    It is important to mention that the lateral movement is straight across, not at an angle.

      I tend do the angle thing after the push off. QUESTION: why is it important that the lateral movement stays low?

      @@sycipcroll you're losing your skate energy. Most of the time your legs should be bent and only straight when your body rises to start another kick. So as the video says, it's bend-kick-across-glide-up *repeat these steps. The bend-kick-across-glide is all on a bent leg, then you recover for a brief moment to up, which is a straight leg, and then the sequence begins again.
