I can’t believe how good my 2020 RTLE corners even when pushed hard. It’s cracks me up every time.

My favorite midsize truck. I test drove everything on the market before buying one. I really liked the Tacoma for it's mix of classic truck build and modern styling and tech. I really, really liked the fun factor of the Nissan Frontier with it's torquey 4.0L (now going away in the newer gen :( ) and it's very high tactile feel. The frontier feels more like a sports car with much higher precision and feel through the chassis. It was just quite old and missing tech and higher NVH relative to newer products. The Ford Ranger was on paper very good, ticked all the right boxes. In the flesh, it just felt like a decade old truck but without the special feel of the Tacoma or Frontier. It was brand new but instantly dated. The interior had a cheapness to it too. Everything was ok but not great in any way. The Chevrolet Colorado just felt like a rental truck. It wad plasticy and cheap, and it lacked substance and character. It was comfy and quiet, but there was nothing special about it. It at least felt modern unlike the Ranger, but it felt very budget oriented. The Honda Ridgeline instantly felt generations newer than any of the others. It actually felt modern, current. It was also more premium feeling overall and ergonomics felt better. The ride was also vastly better than any of the other options with more road isolation but without the "let's use big, squishy bushings and mounts everywhere" feel of the Tacoma. The Ridgeline both isolated and provided good precision and sense of the road. The suspension felt well developed. While the Frontier was precise and tactile, it was dated and crude in comparison being a quite old design. The Tacoma interior and tech is updated and feels modern, but the Honda interior is more refined, and the Ridgeline in general is quite a bit more roomy. I really like the Frontier's 4.0L (this engine really shouldn't have been dropped) and it's great torque. The Honda engine feels powerfully, more lively, and refined. Plus you can't beat the mpg of the Ridgeline with any of the others. I get low to mid 20s for mixed city driving, mid 20s more consistently if driven lighter. I get 31 to 33 on the highway at 70mph, up to 36mpg (yeah, seriously, avg for a 90 mile trip, have gotten this several times, not just once) if I slow to 65mph. I can tow 5k lbs and get 19-21mpg (55-65mph). Good luck getting mileage like this in any other midsize.
It's super hard to step away from numerous class leading elements and what you get for the total package. Yes, if you really need something to tow more or to off-road more, just buy an F-150. But for a light duty, midsize truck, the Honda Ridgeline is a remarkable package.
The funny thing is the only thing I don't really like about mine is the auto...which they fixed in newer years. So my singular gripe isn't even a gripe anymore.
Oh I do have one more gripe. I don't like that the adaptive cruise doesn't go down to 0mph. With so many other brands allowing cruise to work in stop and go traffic, it's pretty dumb not to have also developed a system that does it.
Now I guess I should talk about safety tech in general. Systems like Subaru's Eyesight is better, and Honda's system feels outdated. It's not just cruise control. It's everything. Collision avoidance, blind spot monitoring, all of it feels like a much older generation and outdated but the level of other systems. When I had my Subaru Legacy, I could run cruise in stop and go. And the collision mitigation was so good I literally couldn't drive into things if I tried (you could floor it in front of a wall and it wouldn't let you go forward, lol). I fully trusted Subaru's system. I don't fully trust Honda's. The blind spot is pretty worthless too. It pretty much tells you when the car is already there. Subarus system would warn you of cars and people far away, well before you were aware. Honda's is like "hey look, there's a car already passing you." Honda's stuff is ok at best. You at least have the tech. However, this is the next big step they need to take for improvement. Other brands like Subaru have far superior systems, and at some point this will become a big enough shortcoming.

@U Betcha No such experience with several years of use. I've had one false reading (road colors/light shadows can trick these systems sometimes) in two years of driving. I had Subaru's system before Honda. For the most part, Subaru is better. However, Subaru's is more aggressive with detection and has a lot more false positives. These systems do figure it out fast enough not to actually do anything. The colors/shapes that made it think there was an object changes shape or you literally drive right over it, and the system stops caring.
Also, there's levels to the warning and engagement. The initial alert is exactly that. It's alerting you to something it thinks is an object in the road or a vehicle you're approaching too quickly. It warns you. It will keep doing this without action too until it determines there's actually an imminent collision. The warning changes visually and audibly, and the car will begin to react. The actual vehicle reaction is configured as a last measure. They really are at the point of imminent threat with little wiggle room.

*I hope Honda FINALLY adds ventilated seats to the 2021 Ridgeline like it has been offering for years on the Canadian version. Why do I have to buy it in Canada for ventilated seats when the USA is known for hot weather and Canada isn't?*

Sadly pickup is the new SUV, sadly all those people who do not need pickups or need them once a year won't buy Ridgeline which would be perfect for them, Nope no its gonna be lifted Gladiator with love activities and natures stickering for the Whole foods crowd and lifted F250 with mama bear stickering for Sams club crowd, because if they can't drive over your car or trough your house children are not safe, theirs that is

Who would? Where did you get that number from? The most expensive one -- the RTL-E -- has an MSRP of $42k. Even then, Ridgelines are routinely discounted $4k. Those who buy them think of the them as a Pilot with a bed. And for good reason. Oh, and while you're at it, check out the prices of used Ridgelines. They hang on to the value really well. Go figure. It's one of Honda's best sellers, year in and year out.
