📚Description: The Buckethead Les Paul Signature is easily one of my favorites from the 2010 era. Being a 27" Baritone Scale Length and having an oversized chambered body makes these like no other Les Paul from the past. They are in DESPERATE need of a reissue but I'm just not so sure we will ever see it. In Buckethead production, the very early ones have 5-ply binding and they are pretty tough to find. Most on the market will have the full 7-ply les paul custom style binding. I didn't even realize I was buying a 5-ply one until I started recording... that's a good thing though as I'm pretty deep into this one after shipping it back to the USA from Australia.

“We really don’t need a Bucket reissue…what we really need is another Slash signature guitar or possibly another Adam Jones Silverburst.”
- Gibson Marketing
😂😂😂😂😂 just one more Slash model should do it 😂😂😂😂 Gibson is so good at listening….but I still love em
😂
“Every boomer dentist in America will want one!”
Or perhaps another Joe Bonnamassa signature
Whats weird is your acting like the people who convince people 50k for a guitar are bad at business. They are making money. And i don’t blame them.
Haha you made me laugh. Thx
if Gibson won't reissue, Epi inspired by custom should take a swing at it.
Amen. That's what I want so it not extortionate
Hell yeah
They did the Jerry Cantrell with extended neck length
C'mon Gibson, give us a reissue on these already!
It’s definitely one of those where they let him go because he wasn’t in GNR and had the boost from Guitar Hero 2
They will release anything for a buck. So look for one in non baritone.
nah we definitely need another Slash model
Love these things!!! Awesome vid and killer dk shirt bro!!! Congrats
I want Epiphone to do one. Make it affordable. Something like the Adam Jones or Matt Heafy
14:28, Austin, steaming is for raising a dent. What your fingerboard has is a chunk missing, do not steam it, you'll loosen the fingerboard glue.
Have a Luthier mix up some glue and fine Ebony sawdust, he will clean the area and fill it with ebony epoxy/glue.
Then it can be cleaned up to the point it will hardly be noticeable.
EDIT, what a fantastic Buckethead example, love the figured fingerboard. 👍
Why is it OK to steam a dent?
He clearly stated that he has no intention of doing such a thing.
@@ChrisShortyAllen A dent the wood is pressed in and compacted so steaming will raise the grain. A chunk missing is just missing there's nothing for the steam to raise.
@@ChrisShortyAllen In some instances steaming a dent in wood will swell the wood out to its original shape, literally making the dent disappear. It would of course require finish touchup, but it can and has been done. With a fingerboard, often times the glue used will release when exposed to heat and moisture, so the only time you want to use a lot of steam on a fingerboard would be to remove it.
Just let him do it like he fixed the nut on that 60s SG
5ply binding vs 7ply binding?!?!? That change the tone completely!!!!!!!
Tone binding😂
Nah, the reverse binding, that’s the real tone changer! 😂
It's one louder!!
Most top guitarists opt for the additional inspiration inherent with extra binding. Tone is secondary.
Let's not forget Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains - the weirdest supergroup ever
And one of the finest. I saw them a couple times on that tour, one of the greatest live bands I've ever seen.
So some inside baseball for ya Trog, I was there painting white guitars from '12-'16. It was maybe 13 or 14 I got some BIG SGs sent upstairs with white fingerboard apparently for a sample run of Bucketheads. The pegheads nearly drug on the floor if the booth, they are that much bigger. Anyway as sometimes happens he and Henry couldn't agree on some things apparently and I never saw them again. Not sure if they are in the vault or if they got destroyed, but Jim may know. Great video sir!
I’m glad this one was delivered completely intact, that red switch tip looks so nice.
Probably the coolest signature gibson
Suggestion: when discussing the guitar(s), could you mention the original list price vs. the paid price? It might help viewers understand how much they appreciate in value.
Came to see Trogly stumble through some Buckethead riffs but left slightly frustrated because he actually played them pretty well! I gotta get my mitts on one of these.
His playing has improved over the years hey ?
Love the way you're putting the measurements info on the screen now. The font, size, colour, everything . Right on Trogly!
I am installing a kill switch on my air guitar. Mimic authentic.
Without the coil split you are wasting your time. Go the extra mile.
I think Buckethead is awesome. I can't do what he do with a guitar, so the signature model doesn't mean much. But he's awesome.
Just an extra tip on the arcade buttons: Sanwa sells two different securing styles for their buttons, screw in and snap in. If you do want to use one for your guitar make sure to get the screw style because the snap in style are made to be put into very thin plastic. You would have to shave the wood down inside of your control cavity to fit them.
Now hang on to it!
You can sand a piece of ebony and use the dust with superglue to spot fill the fretboard.
Stew Mac also sells little jars of wood dust for ebony, and pretty much anything just for this repair.
Never of that one before.
Buckethead has an album for you!
Colma: acoustic album
Population Override: Blues Rock
Island of Lost Minds: Noise/sound effects
Enter The Chicken: Metal
Bucketheadland: concept Metal album
It’s been a while since we saw Troglys face but would have loved to see you in the mask and bucket
Playing a baritone always give me a feeling kind of like I've pulled too far away from a drive-up window
That’s me with full scale basses. 😂.
Funny I've been playing a 7 string baritone for so much years now, I try to pick up my epi les paul a d it feels like a child's guitar lmfao
Dude that's a hilarious analogy!.. So many people trying to be funny > so many failed [to be KIND] attempts.. YOU NAILED IT!.. Kudos!..
Nice find!
Buckethead is one of the best live performances you can experience!
sweet. i get to see him this saturday in denver
Sweet, I know that you have been wanting another one for a long time. Congratulations on your new/old guitar day!
I remember when Bucket Head first came along. and everyone was wondering who he was. he's been around for long time.
He's on the soundtrack of the first Mortal Kombat movie from '95 😂
Deli Creeps
Excuse my ignorance but was he in a band of some sort or was he an artist in his own right?
@@PeterMoore350
There were a lot of people that speculated that he was a guitarist with some group. I think he was unmasked at some point. but I never found out who he is.
@@musicauthority674 thx man. Appreciated. So how does one find his music then online ?
Buckethead is my favorite guitarist and second is not even close!
Need a epiphone version of that !!!!
Wow sounds so good! A very cool 2010 Buckethead Baritone LP, thanks to the seller for making this deal work out. Gibson ceramic pups are awesome under gain/OD.
I would like to see an Epiphone inspired by Gibson version of this, with the open book headstock and all the spec's
If you want a robust momentary switch using the same ones arcade games use makes perfect sense. They get beat on for decades and still work well, so anything you might do to it while playing guitar shouldn't be a problem.
I bought the studio from this seller! It’s amazing.
Nothing wrong with Buckethead. He's not trying to be weird, unique or crave attention. He just wants to be himself.
I definitely need to try one of those haven’t come across one yet, but thank you for sharing that good for you, my man
i just converted a 2012 Squier Bullet Telecaster into a [24 Fret] [28 5/8th] scale length with a Purpleheart Warmoth neck. Small Light Body, modded for one volume, Seymour JB bridge pickup, and now baritone scale for drop tunings.
im very excited because ive had the guitar for years in its original form since i was younger until about three years ago i did the pickup and pickguard/control cover changes, and i sat with the idea of making it baritone for a while since ive been playing 7 and 8 strings guitars now for about 5-6years now so i want that extra bit on that guitar.
These are such awesome guitars. Really wish Gibson would do a reissue. Doubt it will ever happen though
I’ve read that the guitar is XLarge because Buckethead is so tall.🎶🎸
Never let that guitar go!!!! It's such a rare beauty
Great Video. Well done on the kill switch and tapping at the beginning. I want one lol
You need to feature more of these instruments, Trogly. When you play them, I think they bring out the best in your skills.
I still want Jackson to do the Buckethead v.
I'd love that.
HOT TIP! No I don't work for Epi, but I SWEAR by my AMS only (zzounds same co.) Epiphone SG Special w/KILL POT for $179, the most fun I've had in years. I bought it to "protect" my Gibson Iommi SG (along w/Trunk Monkey) but I tend to pick up the sh•tbox more often, the ceramic pups BITE...more FUN for < 2 bills w/rosewood not laurel? LOL !! Thank me later.
Love it ... wish I could get one
That is sooooo cool! What a find!
Change the selector switch knob to a white one like Bucket 🤘🤘
Have to get the No.1 stretch guitar strap to complete this!
Totally. I have one of those… It’s kind of fun.
still have your old one; i had to repair the headstock after it fell forward on a zither stand but it sounds just as good as before. The oversized SGs are also cool, have seen some deals on those lately
Just so happened I finally got to see Buckethead last week here in NYC.
Iconic Guitar - unique player and persona
I've had the studio version since new. Great guitar!
Trogly , you’re a gem and an amazing resource for us all.
Good choice for the strap 👍
The whole point of baritones is actually to be able to tune low with lighter strings since it increases the tension, so a 10 46 set in standard on a 27in scale makes the strings very tight, these guitars are made to be tuned low.
Does Trogly say the strings' gauge? It's 10s?
I'd try 9s for Standard E, and 10s for Standard D.
Now I have 11s on standard D, on a LP Standard;
now it's easy to overbend them since I was using the same strings on standard E
A thing to know about steaming dings. If the wood is pressed down it's good for steaming up. However if wood was chipped off there won't be any wood to steam up.
I don’t know how to reach you but Gibson just released the number 1 , 00001 , first reissue 1959 recreation from 1980 vintage series. It’s been in Gibson vault for 40 years. Anyway thought you might like that. Museum maybe ?? It’s 25k. It’s on Gibson website.
your guitar playing has definitely improved lots
Omg the king of guitars
Good score, man.
I actually like the way the color changes on a white nitro finished guitar over time.
I have no idea why anyone would want one of these. I'm happy for you because I know how much you've wanted one.
Cause it looks cool and you can tune low?
@@the_hippykiller22 I think it matches Buckethead's look, which is clownish.
It sounds Fantastic, 496 and 500 really growl. A great clean example.
BH is Rad!
Actually glad I tried to steam out a big ding on my newly acquired white tele, used a wet cloth over and put my soldering iron on it and voilá. Didn't 100% go away but maybe just 10% left of the intendation (but that tele didn't cost $8,000 😅)
I bought one of the Chibson versions for around a hundred bucks with a broken neck... knowing or hoping it would be an easy fix. It was.
I went and measured it. The body and scale length was indeed the same as my other LP, however the headstock was bigger by roughly half an inch. So it looks bigger in the rack than the standard LP, but it is all an illusion, as it is just the headstock.
I’m waiting for the inevitable upcoming video where a sorrowful Trogly admits that someone offered him a waaay too good deal and he’s packing it up to send out…
Probably the coolest Les Paul
Sounds like big Buckethead fan. I'm also, although lately larger influenced by SMOD. I must go back to Buckethead and remind myself why i like listening him. Recently listening old Queen and Rainbow songs gave me extreme pleasure. With BH should be the same. Great guitar. Sounds more classic than classic LP. That ,,metal rail'' sound is much stronger.
Gibson should’ve never stopped making these guitars. They’re pretty unique as far as Les Paul’s go.
truly a dream guitar for me, though I don't think ill ever be able to afford one
really cool killswitch action man!
Yeah man thats a keeper !!
The guy I purchased my Studio Platinum from had 2 of these Buckethead Customs and a Buckethead Studio. First time I have seen one in person let alone got the honor of playing all 3 of them. If he ever sells he as already let me know I have first dibs!
The dream guitar! I got a Chibson version and it actually is still pretty decent but I'd love an original one! For 8gs you can import a unique Japanese car though 😅
What a great sounding, fun guitar!🎶🎸👍Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to stretch out my arms and fingers. Don’t worry…..I’ll be careful.
How can one man have all these guitars
He has three wives as well. All stunners.
Because he's a guitar flipper.
impressed with trogly's ability to play riffs from the artist, and this time he kills it
Congratulations
For 14 years old the finish is in pretty good condition
Perfect one for his collection, it’s gotta be perfect guys. Any flaws completly over
So worried about the seam line! I couldn’t unsee the fret dent
Sweet!
Hey Austin, I don’t know what it is but I feel a connection to this one.😉Thank you for sharing! 😎🤘⭐️🌅🕊🦋🕊🙏✌️🎉🇺🇸💀
nice mate, congrats
Bucket’s studio work and live shows with GNR was damn good.
He is touring . I am about to buy tickets .
enjoy it
The mention of how bigger people might want these guitars is accurate in my case. I am picky about the size of a guitar due to being 6'7", I often joke that most guitars full like toys in my hands. It is why i mostly stir away from LP's And SG's because they feel small, the idea of a Buckethead LP being bigger considering he himself is around my height. These guitars are a bit more ideal for what I am looking at guitars for possibly in the future.
Evening all!!
I wish somone had speck accurate template of this monster im 6'4" and i feel like this would be a fun project guild for someone my size.
I wish they kept that body size, and made it 1 inch longer scale only, to match the body. They should make these big body guitars in non signature model.
I just like fret markers on the fret board of the guitar. Sorry
I saw him when he played in G 'n R back in the early 00's (I think?). I initially was kinda like 'who the eff is this weirdo, replacing Slash!' but gotta admit, dude could play & I left fairly impressed in the end.
(Early Version Binding)
That is how a real collector says it... 😃
arcade button kill switches matched nicely with donkey kong tee-NICE.
you're using the same knife i use at work to make the money to buy this specific guitar! 😁
cant wait to hear it
Nice acquisition, Trogly! I could kick myself for not grabbing one of these back when they first were issued. Congrats on such a fine specimen!
17:22 about gibson headstock veneer ,is gibson USA and gibson custom shop done differently about the headstock veneer material and the construction, because i saw some Les paul custom model used some type of black non wood material , some used wood veneer, because in that tune machines hole still see that venner black ,or they changed the construction technique or method at one point ?
Long live Praxis! Long Live Bucket Head!! ❤
You've missed the measurement of the bridge.
I guess it must have a wider bridge, AND wider pickups.
Like a Flying V 67, that has wider fretboard, wider pickups and wider bridge than a LP.
So keep in mind that when changing pickups or bridge.
Poly does actually age, just takes more time. My ESP Eclipse from 2004 doesn't have crisp white binding where there's finish anymore, James Hetfields older Snakebytes has also yellowed.
.donkey Kong for life
Loved the t-shirt next to the arcade button (but-ton).
Got my first run signature this week, enjoying working through it's capabilities
Concentrate upon your own.
Wish they would do an Epiphone of this, or just release a baritone les paul with the same size, I'm 6'3", taller in boots, and wish I had something like this.
