Am from Karnataka and I keep trying songs from other languages. I am not very perticular about any one type of song. All i look for is melody and especially love the songs which helps me connect or understand the local culture. I can surely say, laman band introduced me to Himachali people and their musical culture. This song, kali ghagari and bhole baba are my fav. Thank u guys 🙂

In my opinion what is the actual meaning of song -:
( Piya Na ja Jammu da pahad ) Here Girl wants to stop her lover because he is in the army and he is going to the Mountains of Jammu where ( bunda barash rayiya) bullets are falling like a rain from the guns of enemies .
Bunda baras rayiya means tears are falling
Never thought this could also be the meaning of bunda baras Rayian.... the usual meaning is in reference to the rain but I loved the bullets perspective as well ❤️

As her husband or boyfriend may be he is in army so jammu is very conflicted area so she trying to refuse him to go there as boonda means tears and at the end he die as she was there for collecting his belongings nd knows thats he is no more

Great song! Respect from Nepal. It's a no brainer himanchali, garhwali and high caste nepali people have the same ancestral root. Myself a half Chauhan. We have all the surnames of people from HP.

There is. Amar Singh Thapa ruled places in Himachal for a decade. There are many people who stayed in Himachal and many went back.
Saurabh Sharma, I am not talking about Punjabi migrants or other migrants from plains of India. Here, I am talking about people called as "Pahari." The "Pahari rajputs/ thakurs" of HP, and Garhwal are same as Pahari Kshatriya (Chhetri) of Nepal. Look at the following aspects and you will see striking resemblances among himanchali, garhwahi/kumaoni, and hill high caste nepalese people:
Language: All three languages fall in the category of Pahari language of Indo-European language family. Older nepali and garhwali are almost same.
Facial features and color: Compare a himanchali or garhwali with an Indian from plain, do you see the difference? Now compare him/her with a Nepali high caste from hill, does bell ring?
Surnames: Nepalese hill kshatriyas/ brahmins have surnames like Chauhan, Bisht, Rawat, Rawal, Chand, Joshi, Bhatta, Negi, Rathore, Gosain, Pathak, Bhandari, Ranabhat, Kotwal, Baruwal, Adhikari, Rana, Pamar etc. Do you think they are using those surnames just like that?
Traditional circular dance, traditional attire, folk music, folk music instruments, ornaments, geographical habitat, architecture, army tradition etc.

According to Rahul Sanskritayan and others people from Kashmir, HP, Uttarakhand, and West-Nepal come from same ancestral root. They now are like different branches of the same tree. Have you ever heard of term "Brihat Khas-Mandal"? I can write more if you want.

I guess no we have lots of differences so don't compare himachali with nepails. 1st understand and study about history and languages
+saurabh sharma I am just not shooting in the dark. See the works of historians. Google Dr. Bhisma Kukreti from Uttarakhand and go through his research works. To me, this singer duo looks more like hill Nepali Kshatriya guys than people from UP or Bihar. BTW, FYI the original homeland of high caste hill Nepali people I mentioned, the present day western Nepali hill, fell to then Gorkha (now Nepal) only toward the end of 18th century (1789), just a year or two before Kumaon and Garhwal fell to Gorkha (1791). I am sorry if I offended you. Take it easy brother!
