It's amazing how the tools that are available today could in theory allow anyone to make a film that looks as if there were a VFX studio working on it.
The evolution of film making... No need for the big studios and expensive equipment, just your phone, a capable computer for further processing, time and experience..
Guys are these prize emails real? Just want to make sure. It's hard to tell cuz the channel name is not Film Riot. I got one also and I just want to make sure before I supply details.
I've been following this channel since you were (as I see it now) children. At every stage of production you've grown at the rate I needed for work. Even after landing VFX, sound designer and Creative Director at my workplace, you still enriched me by continuing to grow and share; this I also used outside of work while helping directors with vfx, editing and sound. For some strange reason... I'm probably most excited that you are now Blender-heads. I'm probably a little further down the Blender journey than you, but I still get SO excited that you are now sharing it with the world. Team Connolly!
Great stuff. The compositing is flawless on the Gremlin. Model looks great too (apart from the hair). Got some tips for you guys: Don't parent to the metarig, go through the hassle of adjusting the weights and then parent to the generated rigify rig - just go straight to parenting to the rigify rig. If you do want to change your rig, instead of manually deleting each and every vertex group, there is a little down arrow next to the vertex groups - click that and just choose "Delete all unlocked groups." These things will save you a lot of time.
Nah this video was so insightful and entertaining most esp the music vid at the end. I love how you casually brokedown photo scanning, Rigging, animating and compositing so well in one video as a ton of stuff i plan on creating, Improving on soon do lie in this areas. Made me less afraid most esp that rigging part.
Dude, no way! I was thinking of ways I could put a monster in my film, and then you post this! That's why you guys are the best in the game. Legendary!! 🔥
Jesus Christ, this is equally easy as it is difficult. It's amazing how quick and accessible this has become and the amount of work the software can do, although for a non animator it would probably take me a week to get through this video :P
I've been wanting you guys to in depth for this and here it is!! 🎉🎉🎉 thank you so much! I just want to be decent at 3D and this is so helpful! Been addicted to scanning lately!
great vid! lots of fun. blender has come such a long way. I remember opening it up the first year it was out and it was a joke. now its close to rivaling the big players. im even seeing some Houdini people using it for renders and other various things. Camera tracking is spot on. the sculpting is top notch, the particle systems and fluid/smoke sims are amazing and the renders are looking gorgeous. geometry nodes blow me away too. I just hope they dont start making me log into Facebook to use it. yikes.
Nice use of DeepMotion! It's not in your links, but we have free accounts with monthly free credits so users can test our quality and new features! We have full-body, face and hand tracking from a single video input, with multi-person tracking coming soon!
I really wish you guys would do an episode about shooting stereoscopic 3D, or how to do 2D-to-S3D conversion using tools like After Effects Depth Mapper. Would be great to see a little more about it before the new Avatar movie comes out.
9:15 Someone please interview the people driving by as Ryan photographs a life-size Chucky doll in the parking-lot. 😂 Yes! Yes! Yes! No! No! Oh baby! And, I'm spent.
Wow Grimlins what a computer 3d blender you used wow looks good omg your channel is so much better then ever its wow best film TH-cam channel ever 👏👏👏👏 bravo
This would be so helpful to fully learn for a series I wanna do. But I just dont have the time to learn all that. This looks amazing though and thanks for all this great info
I learned more about 3d animation from this video just trying to figure out how to use polycam to animate some action figures... I think I'll focus on stop motion
just another normal day around the office, ive already replaced 12 mugs, because 1 out of 723 gremlins hate me for no apparent reason, and one of my co-workers is always trying to kill me because i called him big guy 🤦♂
Tried my first scan this last weekend of a Robocop figure I have. Robocop being shiny and chrome covered, it did not go well. I may have also had some of the settings wrong (noob here), but picture a deformed swollen headed, melted feet kind of look and you get the idea. My scan looked like it was pleading for me to kill it and put it out of it's misery. Back to the drawing board.
"Shift-clicking" the edges is not selecting all of the edges like it magically does in this video. Would you mind explaining a bit further how to select all the edges at once? No matter what angle I try, when I click an edge, not only does it select JUST that line, but it selects all of the lines behind it.
@@chagada I ended up just using a 3D scan where I didn't bother sealing up anything. I just strategically placed and angled my camera in ways where you wouldn't see a critical opening, anyway. Its not the best workaround, but it works just as well.
I watch Film riot religiously however can you put down a link who can guide us or me on how to render like step by step . Pretty please with sugar on top
Hello Sir Can you please make tutorial on how deal with undistort and re distort 3d renders basically i have render from Blender which are rendered using undistortion however it easy for nuke user to use it but difficult for after effect user can you please help me out on this.
Just used the texture generated from the scan itself, plugged that into ramp node and used that with bump node to generate surface detail. Same goes for the roughness as well. Maybe a touch of SSS.

@@PogyManTV nice, works well for that scene... also UE5 has some nice material presets, works great especially for single-material objects (such as all-plastic gremlins) :D

I'll be that "anyone" you speak off, soon enough 😁
Literally the only limit is time. That's amazing.

until you actual try it, then u realize that it's still to much to learn

Best film channel there is. Hands down.
I get so hype when y’all drop blender content haha

Laughed so hard at that intro 😂 simple and effective

The twerking part got me! 💔🤣
A man this is so perfect your tutorials always cover everything I need and they are funny as hell
You better also do retopology for better performance when animating something like photoscaned meshes
Please do more like this. Can you do one where you explain it slower and more in depth! Loved it!
Great video! Lowkey was expecting Josh to yell "Punt!" to Chucky before running and kicking it 🤣
I have been wanting to know how to do this for years and couldn't figure it out... thank you so much for this video!
Awesome, and a special thanks for doing it in Blender :D
There’s a future when an Oscar winner will thank Film Riot, Rocket Jump, Corridor Digital and Backyard VFX

That Chucky part reminds me of child's play part I. Really cool stuff man!
Dumb thing to say for sure.
the twerk lol

LOVE USING BLENDER. IT GOT ME INTO 3D PRINTING ANIMATION PHOTOGRAPHY AND GAME DESIGN AND SO MUCH MORE. AWESOME VIDEO
10:45 Josh's sunglasses say Bad Ass, but I think they were Great... Also the rest of the video was pretty good too 😉
That looks amazing - I can't believe you created such a realistic Gremlin based on a small toy - wow.

this is one quality content right here.. ive learnt a lot about animation and rigging.. tq🙏
Bro I was drinking hot chocolate when you brought up the calendar 😂. I was about to do a spit take and burn my legs 😂
So great. I really like that you use blender!
The way the music kicks in 🤣

Amazing, great work!!
wow so much info. I can see how this can become addicting. thanks for sharing. cheers.
Vey good lighting in the Gremlin sketch.
This is some good stuff 🔥😩
Omg I learned blender about 1 yr this one is the best
Next Level! I love it. :D

This is amazing! Do you guys make music videos?
Way beyond abilities and time to spend but cool nonetheless! Love the last "bad ass" bit!
I watched this at 2X speed, and I think my brain exploded.
2:50 use Grid Fill instead! It's much cleaner geometry

I swear I got my iphone for short films and u guys keep posting things that will help 😭🤌❤️
WITH YOUR PHONE??????!!!!!
Because the app for Scan.
Yeah with the app. You can do it with your phone by default and use mushroom when you run out of free polycam scans.
So AMAZING 👏
It would be cool if you could do this type of improvement to mixamo models.
next level guys! Great work. #badass #filmriotfam2022
Awesome tutorial 💯
Can you make a video on how to match any 3d model in our scene using lighting hdri please 🙏🙏
Brilliant!
This is simply amazing.
Awesome episode but is there anyway to it without a laptop or pc with just a phone? Even in different level
Winter is coming❤
awesome vid, thank you
Amazing!
wow, awesome video

Sick!
Superb as always, unfortunately only iPad/iPhone so nothing like blender on those platforms…

Title: on your phone
The video: go into blender now
💀 I swear
Twerking was classes above she-hulk 😂
I love polycam… Just for making models and not doing anything with it after.😂
I watch Film riot religiously however can you put down a link who can guide us or me on how to render like step by step . Pretty please with sugar on top
NeRF is the real game changer
So basically just go to China Town and buy a real gremlin. 👽🤘🏻🤣
Nice 👍🏻
Can you guys make a detailed video on how to capture motion from video using AI and then transferring that data to any model please....
On my youtube I make really dumb short movies and I’ve been learning how to do this so I could throw my friends into space
Superb
And there it is chucky and spike twerking waited the whole episode for it
Can you do this with drawings?
which footage did u use to project onto the low poly please ?
Black Friday is coming up…😮
Im sorry can you go over that one part again. I got lost.
Thnx 👌🏾

I wonder what the people driving past think when they see you in the parking lot moving around a chucky doll...

So where can I pick up the calendar?
Asking for a friend….
But how can you do that cgi movement if you don’t have a computer you just have your phone
Should make a short with those toys. "Boys Toys" funny friend film like Indian in the cupboard/small soldiers.

Not quite as simple as I had hoped.
Could you please make a video with polycam and element 3d
