We have to get over this stigam of loneliness, its part of the human condition, not to mention there is an epidemic of loneliness and as you say we have a society set up for loneliness and where people hardly talk to neighbours etc.
Many many people feel lonely and the shame has got to stop, its made to feel like a personal failure rather than either a natural human experience and also something which is very much a problem with modern day life and our lack of connection and community.
There is no shame and we must get better and reaching out, like you say our society is so geared up to coupledom but you know even the best couples can get bored of each others company.I swear all these podcasts and YT channels people have now is to make up for the feeling of loneliness and trying to have the conversations that are not being had in real life.
Loneliness has been considered an epidemic by the WHO and is growing issue in many parts of the world as people travel more for work and leave their families of birth etc.
One good thing now which I think has increased in recent years are there are more groups for people to meet up with common interests...walking groups, swimming groups....all sorts of groups. In London as well even though it can get lonely at least there are many many things to get involved in...voluntary work is also another good way to meet people and feel useful
