Great video and thanks for the depts efforts. Nice to know there are heathy returning spawners especially after seeing the immense increase in anglers there over the last ten + years.
But if you bottom trawl you can take all the fish you want to and waste it, just as long as the lobbyists keep paying the politicians. So the majority of the people that sport fish lose out, Alaska small businesses lose out, but big corporate businesses win. Money in the pockets of the few and too bad the indigenous people that count on the fish for thousands of years. People that live here and people that come here are losing out on a resource that was once plentiful…it’s a disgusting disgrace all based on greed.
Great video. Too bad you guys make fishing hard for everyone and over regulate everything and nothing you guys have done in the last 30years has helped the fisheries. Keep adding more rules, more regs, and make it harder for people to enjoy their time out on the water. Pretty soon you’ll only be able to fish on Wednesdays….
Smdh you do know that without all these troublesome regs there would be no fish? Humans are vile greedy creatures who have over harvested more than 1 species into extinction.
Yea the complete total mismanagement of the kenai kings. Not taking into account ocean conditions (they are biologists…) Allowing harvest of any king salmon in 2021, even though the numbers were very low. Letting over 800 out of state anglers swamp the kenai.. Like I said, nothing they have done has worked. More emergency orders. More closures. More rules. More regs. Less fish. I bet you don’t even live in Alaska….care to provide and facts about the amazing job they are doing?
In 2005 in August just 100 yards from Cook inlet in the Anchor River I caught a female steelhead that would have not been under 20 pounds and again latter I caught a male that would have been 18 pounds in the same location in September.

Care to back that up with any facts or data points?

Inconsistent management. Failure to achieve conservation goals, 60% of the time. 30 years and they can’t figure it out…
