This video is excellent!!!! I never knew about the glass rear window in the convertible soft top. The "boss" is finally allowing me to buy a Vette. Granted 25 years late for my mid-life crisis. I am sooooo excited and, after a lot of research, am looking at the 94 and 95 Vette. Am taking my time to get exactly what I want. Just subscribed to your channel and look forward to more input regarding the C4's. Thanks!
In June of 2021 I purchased a 96 collector's edition LT1 in eastern Ohio. I jumped in the car and drove directly to Mirrock Corvettes. Mark and his wife Brooke greeted me and graciously spent a good hour going over my new toy & then he spent another hour showing me carcasses and drivetrains of vehicles he had in the shop. One surprising fact he gave me is that he ships parts all over the world for people who own Corvettes. He really is a great guy he's not a salesman he's is a master technician of the C4. I would recommend him as the "Go to Guy" for all of your hard to get parts.
Hello I have 1987 c4 Corvette convertible I purchased a 1990 hardtop. I’m having a hard time finding all the brackets and bolts. Is there a website I can go to thank you.
great video!, now I finally understand how to install my removable hardtop! I think i need those bolts/spacers/nuts that go through the rear deck, not sure I got those when I bought my top used
What about the soft top frame? I have a 92 convertible in need of a new top and I was looking into getting a 94-96 top because of the glass window, but my soft top frame has to be retro fitted to have the 94-96 top working properly, so wondering if I can just buy a 94-96 soft top frame and install it in my 92 without having to modify brackets or anything else.
Not sure if you found your answer the hard way but yes they are compatible. I have a 1990 convertible and MY hardtop is actually from 1989 too. All you'll need is a change in brackets like he said in the video and another person cause those tops are heavy dude. Also if you have a soft-top, id recommend removing the whole thing too cause they start to rot out as the moisture wicks into it.
I'm a newbie with Vette's. What is considered, if there is such a thing, a fair price for a hard top? I suppose wear and tear play a bit part but I have seen them all over the place. Does it have to be OEM to be trusted?
I don't know if you bought one yet but expect to pay $1k or more. It does add value to your car though. I recall someone got "lucky" and got a top recently for $400 but that is extremely rare.
I posted this in the wrong area first and wanted you to see it, so I have a stock hardtop from a 89 according to the vin number on the back glass. I have a 86 Pace Car vette. After I do the latch change out, find the brackets that get welded to the car for the center latch points above the seatbelt area, so the center latching point can bolt into the brackets on the car, I know this, my question is will my stock 86 ragtop still fit and latch down? If not then I think I'm wasting my time on this idea, and need to sell this hardtop. Also did the stock hardtop come vinyled? Mine is before I bought it, and looks stock that way, and has the fiberglass headliner with it. Looks good with my yellow 86 Pace Car. Plz help with this idea, so I can start buying latches and newer hatch for the back. Only thing I haven't found is the bracket that welds to the car at the center point by the seatbelt area. Thanks, David.
Got the center pivot brackets, and they bolt in place of the stock 86 pivot bracket. So no problem there. Also found out mine is a aftermarket top, the numbers on the back glass is actually a serial number of the top. But still a good looking top.
It snaps in, good thing too. Those back bolts are really impossible to find. Also has the stock front latches like my ragtop. No need to change all that.
@@gizzmo5952 I have one coming by freight for my 1989, it has the two back studs that should snap in like yours did, but from the pictures It don't have anything on the front, mine being a 1989 could it be different?
Question: when my top is down and I close the deck lid, it rattles a bit while driving. Almost like the hooks need to be adjusted downwards. Is there an east adjustment for this? Thanks Mirrock!
I have a question. Do the convertible models get the release tonneau button on the lower door panels or is this option only for the coupe? Because I see that 86 to 92 convertible models have that option but 93 to 96 convertible models do not. The coupe models has that option on both panels until 94 to 96 which they only have it on the driver side panels only after that. Can you explain and clarify this information with me? Thank you
Coupes have a rear hatch release button on left door 84-96, passenger door 84-92, 93 has a hole in the panel with a filler insert, and 94-96 do not have a release switch in passenger door. Now convertibles are all the same except that 93-96 does not have a release in the left door panel. This is covered on our website within our door panel write up page. mirrockcorvette.com/c4-parts-guide/door-panels/
Thinking of buying a 1996 corvette convertible with 6 speed LT4 engine. Triple black car with fx3 and optional hard top. Would you know roughly how many were made with those options?
Hey, I have a question? My tonneau cover won’t open when I push the yellow release button. How do I go about fixing this or how would I get the tonneau cover to open?
Depending on the year of your car there is either a short pull cable (early) or a plastic lever (later) for a manual release of the deck lid at the left and right side latch. Reach in behind the seat belts at the release is in that area on each side
@@MirrockCorvette I own a 1993 callaway supernatural corvette convertible with only 5 convertibles made in 1993. I’m one of the 5 owners in the world who owns a convertible for 1993 and mine is the only black one made in 1993. I did however pull the lever to open up the convertible top but I cannot get the tonneau cover to open up. The yellow button opens up the tonneau cover. How do I go around fixing and getting the tonneau cover to open up?
I just wish they had one for my car in 1989 hardtop convertible on how to remove this hardtop properly instead of talking about how to customize earlier years

Where did you purchase the hard top from?
What a beautiful background! Your lucky to have so many trees and wonderful Corvettes around. 😊
Great video Mark now I know how to take it off. Thanks

#1. Yes, your soft top will tuck down out of the way, the hardtop will fit without any problem. #2. Yes, the hardtop did come in vinyl as an option.

Try adjusting the rubber bump stops on the bottom of the deck lid first.

They can be found on E-bay.

The rear deck lid latch solenoids may be bad or are sticking. Need to open the rear deck lid and inspect the latch and solenoid on each side.
