Their main TV studio is in Cologne. Senator used to be located in Darmstadt, Germany. Not sure if they are still there or based in the far east now.

This is a pen I inherited from my artist father, who used pens like this to accent his water colour portraits. I don't use it, because it's an heirloom, but it's in pristine condition. I'm tempted to ink it up...
Just got a piston fill Regent myself! Mine is vintage , plastic, with a blind cap. the name is engraved on the cap, not on the clip. i really love the nib! great review, Chris!!!

It was sold also in a marketing action in the 80ies by Tchibo, the coffee company, that sells all sorts of things besides coffee, and got extraordinary discounts because of their distribution power. A good product sold low price at the end of the life cycle.
As for who made it, apparently Senator was an in-house brand of Merz & Krell, a german company which is best known for manufacturing several remakes of Pelikan 1950's models in 1970's - licensed by Pelikan itself.
Senator is the name of the Company that made this pen and Regent is the Model name the company still exists today best wishes and greetings from Germany

Put nib end in water & pull up lever, if bubbles come out sac maybe OK. Remove nib before releasing lever, don't need to fill with water. If bubbles, try finning with ink. Sections usually come out easily. You can check sac by pulling out section.

@@chrisrap52 it came up on a whim. listing said it was from before the 1940's. it's in great condition. not even scratched up! the nib though, wow.
It looks exactly like a Tropen Scholar made in Germany. They consentrated on the export market. There is info on the Tropen on internet.
Looks like the ideal pen and the nib sounded wonderful too and seemed to suit your handwriting.
