Loads of anchor alarm phone apps. Some of them can text another phone when they go off so you can leave one phone on the boat when you go ashore and know if you start to drag.
Anchor watch initially is a bit scary but in time you relax and trust your anchoring ability so will sleep better. First thing to realise is the consequence of drifting is rarely that bad, secondly our brains are such amazing adapters so 45 or so years back before flash electronics I used to set an alarm for every hour to get up check position etc then I realised my brain was waking me up before the alarm so stopped setting alarm then after a few years I realised if the wind changed or boats motion changes I just wake up anyway so pretty much now I just do a final check and go to sleep if things need attending on the boat my body naturally just wakes up. Its a bit like not wetting the bed you train yourself to wake up when needed. Having said that I now do exactly what you do with the Ipad but only because I can check position without getting out of bed :)
@@charonstyxferryman I really do trust my instincts and experience ahead of electronics. Also electronics can get in the way of developing those instincts. Eric's channel is great EH!

Hello M&N. Not sure why this video is unlisted as it says above but that may explain only 7 views. I imagine you will release it soon. I just found your channel 2 months ago and I just finished the 163rd video in the "from the beginning" playlist. I'll partially repeat a message I left on Ko-Fi....I think you two are excellent human beings who have full hearts, beautiful spirits and an unyielding drive to see your dreams come to reality. I'm enjoying watching you guys tackle the challenges you face together with humor, positive energy and an obvious love for each other. Your songs are fantastic, your love of sailing is pure and I adore you both. Thank you for having the guts to expose yourselves to the TH-cam world. You do it with humility and grace. Lastly I want to compliment both pairs of parents because they raised you both so well. Ok enough for now. Take care mes amis. Tim

Ah thank you Tim! This is so sweet! We are so so glad you see us this way and our parents will be so proud to hear such lovely message from you! Lots of love from us to you too! Thank you for watching from the beginning and hope you really enjoyed them!💞
You are on the right track; developing confidence in the boat. And, I know Nadiana realized the anchor came in hard, we've all done it. But, it will severely shorten a windlass's life to both come up hard and leaving it under high tension frequently. Glad to see you both enjoying the fruits of your labor. For a stackpack, I simply turned the sail cover over, opened the seem along what was the top and followed Sailrite's videos to complete it. As I sail solo I love having the stackpack and not having to F around with a cover.
Just watched the latest instalment of 3 on a cat. The one liners are coming thick and fast the best one was Nadyana saying “ do you like the title commoner sailors “ and mark replying “ comedy sailors “. You two bounce off each other so well as in other comments the love between the two now three of you is so strong. Can’t wait to see what happens next week. Take care of yourselves and keep having fun
I'm glad you are enjoying some non-panic times. Minke looks GREAT! Not as great as Nadiyana though - smart, capable and beautiful. You 2 are my favorite success story!
I suggest you put a shackle on the Anchor between the swivel.... check Mantus Marine for more helpful tips on anchoring. As it is now your swivel is the weakest link in the event of a blow and wind shift which has broken and ended in shipwreck for to many people!!!!
I love you two and have enjoyed watching your adventures on TH-cam. I hope to sail after I retire and you two are truly an inspiration. Take good care of each other and I’ll keep watching

Hi Mark and Nadyana, I enjoy your videos. Once thing, safety first. In the video, Nadyana did aware the strong wind while she was rowing the dinghy to shore. Without wearing a lift jacket to keep you afloat, you probably in a panic mood if you fell into water. Keep afloat is critical. Just be safe.
You guys are doing what I want. All that hard work going to pay off in small chunks for years to come! Enjoy it and one day I'll have a boat and meet you on the water! Frick yea
I love yalls channel. I've fell behind a few episodes and need to catch up. Its been relaxing for me (maybe not so much for you lol) to watch yall build this boat. You guys are awesome.
What an amazing place to drop anchor at the end of the video. The title "commoner sailor" should be reserved for the wealthy sailors that with money to burn. You guys are uncommon sailors living your dream and laughing all the way. Keep the great content flowing be safe and enjoy.
Quite pleased to see the catamaran has what appears to be a unused generator onboard - that will relieve a lot of stress and worry when the sky is clouded over for several days straight.
Visiting lidl or aldi from a yacht is one of lifes little nuggets afforded to few. The mega rich have never had the joy of finding a small socket set for 11 euro . No its a pleasure appreciated by the small boat owner only. Finding an eventual use for the aforementioned treasure is just an affirmation of the skippers guile and cunning for having purchased it in the first place. The boat is a credit to you both.
I can see yoshi having the time of his life, some good deer antlers for his chewing would keep him busy. Got to keep all rubber, leather and material away from him lol he can chew things up. Love ya
Howdy guys and gal, I just found you through Sailing Yaba. Really enjoy your content and laid back attitude. I'm waiting for the fishing rod to off (FISH ON!!) :)

Hi, I've been watching you and loving your videos for a long time. I wish you a peaceful cruise and I'm already looking forward to your next video. Yours, Milan from Přerov, Czech Republic.
27:01 Welcome to the med:) I have been in super tight anchorage with boats super close. In this case though, yeah its too close, either you have to pull on your chain more or yell to the guy behind you and ask him to let go of more of his chain. I have been hit by a dragging boat in Italy once and wasnt so fun:) Be really carefull at sailors that come after you and might drop anchor on your chain and getting entangled. always have to be abble to tell people where your chain is when they arrive next to you. And same be carefull not to drop your anchor on their chain. In Med I use to always do a quick check dive with snorkle to see if my anchor took well. have a blast:)
Hi Mark and Nadjiana-and Yoshi ! Just a small tip get some PTFE aerosol spray and lubricate the luff groove of the mast, you'll have no trouble lowering or hoisting, try not to use on the luff of the sail,if liberal with it for about 12" up the mast the sail will do the remainder. Whilst it is a lubricant do not use on other metallic items you want to stay tight like a shackle or bolt.that anchorage looks wonderful but beware of radical wind and waves on a lee shore then. Lovely to see you both afloat after so long .
You guys need to think about putting on some sugar scopes on the back of the boat Will help you get on and off the boat And would add boyancy flotation and helps with hobby horsing
Around the corner of Marseille starts the best landscapes til the end of the med . Mark , seamanship is law . Act correct . You are responsible for Nadiyana and Yoshy and they are really worth it .love you three
Stunningly beautiful scenery. I've only seen Marseilles on TV and they only show in the city. Nice to see what it looks like there. Thanks for sharing - Cheers ! 👍⛵🥂
Hi Nads, now that you have taught Mark how to use twin props, it might be a good time to practice "Med mooring" with the Minke to a quay wall. You could use the old surfboard or a bit of driftwood as a gang way LOL. Love the pink wardrobe matching the tender. Many thanks for introducing us to WayzgooseWarrior; wonderful videos and very relaxed (No BS couple) Also they show more of Minke sailing than you do ! Great dog; however might be worth watching Sailing Nandji if you are thinking of visiting different countries with animals onboard.........................stress or what!
Ahh, Marseille ❤ Headquarters to Napoleon Bonapartes fleet. Spectacular coastline, check out Marseillan Plage further east and areas especially nearing Cannes/Monte Carlo. Minke will look well amongst the Jet Set. Fair Winds and Happy Sailing all. 🇮🇪
Nadiyana, Bloody hell! Haha. Exactly what my Partner does when raising the Pick. Lol Love it. Guys have you thought about getting a storage box for the Dinghy? I have a water tight plastic storage box that I keep in the Dinghy, I keep extra lifejackets, Puncture repair kit and water. Definitely has come in handy 👌.
Lovely to see u both happy and living the dream, boat looks amazing and Yoshi looks like a very happy boy! would love another tour of the boat to see all the changes! ❤️
Cheers Leslie! We will do a proper boat tour once the summer has officially ended 😄 tune in for that! There are still many bits and bobs to be done to be honest 😆
@@WildlingSailing a good place to repair your boat ⛵ will b in asia...u can try from Malaysia , Thailand, Indonesia n Vietnam..oh n Vietnam make catamaran too.
@@eeteetravelfreely0001 Much agreed... perhaps even India and Sri Lanka too on their way through! However, I do think Asia/SE Asia would provide the best workmanship in the world! Getting up under Minke to do that big repair replacing those old rotten timbers will be labour intense but somewhere in SE Asia will definitely provide the best quality, budget friendly results! Excellent comment ET!
Told you guys when you before you bought the boat that's the one and you're learning it from stem to stern excellent work guys so far I'm glad you're happy that's important. Waiting for the next one
Olá, estou feliz por estar convosco nesta linda viagem de vida. Está a ser espectacular estar convosco e compartilhar esta aventura. Obrigado. Abraços e beijinhos.
I would be concerned about being so close to that mono hull. No matter who might be dragging I would move before a collision happens. I've been in that position and the best insurance is distance between boats. Cheers, S/V Cork ~
@@WildlingSailing I'd say they wouldn't be too happy with you anchoring on top of them. Did you hear words like Merde or Putain coming from the other boat ? 😃
I agree. I'd be afraid a collision would happen before I had time to react. Plus, I don't think I'd want to anger my neighbors by allowing my boat to get so close.
I would get one of those pump up camp showers with a nozzle like a kitchen spray nozzle. Some people use a modified bug sprayer and nozzle from the hardware store. About 4 liters of water and you're clean. No funky stuff.
Pay some pennies and get Anchor Pro on that ipad... or tablet. It's absolutely brilliant anchor alarm :) Edited to add: install it on your phone as well. If only one of them goes off (with the same settings, of course) it's a GPS accuracy problem, if both of them go off, you're dragging. Or just stretching your chain if you set the radius too small :D
@@RichardWoodNZ depends a little - I've had situations where GPS accuracy went down the shitter and it placed my boat outside the anchor radius and kept it there long enough for the alarm to go off. It then ended up improving again and it went right back to working properly. The GPS on my tablet suffers from this more than my phone does, so having it on both allows me to see if it's just GPS being iffy, or whether I'm actually dragging. There is the edge case of GPS being inaccurate on both devices at the same time, but then again, I do sleep very soundly with having it on 2 devices at the same time.
Be careful rowing an inflatable in a strong wind Nadiyana; but you already know that. A wonderful video as always. We've had some lovely weather in Cornwall this week.
Using the dinghy in a strong wind with only oars is a risky thing you can easily get blown away faster than you can row.. and always wear a life jacket in such circumstances when alone.
Wearing jeans is a no no too I suggest.....from a fellow yachtie ;-)

Envy is a terrible thing that's why the 👎🏻
Some beautiful camera work on this one. Really draws a person in.
You guys need to think about putting on some sugar scopes on the back of the boat
Will help you get on and off the boat
And would add boyancy flotation and helps with hobby horsing
Wow...I am no sailor but you looked pretty close to that boat at the end. Wonderful to see you sailing.
that was a good one. keep 'em up I need them. You made many good choices. I anticipate a better anchor will be one of them. Sea you next week!
A Queen Of The Sea…I think…👸🏻🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
You can download an anchor alarm with iPhone there great worries free great to see you guys enjoying your hard work also thank you
Finally! I’ve been refreshing for minutes!
Love your honesty.. love and best wishes to the 2 of you.
They are three ,did'nt you sea 😂
Love the tasteful thumbnail
Stop worrying Mark just enjoy one day at a time !!!
you beat me too it, the anchor is indded onboard! 🤣 It must be nice having more room and a little more stablilty. 2x👍
😂😂 the stability is really such a great change! Especially for me(Nad), not been sea sick the whole time!
@@WildlingSailing Thank you so much for your reply I will be looking forward to it
@@WildlingSailing a good place to repair your boat ⛵ will b in asia...u can try from Malaysia , Thailand, Indonesia n Vietnam..oh n Vietnam make catamaran too.
It must be so nice having a real door that you can leave open and stroll out in to your courtyard (cockpit) of an evening. 😆
It's true! We forget how we used to crawl in and out of the hatch 😂
Yeah they left in a short time! It's true that! I think both of our boats had someone looking out the whole time! ;)
@@sausage5849 😂😂😂 no they are actually very nice. We have apologies first and they were only leaving very shortly so everything was 👍
@@WildlingSailing Also multihulls and monohulls should anchor
with more distance because of different behaviour in wind and current.
I would get one of those pump up camp showers with a nozzle like a kitchen spray nozzle. Some people use a modified bug sprayer and nozzle from the hardware store. About 4 liters of water and you're clean. No funky stuff.
love you guys! what a life you three have...
Adrift is a good movie, watch Dead Calm next... also filmed on the water and a good flick
Words of wisdom, this is good advice.
Even the unpaid version is good
The alarm going off randomly is the gps fail alarm. If you switch that configuration off you can still have the rest of the anchor alarm function.
Yeah I didn't know the force! Now I won't just set off to chase my hat that easily 😂 glad you guys had some good weather 😉
Im your age. Just bought a new motor today, living that hedonistic lifestyle. I'd trade it all in a second for what you guys have. Keep it up 💪
