Thanks for taking the time to share this with the world. It really helped my husband who volunteered to help a friend with her car. He knew what tools to bring, where the battery was located and how to access it. It made him look like a pro and real hero. He was standing on your shoulders, bro. Thanks. Tiny ripples make big waves.
The greatest help was knowing what socket size I needed … had to buy them and also since I don’t have a drill I had to get a socket 6” extender to be able to remove battery clamp .. the rest was easy Peasy .. popped in battery said a silent prayer and vroooom strong startup … thankful old battery cranked my car for a whole two weeks before I was able to get tools.
It's a good idea to leave the negative terminal connected and tight until you've fully disconnected the positive terminal. Everything in the vehicle is grounded to negative. Disconnecting positive first allows the grounding to stay intact until power is drained from the system to help avoid electronics issues. It's only something like a few hundred milliseconds, but it matters with electronics.
Will getting a generic one and installing it yourself void any dealer warranty? I have only had Chevy prior to getting my Hyundai and I read that Hyundai likes to have a tighter grip on things.
What kind of battery do I need for a 2021 Kona? This looks exactly like what's under my hood and my battery is dying and none of my local shops seem to carry a battery for it.
