You are so wonderful that is the reason why I watch you in the fact that I love plants and your knowledge is out the window. I choose watching you over a lot of people so don't forget how wonderful you are
Social media isn’t real I much more appreciate content creators that show that they have things like anxiety or getting overwhelmed and they don’t have the Pinterest perfect life. I love ordinary ❤️
100% agree with not glorifying the busy life. I believe completely in the power of the word NO. I like keeping myself productive but I also love the down time. Life is all about balance for sure.
One of the reasons I watch you is that you keep it real. I suffer from depression and anxiety so peppy perfect people get on my nerves and I just don’t want to see that. I’m with you on those channels that they really don’t live like they portray.
I enjoy watching you because you are honest, you are funny and sarcastic- especially on Insta. You videos are flawless! Your videography is incredible. And you and one other plant TH-camr I watch religiously! Lol like I never miss a video. You have a pure heart and honestly so sincere too. Thank you for taking the time to do these videos for us, because I know it takes up a good amount of your time! Haters will always try and attack you because they’re jealous of something they can’t attain that you have. So, let them! 💚
I'm sure putting together two videos a week (plus your other job) keeps you busy, but getting to chill out to one on a Wednesday is honestly the best solution ever for getting over hump day, so thank you! Your channel is one of my favorites (along with youdontevengrowhere, of course), and just this hanging out while you repot is a treat.
I’m happy you’re enjoying the Wednesday uploads!! Repots are fairly easy to film and edit, so I think I’ll be doing a lot more of these repot & chats on wednesdays! 🥰
Am I imagining that this is a new-ish hair cut for you? I am really loving it (what of it I can see anyway) It’s so cute on you 😍 Always a good time hanging out, Charmaine ❤️
Hi holly!! It is a new haircut!! And thank you 🥰🥰 I let my mom go to town and she did not hold back 🤣 you’ll be able to see it more in an upcoming plant to-do video but omg it’s already growing back so fast 🤦🏻♀️
Watching you always energizes me to tinker with my plants some more lol I work from home so can watch throughout the day, however, I don't watch everything anymore. I still love hearing your thoughts nonetheless!
Hey Charmaine 🤍 I love your videos! I have a suggestion because DIY pon is amaze-balls 😝 I’m sure you have a friend with a backyard!! Have a pon making party when it gets nicer out and rinse it very well before you leave 👌
I totally get what you are saying. I don’t even watch reality TV because it’s so fake. I like channels I can relate to. Social media makes people feel inadequate and they don’t even realize that people only choose to share the good and not the bad. Everyone has problems or else celebrities wouldn’t be committing suicide or over dosing etc. Money and fame doesn’t solve anything. My normal thing to do to have a LOTR marathon ( when the girls are with their grandparents)
Rest and self care has been my theme for this year, but its sooo hard for me to slow down, I am really making it my mission to slow down. I would also really like to start my own channel but even finding the time to do that has been a struggle. I hope to reach my goal by the end of the year though!! I totally binge watched The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window, I really enjoyed it and had a good laugh with the introduction of Rex
I haven’t watched the reunion yet!! I’m excited to though. (Also pudge has been taking a break from filming but he’s scheduled to be in future videos! ☺️)
I can so relate to your personality and even your insights about having kids, i know it was a few videos back but i'm a lazy commenter haha. I agree to not glorifying the busy lifestyle, i really value my free time just chillin with my hubby on the couch or just staring at my plants hahaha.
The prop box you stick something in around the 27 minute mark are the same exact enclosures I use for pet jumping spiders. I've used them for propagating nodes and such for ages and I've never seen anyone else with them 🤣🤣 gave me a giggle!
I like your channel so much and watch your vids on the regular. I like that you talked about relatable people you follow, I feel the same and that’s why I follow you. Like I’m literally doing my dishes and watching you repot at the moment. It’s calming and you’re not annoying lol I find people that try too hard to look like they live a perfect life kinda annoying lol 😂 I don’t mean to offend anyone, everyone can do and watch what they like. It’s just what everyone enjoys. Love your videos and I follow you on Insta as well! ❤️ Keep being you boo!
Aw- I’m so happy I don’t annoy you!! I feel like if I showed my face more I could get annoying fast, so I feel like I’m doing everyone a solid just showing a lot of ~chest~ Also just replied to this after doing dishes- we are one!
Hoya Serpens are a bit of a finicky plant. If you really like coin shape Hoya’s the Mathilde one is easier to manage. For Hoya’s i find a good mix for it are Coco coir, warm castings, coco husk, orchid bark and activated charcoal. I love adding the activated carbon charcoal it helps root rot in my soil and mould issues. I just finished watching all your videos and upto date now. I enjoy watching these long videos while i am doing house chores. I understand it can be awkward sitting down and facing straight at the camera while talking. I definitely don’t have that confidence. I don’t mind so much while you are busy moving around while filming and concentrating on your plant chores.
I've heard the serpens can be very finicky! I do have a hoya mathilde and it has been so easy going! Thank you so much for watching my videos and being so accepting in allowing me to film in a style that is comfortable to me. I really appreciate that a lot 💚
That's interesting adding the pon mix to the cup! That's the first time I've seen that lol. And I haven't been in a Saturday chat for awhile, hopefully I will be able to join the next one!
With Myco can it be added to roots that are in any substrate ie. aroid mix with activated charcoal? 🤔 Love your channel btw! Something about the background music is soothing to listen to when you’re explaining every detail of every life event story, repot, rehab, list of to-do things etc etc 🙆🏻♀️🧚🏼♀️🌻❤️
Hi Avi! Yes, you can use myco with any substrate! Also thank you so much for such a kind comment. I'm so happy you're here and are enjoying the videos. It's really special to be able to share my life so comfortably with you all. 🥰🥰
Oh my gosh, I can so relate to what you said about some people wearing their busy schedule like some badge of honor :). I have a friend, and she's always been like that, that she makes it a point to blast it out there how busy she is and how much she's accomplished. I get it, good for you. But I think if it's an ongoing theme, it's not being salty but there are really times wherein you don't want your "lack of productivity" rubbed on your face. And yes she does yoga for breaks lols. I think it's important to slow down, embrace rest and not be ashamed of it. I'm all for working smarter and not stuffing my day just so I can feel productive. I was talking back to you when I heard this lols. Thanks for the company again :).
I think that's what it is for me- it's the "constant" nature of it. I totally get many of us are tired and sometimes we just wanna vent about how tired we are. Or if every once in awhile you want to share how proud you are of something, whether work or personal related.. but it's just the "brand" of influencing where it's this around the clock always perfect always busy never have a moment to myself image. I just find it so unhealthy that people are being influenced to aspire to that.
@@unplantparenthood I hear yah. It’s the ongoing theme. I’m not sure I’ve ran into the never a moment to myself vibe of an influencer yet but definitely a lot of everything’s perfect 😅. It sounds so exhausting though. It’s a performance-based approval of one’s self. ‘Can’t keep going if you don’t fill up. It just doesn’t work 🤷🏻♀️.
Can I ask what is the powder you are putting on your plants roots ? My non English-speaker ass could not comprehend the name, and the auto-generated caption did not help with 'Michael' lol I personally appreciate these shorter videos format, just because it triggers less my attention deficit but I can definitely see why people love the hour + format, you are so chill, simple and really funny. It just feels like you're an old friend
The powder is mycorrhizal inoculants! Definitely not michael 😆😆 I'm glad you're into the shorter videos! I have ADHD myself and can't even sit through one of my own videos without pausing or at least doing something at the same time, haha. Thank you so much for the kind words though, I'm really happy you're enjoying the vibes!! I feel like I've gotten pretty lucky with the people who have been watching my videos because you all make it so easy for me to make these videos. I had crazy high expectations for myself before I started, and (mostly) everyone has just made my experience the complete opposite of everything I feared. So THANK YOU for being here!!
I had a question in to you about what your rooting hormone mixture ration was and then you said it here! Yay! Also I think the phrase you were looking for was "Soldier on". Your nail color makes me so happy and your voice is soothing and lovely without being soporific like mine tends to be. And yes, the glorification of working to exhaustion is so damaging to our individual and collective physical and mental health. We need rest and recovery time! I hope you're able to work in a little more into your life. I love the Wednesday videos, but not at the expense of your joy so please, please drop them or skip a few when you're feeling overwhelmed. We will 100% survive (though I know when it's part of your income, it's not all about us.) Anyways, you are a delight!
This comment made my whole night 🥺 I watch a lot of TH-cam videos but rarely comment, so it just makes me feel all fuzzy when someone takes time out of their day to say something so sweet. So thank you for sharing your kindness- it is SO appreciated around here. I'm really happy that you're enjoying the videos!! Makes all the long days and nights really worth it honestly. But I do plan on working more rest and mental health days into my schedule as a priority! As we all should. Thank you for being here and for supporting me and Pudge's little channel! ♥️
As someone that’s working a field where people PRIDE themselves on working to the brink of exhaustion: yes to literally everything you just said 😤 Why is it a good thing to work to the point of burnout? And when you REALLY think about it… isn’t that exactly how a corporation would want you to think? To prioritize work above all else? 🤔 also unfollowing all those “lifestyle aspiration” type channels was one of the best decisions I’ve made and I think that’s why so many people love your videos! Of course there’s beautiful plants but you show us EVERYTHING, not just the fabulous plants doing well
I grew up in the Silicon Valley and I feel like the culture there was so toxic- it’s like only the hardest working and the most constantly working are successful. And I mean considering the cost of living there I kind of understand why, but I just can’t jive with it. In my early 20’s I thrived off of the lifestyle of all work no sleep but got very little payoff.. and now that I’m in my 30’s I’m like heck to the eff no I cannot live this way 🤣 but with apps now like tiktok I feel like this notion of WORK MORE MORE MORE is just being thrown at me left and right and I’m so frickin sick of it. It’s such an unhealthy message and it took way too long for me to realize it 🤦🏻♀️
Hiii quick question: I noticed for the last plant you potted, the roots are placed pretty low in the vessel. Where would the water line be in that case? Do you leave a reservoir at all? Thank you, I love your channel, I'm learning so much by watching you 😘
Hi!! I actually fill it until it hits right where the roots are sitting on the substrate and sometimes even an inch above. My rule of thumb is to typically submerge 1/4 of the substrate in the vessel. I'm happy you're learning here!! 🥰
Hi Sharmin, lovely video! Like the repot set up you did for your philo verrucusum. I potted mine in aroid mix in clay pot, but it needs a lot more water and the new leaf is small and dying. I think I need to may be transfer her into a similar set up. Thanks for sharing and happy growing. May I ask where did you imported from your A.christalynum black ?
Hi Mary! I would definitely recommend using a plastic pot for your verrucosum, especially if it is rehabbing. Since clay is porous, it’ll dry out a lot faster. Also, I imported my crystallinum black from ecuagenera! 💖
I am so glad you said what you said on this video. I hate you tubers that always talk about depression. And you tubers that always ask for money. And one last think You tubers that give you the fake smile and are giggly. Sorry.🤭. Love all your videos and the way you are.
I love hearing your thoughts on mental health and burnout. I definitely wish we didn’t glorify the “grind” and had some priorities for self care or even just dicking around being lazy… and yes, the IG yoga meditation tea nonsense seems super fake. I’m certain those ppl lay on the couch and watch Netflix for 4 hours eating chips sometimes like the rest of us
Rewatching this for the nth time. I've just repotted lots of plants yesterday and today. Thanks for the inspiration 😍 BTW,where did you get those tall, transparent plastic planters that you used on the hoyas?
Aw thank you so much! I'm happy you enjoy these repots because they're probably my favourite kind of video to film. The plastic planters are actually just dessert cups from the dollar store! It's in the party aisle. :)
I love euphoria anddd the girl in the window across from the girl in the shslajfiskaka ya that one. Was really good. Also you should watch the one calleddddd in from the cold. I had to go look it up lol but that was good too! Also on “big sky” and “cruel summer” are really good!
AMEN! I really think this idea that we have to work ourselves to the bone for our lives to have meaning or just to be accepted is SO unhealthy! This definitely isn't a new thing (especially in the U.S.), but it definitely seems like we see more of it just because of social media. I truly wish that self care and just enjoying life will eventually be more of a part of our culture🤞🤞 anytime I see those lists of like the happiest places in the world it's always countries that put less emphasis on work and an excess of money🤷
Yeah! I watch that series in netflix the whole day! Couldn’t imagine that 9yo girls is the one behind it 360 twist i was really thought niel was behind it but then im wrong tho! 😂
I feel like I usually have pretty good intuition (or at least good guessing skills) when it comes to shows like this- but I absolutely did not see that coming either 😂
Hi, I just started watching your channel and love it. I wanted to know if you've ever tried horticultural charcoal to control the algae. I use it, and it works for me.
Hi Elizabeth! I feel like I have much less algae build up in my soil plants since I use horticultural charcoal + activated charcoal in the substrate. But I don’t use charcoal in passive hydro plants and those vessels always have a ton of algae!
Hi Shannon! Without knowing anything about the growing conditions, my initial instinct is that it's potentially a nutrient deficiency-- maybe nitrogen? Also I find that el chocos like regular fertilization rather than sporadic fertilization. You can try weekly fertilizing at 1/4 strength and see if that helps!
I actually sift out all the amendments (I believe I show this process in my soil video!) and re-use them, and then I mix very small amounts of it back into brand new mix slowly over time or use them for my patio plants :)
god do i get you, i have a depressing, messy, ocd, not together life for my age and cant look at all that stuff cause everyones life looks so fucking perfect
And I think that's why I really can't follow those kinds of accounts. I think to a certain extent yes maybe you can get "inspiration" from it- but too much of it and it becomes toxic. It's not for me anymore!
You jsut want to align with things that make you feel good, no question your life. Which why in the hell wouldn’t you? You made me realize a lot when you explained that, why I don’t get on social media. Because so many of those accounts make me “judge” my life. Even if I love the life I live. Because there will ALWAYS be hardships, and it makes it seem fake. Honeslty.
Absolutely Cassie! I think my "ah-ha" moment was when I was in a really really good place- mentally, physically, financially.. And then it took 15 minutes of consuming the wrong content for me to feel like that wasn't enough anymore because I didn't have this this and that which were totally not even on my radar before I had seen those videos and posts.I'm not knocking anyone who wants to share their work and what they're proud of, but I think it needs to become more normal to share a healthy balance of that PLUS the reality of life. Social media platforms like Instagram and TH-cam are really special places for me in a way because I've met some absolutely wonderful people, but too much of it and I can end up in a really bad place!
@@unplantparenthood I couldn’t agree more! And when we start to judge ourselves and compare ourselves to others we become less grateful and lower our vibrations. Which, unfortunately happens so much within every platform for so many people. It’s almost life we forget we have the option to unfollow when something doesn’t align. I can still see it within the plant community where people try and make themselves seem better than others because of the plants they have. Like they’re plants, if it’s about a status symbol. It ain’t for me. Lol
@@unplantparenthood I’ll keep you updated!! 🤣 I only remembered because I had like the *exact* same shade of blue last week and I wasn’t sure if I liked it or not and then I saw it on you and was like 👀 omg I actually like this color now that I’m looking at it on someone else 👀
I was one that said something about not showing your face. Please know that I was assuring you that you are lovely and have no reason to hide your face.
Don’t worry Janet I wasn’t referring to you!! 💖 I was addressing the people who threatened to unsubscribe or saying they “won’t” subscribe because I don’t show my face. Or the ones who say it’s not normal to have a TH-cam channel if I refuse to show my face. 😮💨
You are so wonderful that is the reason why I watch you in the fact that I love plants and your knowledge is out the window. I choose watching you over a lot of people so don't forget how wonderful you are

One of the reasons I watch you is that you keep it real. I suffer from depression and anxiety so peppy perfect people get on my nerves and I just don’t want to see that. I’m with you on those channels that they really don’t live like they portray.

Love this 😀 ❤ thank you, 😊
I’m so happy you enjoyed it Rynae! 🥰
Your collection are beautiful my friend
Thank you Sophie 💚💚
I love hearing your thoughts on mental health and burnout. I definitely wish we didn’t glorify the “grind” and had some priorities for self care or even just dicking around being lazy… and yes, the IG yoga meditation tea nonsense seems super fake. I’m certain those ppl lay on the couch and watch Netflix for 4 hours eating chips sometimes like the rest of us
Can you tell me what is the stuff you sprinkle on your roots when you repot them please?
Hi Anita! It is mycorrhizal inoculants ♥️
Rewatching this for the nth time. I've just repotted lots of plants yesterday and today. Thanks for the inspiration 😍
BTW,where did you get those tall, transparent plastic planters that you used on the hoyas?
Aw thank you so much! I'm happy you enjoy these repots because they're probably my favourite kind of video to film.
The plastic planters are actually just dessert cups from the dollar store! It's in the party aisle. :)
I love euphoria anddd the girl in the window across from the girl in the shslajfiskaka ya that one. Was really good. Also you should watch the one calleddddd in from the cold. I had to go look it up lol but that was good too! Also on “big sky” and “cruel summer” are really good!
oooh thank you for the recommendations kayla!!
Charmaine, you are the @Dr.PimplePopper of cleaning chunks. Please a short video of you just doing that would be great. My OCD self would thank you!
Your wish is my command!!
Where do you get those square plastic pots from? Those would be perfect for my hoyas!
They’re from the dollar store in the party aisle! They’re meant for little desserts ☺️
What is the purpose of the cup in the glass door??
It's so I can root the aerial roots at the top! :)
But I don’t use charcoal in passive hydro plants and those vessels always have a ton of algae!
can u tell me why my el choco doest grow and when it oddly puts out a new leaf it looses one but i get tat. with othr plants to
What do u do with the used potting mix?
I actually sift out all the amendments (I believe I show this process in my soil video!) and re-use them, and then I mix very small amounts of it back into brand new mix slowly over time or use them for my patio plants :)
god do i get you, i have a depressing, messy, ocd, not together life for my age and cant look at all that stuff cause everyones life looks so fucking perfect
And I think that's why I really can't follow those kinds of accounts. I think to a certain extent yes maybe you can get "inspiration" from it- but too much of it and it becomes toxic. It's not for me anymore!
@@unplantparenthood agree
How do you spell the show “euphoria”? Is that in Netflix? I didn’t see it?
It’s actually on HBO! I watch it through the streaming service Crave. 💙
I actually ran out of stuff too watch, thanx for the recommendation🤗
Hello are you saying orchid/ substrate please share the name
Lol
Put out your videos when you want. Just tell us We’ll be here to watch/talk.
You're so sweet Lisa- thank you for being here. I always enjoy answering your questions and I hope you're learning a lot!
Every time I watch your new uploads we have the same nail color lmao
Twins!! Maybe I need to shake things up to see how real our nail ESP is 👀
@@unplantparenthood I’ll keep you updated!! 🤣 I only remembered because I had like the *exact* same shade of blue last week and I wasn’t sure if I liked it or not and then I saw it on you and was like 👀 omg I actually like this color now that I’m looking at it on someone else 👀
girl just give that plant a board and call it hah
😂
Nobody really lives the lives they show on TH-cam or Instagram or FB. Stay true to yourself 🙂
@@unplantparenthood screw them. Let them leave.
