Stay for 20. I got out after 5 years active duty. I was home six months when it really hit me that I only needed 15 more years to retire, and I would only be 40 years old. Well now I'm 60 years old, and the Navy has been paying me for the past 20 years,... in addition to the previous 20. So far, that's 20 years of work and 40 years of pay. And I'm just over a year away from early social security. Two retirement checks are better than one or none. I worked for the state for awhile. If I had stayed with that job, I would be getting a state retirement now. That would be 3 retirement checks. So think of it like this. Do 20 years military, then work for your state, county, or federal government, and also draw social security. You'll be pulling in 5 to 10 thousand dollars a month in retirement. That's 60 to a 120 thousand a year...in retirement!...and you don't have to work past about 60 to 62 years of age. No Wal-Mart greeter here.
How crazy is that😂 the only 2 navy guys I watch on TH-cam and y’all do a collab! Loved it. Been seriously thinking about enlisting into the navy as an MA as well.
I went to BUDs and finished hell week but got dropped after hell week for failing a certain pool evolution twice, then I went to the EOD pipeline and got dropped from here as well due to a water evolution. so now I am going to MA A school in a couple of days
Wait, what? Your backup contract was IT, and you let that one go?🤯 i was trying to land IT but was not available at that time, so I contract for MA I'll be ship May 16
Thanks brother I appreciate your hard work. Amazing I can't even believe I'm on this kind of s***. Way better than drugs. I still like the beer I still like the herb. Still smoke cigarettes unfortunately. Keep up the good work brother thank you
Is there a divide between MAs and the rest of the navy? Like are they viewed by other sailors in a negative light since they’re basically the cops of the navy?
I mean people won't like you if you're super moto and always trying to give tickets for petty shit but other than that work is work and liberty is liberty
Hey, I’m that one guy from about 2 videos back who enlisted as a STG. Anyway you could do an interview with a STG so I could get some perspective on the job.
He's probably an incessant whiner... Don't follow negative people!! Look at the MA, working out with Ms bikini, if that don't sell you, I don't know what will!!
These seem to be a bit misleading, when you have people with little experience in the rate, like 4.5 years. Why not get those who are trained to promote certain rate and/or programs so others can get the full information. Or at least senior enlisted, like Chief's or above who have lived the life, not just starting.
@@TravelingwithJose Who is they? But, if you have no one who has the experience of years in this rating, or others who are trained to promote all ratings (such as possibly recruiters), then you are doing these people a big dis service. You are giving information and not really knowing how accurate it is. Possible you would better serve them by directing them to seek out senior enlisted in this rating or to go and see a recruiter for information. Although they must also arm themselves with a bit of information concerning the rating they want to not totally be misguded. Social media is a lot of information online, but it does not always be truthfull information.
I'm sure no one would want to listen me as Senior Chief about old sea stories they can't relate to, rather than young guys that look like models (nohomo)!
Jackson Smith he hearted the reply about getting the commission so yeah try going for the officer route. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and you could always go back in as enlisted if you decide officer life isn’t for you.
@@cantthinkofaname7525 what did you end up doing? i’m in the same position, graduated college and want to become an MA but not sure if there is an officer route
This is very important for me so if you guys are still replying here it will be really much appreciated. I currently have an Associate Degree and Bachelor Degree (2 titles) in science of nursing. With this preparation can I apply to be an MA? If it’s the case do I have the option to join as an officer or it is only enlisted for this career path?
A lot. VA loan, GI Bill, veteran status in everything you do in life(companies give discounts for veterans others put veteran applications at the very top). There are a ton of other smaller things but these are the big ones. Also, consider what job you want to do in life the navy can propel you into that job. One of my dad’s friend got most of his electrician training in the Navy for free. I want to be a police officer so I am thinking about going MA as I get experience in law enforcement and college credit towards a criminal justice degree. Just have a plan on what you want to get out of the Navy before you join. Do not join on a whim with no plan this will make you heavily regret joining. Best part is if you love the military you can stay in and do your 20 years and retire nicely. Like I said though bro have a plan on what you want to do. Have a good chat with your recruiter he/she will help you!
@@TravelingwithJose I wonder if this has changed? My son signed his paper work Jan 2020. His contract says 4 years active and 4 years reserve. He's going in as an MA. He leaves March 12th.

what do you mean by "Work for the state"?
I had a job working for the state where I lived. As a state employee, I could have earned a state retirement if I had stayed a little longer.

You go where they need you.
How is the A school for MA??
Do MAs ever see combat?
Funny, Austen barely looks at the other guy, something wrong with him??
I’m going in as a GM and was wondering if MA is anything like GM
No GM's work only on guns.
GMs work the armory for us. They also lug/shoot the 50. Cal during general quarters.
Do MA's have to go to bootcamp or do they go somewhere else for training
They still have to go to Bootcamp. "A" school is at Lackland AFB where they'll train you to be an MA.
