VERY versatile & robust controller. As a DJ who came from live audio engineering, I love all of the features and flexibility this thing has. I just got a DDJ-SX2, so I may be getting one of these in the next year or so.
I have one of these ,the soundcard is EXCELLENT, sounds very clean, very portable and the functionality is GREAT too ,it may not be a popular brand but with its exceptional soundcard ,wonderful features the microphone section is Studio class ,I would fully recommend this controller, found out the soundcard is better than the Pioneer srt 1000
This seems pretty cool but im gonna stick with the DJ 808 for the next few years. i got use to the step sequencer and overall layout. but thanks for sharing
Does anyone know how to make sure you are receiving the high pass filter while using the headphone cue? I can not use the HPF/LPF Knob and hear it in my headphones it only comes out of the main output. Any advice appreciated! I am thoroughly reading the manual tonight.
I hope I win one. I really like that it’s small and all the outlets. Thank you for teaching us the drum rolls, fxs and microphones. Light waight, Love the price also. Let me know if I win. 😂 🎉
i use my dj202 w my mpclive, and i record into daw or recorder. play back remixes in club or remake them. i love it.. a little fidgity but great to have midi. moving up to this w dvs and a record player and my mpc. good idea??
Hey Mr Dj Fantastic Phil, thank you for another thorough review! This will help us mobile djs with routine locations that having varying settings! Gotta get get! As a request, can you please do a review with Virtual DJ and the dual PC usb input with one input using an apple with VDJ and the other usb input on windows using VDJ?
@@digitaldjtips lol beacaue you take out so much of time and effort to make so great videos for us.... And of course we have to love the person in the video too.... Man u great..... Today in fact I've recommend so much of people too have a look at your channel because they have been searching for videos that you make for a long time......ive even recommend then my subscribe ..because I want to see this channel get 1 million subscribers... ❤💕
Phil, can the channel faders be replaced or are they soldered to the main board? I really like this but I’m not forking out a ton of cash for something that will break after rigorous use... I have 2 dead Numark NS7ii’s because of this issue and have gone through 2 DJ 202’s because of this... the solder joints weaken and crack over time and cause the channel faders to be intermittent... Roland said parts can be replaced by the user but they didn’t say what parts other than the Xfader... 🖖
We haven't taken the top panel off so we can't tell you that for sure, although I would guess a Roland dealer could replace any of the mixer faders, not sure any faders expect the crossfader would be user replaceable.
I was more attracted to the iPad Mini - is that the latest one that supports the 1st gen Pencil? :) Looks very sharp as a presentation tool! I have an older Mini3, and a new Ipad Pro - but tempted to get the Mini because the Pro usually stays docked, and I just don't use the pencil with it much at all as I was hoping. (Sorry Roland - I was actually eager to see this new one, but it is so cramped/small compared to how it looked in the pictures I first saw... love Roland stuff though overall.)
@@digitaldjtips Well, looking sharp, regardless! :) And on the controllers - not sure why I was expecting this one to be big, the DJ808 is the flagship really... will check out your video on that one sometime!
The filter knob FX, yes (even with the laptop unplugged) - but you can also apply Serato FX to regular vinyl if you use the controller in its default "Serato mixing" mode.
i have just brought one of these but can't seem to get vu master meter operating on the mac? does anyone have this issue?its working on the controller but not the serato dj program.
hello, thanks for the wonderfull reviews you make. I'm using a pioneer XDJ r1 for the moment, but I'd like to change my controller, because I also doing karaoke events, and so, I always need another mixer with 3 mics inputs, and thats a lot of cables and transport. So I discover this beauty. But I love to work with virtual dj. They said that it's compatible now, but with only mapping, it's not sure that everything will work. Do you know if VDJ is now completely compatible with this controller? Thank you so much... and excuse my english... I'm dutch speaking
Aloha, Hope you can still field questions here. I really like your presentations and hope to take some of your classes. I got the Roland 707M to do corporate gigs here in Hawaii. I found one problem other than it being difficult to change the stand alone effects having to press a couple of buttons and then dial in the wanted effect, and that is with Serato effect "Combo TapeEcho". When I use this effect it leaves a tail which is fine if you can control it. But it continues after I turn the knob down and press the off buttons. The only way that I can kill this continuing noise is to press the track selector button on the Serato effects area, and on one time, that didn't work and i had to shut down and restart the unit. Can you try this out, and see if you experience the same thing with the "Combo TapeEcho" Serato effect? Thanks. Keep up the great videos!
@@digitaldjtips Not only the wet/dry knob, but also the on/off button and the track fader and even when I stop the track, there is this pulsating noise that remains until I actually push the Ch 1 selector button, and on rare occasions it continues after that as well. When that happens, I have to turn off the unit and start it again. So far only had that happen once. Usually pressing the Ch 1 selector button will stop the noise. I understand that some of the Serato effects have some weird properties that include tails that remain post fader, but usually stop when you either turn down the wet/dry knob or press the on/off button. I have noticed that some of them come on when I press the on/off button even when the wet/dry knob is in the down position. This "Combo TapeEcho" is completely different. I am getting the DDJ XP2 in a week or two, and I will try this effect with it to see if it is the nature of the effect of something going on with the 707M.
Yes Mobile/Wedding Dj's, but Roland should work with Serato to fix the issue on DJ 505 before launching another product, DJ 505 has a platter issue maybe related to Serato DJ Software, the platter stop responding after a hour or two of playing.
I bought the 707m today, been playing around with it, I love it but this guy hasn't looked too much into it, the slip button is by pressing shift and hitting the deck button, that'll get rid of the vinyl and go into slip mode
I have learnt a lot from this guy, but I am beginning to question not just him but others like him. If the companies like Denon and Pioneer are providing the equipment for them to review, can we really trust their review when it is not really an objective or independent review?
In a nutshell yes, we have absolutely no advertising or our website and whilst gear is often provided from manufacturers this is pretty standard practice. It's not given for free and it certainly has no bearing on the review itself.

The '808 is certainly an awesome controller!
Great detailed review! Roland puts out some great products.i like the multiple mic inputs if a group is performing
Yes, that's a good use case for them.

both my dj 808 play buttons are stuck, my headphone output is wack - i really hope Roland got their shit together and eliminated these flaws
Good job Roland! Was beginning to think DJ expo had nothing being announced
There you go then, a big piece of gear from DJ Expo! :) Are you there?
Maybe guess is this is geared towards the mobile/wedding dj
You got it!
Is it better than the Denon MC 6000

We don't recommend streaming on Facebook Live with any DJ gear
I hope this will not make your computer crash in any way I’m thinking about purchasing it what do you think keep it 1000
There's zero reason why this would crash your computer, unless your computer can't handle the software of course
important question. sound quality?
Highly subjective (of course) but great! Loud and clean :)
It's clear and crisp.
It’s probably Ed Sheeran - Beautiful People, although it‘s not mine ;-) - I am located in Hannover, Germany
What does the compressor do or used for?
Smoothing out low and high volume.
Do the 2nd usb port work with Android devices?
Hi, any info on this feature?
This deck is fire 🔥
Agreed!
Looks nice
Would this be compatible with djay pro from Algoriddim?
Last we checked - no
Can I use the device with Virtual DJ software?
Not as far as we know, but no doubt Virtual DJ will map it very soon.
Do you get affects using the mic
Yes
If it has the same output quality as the 909 you just can take my money :D
Keep the videos coming , thanks Phil
you're welcome!
Can you use an Android device as well? 🤔🤷
no
I bought the 707m today, been playing around with it, I love it but this guy hasn't looked too much into it, the slip button is by pressing shift and hitting the deck button, that'll get rid of the vinyl and go into slip mode
No, that switches from "CDJ" mode into vinyl mode and back, Slip is something else (and it's definitely not mapped, we checked with Roland).
You can't program drum patterns in any way? or load up new ones?
No, it's designed for simple, quick redrums.
How is the scratch
Haven't done much scratching on it to have an opinion
I think that microscopic screen is a problem navigating all its uses. Not my style controller
Can this controller be mapped to rekordbox?
Not something we've tried, I can imagine it would be a massive hassle and you'd lose half the functionality (including the jogwheels)
@@digitaldjtips ..thanks for your response...purchased this recently and subbed to your channel...unit is neat and practical...much appreciated 😁

If you a mobile dj? Your lugging gear into a venue. Why would your controller need to be small and lacking features
What do you mean by "lacking features"? What would you say is missing?
No jogwheel indicator, small pitch sliders...hard pass!👎🏼
I think many DJs will thing that too. However, neither proved an issuer after testing the unit for us.
Pitch is actually excellent IMO
