The fact that THAT final result came from a random, unspectacular, handheld, daytime shot and nothing else blows my bloody mind. You should have a before and after of just that day shot and the final shot with monster and lightening and everything. Ack so good.
I've been gone for almost 5 years now, busy with starting a career and family. I finally wanted to start catching back up and see what you've been doing. I clicked on this video and to see that you're still doing awesome work. And the fact that I heard "Turbulent Displacement" made my heart so full of joy. "Ahhh, they have not changed."
So amazing and gets the creative juices flowing. I'm definitely gonna utilize these techniques. Shout out to Josh on the behind the camera effort, although I do miss the misadventures of Emily and Josh. I kinda wish all of these mini-films had a thread that tied them together so once combined we'd have a feature of sorts.
I second that!!! I remember the first time I discovered this back in 2010. Shared with many a friends. I vaguely remember them hitting 50K subs, and now they are closing in at 2M subs. It's incredible how we grew with them over the last decade.
I love that you guys are still just hanging out with siblings and knocking these out (pandemic aside). Also I definitely chuckled with the Turbulent Displacement tune, gotta love it!
I don't use Premiere / After Effects (I'm a hitFilm Pro user) but anytime I hear Turbulent displacement in a video I start singing it and chair dance. LOL
@@EricLefebvrePhotography haha! My wife always knows that her video is going to have special effects when I start singing it lol she thinks I’m crazy. She’s missing out
2:51 up until this point I was convinced that you used Aputure MC effect or something similar :D Im glad that after all these years Film Riot delivers the best indy vfx tutorials. What I wouldnt give for a Blackmagic Pocket 6k pro :D
Quality content. I always like when you guys change the effect into something else just to show the variety of what you can make. Really opens the mind.
Man, you guys are great. The short was...well short, but its now one of my new favorites among the recent ones. This was a cool episode. Emily is amazing as always.
The set extension with the castle you showed at 14:00 was far more impressive than I was expecting o_o I 'd love to see you push that approach further!
Wow this is incredible. I want to learn the very beginning skills to compositing and VFX to understand what everything means so instead of following along, I can adapt to make it my own. Great tutorial as always, thanks!
It's amazing! Yes, with blender, and completely 3d setup you can do it but! Consider the render time and results, this is a better method for a shot like this! Really Great!
Mamma miaaaaaaa! It was impossible to go away from this video! (Why would I anyway?) I LOVE your work, man! That light on the monster 😱😱😱😱😱😱 All I can say is W O W!
Mixamo Tip... If you sculpt any mesh into a TPose Mixamo will rig it. Sometimes its awkward getting odd shaped creatures into a T, but 95% of the time it will work.
The return of the turbulent displacement song has saved 2021 😂
I fucking lost it when that popped up
It truly made me so happy
I laughed sooo hard at that
When he said the word "bend" i was like "could it beee?"
I was not disappointed 😌
I am happy now

Turbulent Displacement!! I can’t tell you how good it felt to hear that again. I read it that way and smile EVERY time. Thank you.
You don’t know how long I waited for you to make a Godzilla tutorial
Me too! This is amazing!
We have really watched her grow up this episode is amazing!
To think that's the same human being as in Teleportation Tourettes ... I feel old.
This was great! The end result looked so good!
Totally! Godzilla and Stranger Things quality. So good
*me when i saw your comment* hey its that guy who does the stuff
@@joellouisfire exactly
This literally melted my brain. I have zero clue how you can be so damn good at After Effects.
ahahah yes ))
Holy shit, that looks phenomenal
Thank you!! :)
Yeah, right?? It's SO good
@@filmriot hi, which app you are using to edit such great special effect, just cant find it on your page, thanks!
@@eqweqwev2572 hes using after effects
I like your tutorial but please make your tutorials little bit slower so we can understand it better.
turbulent displacement gets me every time hahahahahaha woah that made my day

“Turbulent Displacement!!” It’s amazing how lowering the Opacity on the monster did “half the battle”. Nice tip

I think this might be one of your best videos 👀
I literally love how much I’ve learned from Film Riot, you guys are hands down my favorite channel of all time

2021's hottest mix, Turbulent Displacement!
The Turbulent Displacement song is Ryan's largest contribution to humanity. Thank you. Also, more rap songs please!
I love that you guys are still just hanging out with siblings and knocking these out (pandemic aside). Also I definitely chuckled with the Turbulent Displacement tune, gotta love it!
This is amazing... YOUR CHANNEL ALWAYS DELIVERS!
Hot damn! I'm currently designing some monsters/kaijus in Blender, and this just made me all the more excited!
And here I am barely able to model a donut and coffee cup! LOL!
Am I the only one who sings the turbulent displace song whenever I use it in after effects? 😅 ever since the first time I heard it! Lol
Oh you are so NOT the only one!
I literally came to the comments to ask this exact same question. I'm glad i'm not alone

Oh damn yes. Not just in after effects
Ahhhh. Turbulent Displace caught me off guard and I died. Lol. Been a long time since...so nice to see it return.
I'm amazed at how amazing this actually looks.

I’ve been watching Film Riot since the Revision3 days (about 10 years ago) and this is the best tutorial I’ve ever seen on the channel.
This was one of the best episodes and results in my opinion. Love it.
WELL. This just might be the most crazy effect you've ever done (from nothing). This is wild. Obsessed.
I've been watching you guys since 2011. Still the best channel out there for this stuff.
Man, you guys are great. The short was...well short, but its now one of my new favorites among the recent ones. This was a cool episode. Emily is amazing as always.
NOW this video is FilmRiot genuine material. The monster scene looked fantastic.
6:40 Turbulent displacement... now in 3D!! 🤣
Love the tutorial and that Cloverfield ARG Easter egg!
I’m not a film maker...none of this means anything to me...yet I still watched all the way to the end. What the hell is going on?!
Duuuude!!! This is the best Tutorial on TH-cam!!!
You have given me so many ideas. I'm new to following your work, but you guys have really shaped the projects I'm working on. Thank you.
