My family does at least several puzzles per year, all at minimum 1000 pieces (otherwise it goes too fast), and we don’t just arrange the pieces like this, it’s organized in shape and color. We keep boxes to organize those pieces in and so we can pass pieces around easily. It’s a family bonding moment with snacks and conversation and jokes and laughter. It’s the best.

My siblings and I are the first generation born in America. Our grandparents were from the Netherlands. My grandfather took a job in Uganda and my father was born there. Eventually their family moved to the US (I think my uncle was born in Uganda too) and he met my mom. Sadly, my father passed away just before I turned 8. I hope you are doing well♡♡

This reminded me so much of when my Nana taught me how to make flour tortillas and menudo 😂 ‘once you think it’s cooked on that side you flip the tortilla’ *proceeds to flip the frying tortillas with hands* ‘you try.’ I still flip them by hand because that’s how she taught me AND I have two burn scars on my wrist because of it 😂 my Nana doesn’t even measuring anything! My mom's Polish, but she hates making pierogi, only because the dough frustrates her too much, lol. So instead what she does is gets together with one of her friends once a month, and together they make a huge batch of it, and then freeze them. Her friend makes the dough, and my mom makes various types of fillings. I think my favourite one is probably the same one you made here. Can't go wrong with the classic potato, cheese and bacon though, which was my favourite when I was younger, and didn't really like sauerkraut. Also, seeing you go to the deli and scoop the sauerkraut out of a large paint bucket brought back many memories from when I was a kid and went to the deli with my mom every weekend to do the grocery shopping, and seeing at all the pickles they had. I've only ever seen Polish delis sell them that way.

This reminded me so much of when my Nana taught me how to make flour tortillas and menudo 😂 ‘once you think it’s cooked on that side you flip the tortilla’ *proceeds to flip the frying tortillas with hands* ‘you try.’ I still flip them by hand because that’s how she taught me AND I have two burn scars on my wrist because of it 😂 my Nana doesn’t even measuring anything! It’s like ‘that looks right’
Yep. My dad used to get mad at me when I was a kid because I tried to flip tortillas with a spatula. And he always took it away from me and made me do it with my hands 😂

@@marxy1990 Thank you for replying. I have been to Gdansk. It is beautiful. I hope to visit Warsaw summer next year. I did had pierogi here in Barbados. My polish friends visited me here and made it for me in my kitchen as I watch. It was as very kind of them.

My mom's Polish, but she hates making pierogi, only because the dough frustrates her too much, lol. So instead what she does is gets together with one of her friends once a month, and together they make a huge batch of it, and then freeze them. Her friend makes the dough, and my mom makes various types of fillings. I think my favourite one is probably the same one you made here. Can't go wrong with the classic potato, cheese and bacon though, which was my favourite when I was younger, and didn't really like sauerkraut.
Also, seeing you go to the deli and scoop the sauerkraut out of a large paint bucket brought back many memories from when I was a kid and went to the deli with my mom every weekend to do the grocery shopping, and seeing at all the pickles they had. I've only ever seen Polish delis sell them that way.

Okay, can we talk about how amazing Simon’s dad’s puzzle is? Look at his organization of the pieces. When I do puzzles with my family during the holidays there is just a pile of puzzle pieces. The puzzle in this video is soooo satisfying.

I loved watching this video. My mother passed away early on in December, but I was lucky enough that she taught me how to make her meatballs (my favorite thing she made). I wish I would have had the chance to learn more of her recipes. Cherish these moments, Simon. You will remember them forever.
I love your parents Simon. As a polish girl living abroad I understand what your mom feels and about the pierogi - there's as many recipes as there are polish households so u put that jerk seasoning in the filling if you want. Just do you! I missed the craziness and joy you bring to the tube. 💜🌈
