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

@@Tom-tp1jv I strongly doubt inflation has only risen by 48% since 2007. Prices for most basic commodities has gone up by much more. I could survive on £10 food costs per week back in 2014. Now I'd say that is around £20+ for a similar shop. That would put my food shop at an annual rate of 10% inflation.
A £9 minimum wage would be the equivalent of 3.3% inflation per year.
Most comparisons of stuff you buy in supermarkets indicate inflation running into the 100's over 10 year periods.

Eating enough helps your body stay warm too. So, try to compromise to the extent that you still can. It's a bloody Catch-22 but try to avoid starving yourself.
(I know what I am talking about. I have just totally stuffed myself. Yesterday evening. Two bowls of porridge and a big ton of pasta with tomato puree. Because I could and had not been able to do that for a while and then I had a shower because I had not had warm water in a few months and my muscles felt all knotted up and I had not had a shower the day before I had not had one in the morning either. When I survive on little for a while, and then have a little money, I sometimes find myself doing these things. Like eating 6 or 8 rolls - bought on discount of course - or several plates of spaghetti - always the 20p kind of course and nothing added to the pasta of course, no veggies or meat or fish - and I can't rule out that this is something purely biological.)
What I have done is put a mylar thermal blanket under my bedsheet - but be careful with that as it can cause condensation which could lead to mould growth - and I wear fluffy socks in bed. If my ankles are exposed - not covered by fabric - I wear so-called "leg warmers" too. And I often have a fleece blanket - a Christmas one that I bought at Asda right after Christmas - or a scarf around my neck and shoulders. All these little bits help me stay warm. Sometimes, when it is really really really cold, even indoors, I wear a hat, lol.

@@utubebroadcaster I disagree with your assertion that the misery and poverty that many people in this country are facing is entirely due to Brexit, when these problems were here in abundance long before the referendum. That's why I commented originally before quickly realising that I wasn't prepared to get involved in a lengthy debate with you. You're the salty one - things didn't go your way 7 years ago and now you are gleeful about the suffering people are currently enduring.
I merely amended my second reply, what's your problem with that? And where have I made any excuse and what do you feel I need to be excused for? As for regrets, sure I've made mistakes in my life, but standing up for my freedom isn't one of them, no matter how cold or hungry I get.
And no, I'm not an extreme right-winger, nor do I care about the price of champagne.
Don't worry though, I'm sure "Jim'll Fix It".
See, I've amended this comment as well having noticed that I failed to put an 'r' on the end of 'nor'. No need to be so short-sighted.

When I came to work in the U.K. in 2014, a pack of fried noodle costed 50 cent, now it costed 1.2 pounds in the Morrison where I live, and the size of the pack reduces to a half.
My energy bill at the same month last year was 92, now it’s 197, and we are using less than last winter.
Back in 2014, I could buy a four year old Audi A3 at 8000 pounds. Now, the same money would hopefully lands me on a five year old Ford Fiesta.

Finally the mainstream media has caught up. Welcome to 2022 BBC. Now, how about you, as the independent media, start holding our elected government to account on how this situation was allowed to get so bad before anyone took notice, what they intend to do about, and don't take "Oh well this is a global problem, not much we can do, we're just little old Britain" as the answer.
