How To - Install and Setup HM Quickshifter Plus

Kill times depend on where in the rev range you like to shift, midrange will be around 62 and upper (redline-ish) will be around 55 or less! Sens will/should be set on each bike and will very depending on what rearsets (OEM often need near 100%!). Shift direction make sure you select what direction you require or when you down shift it will kill the motor for no reason, also when selecting N some bikes can stall!
As for best settings if your after a clean shift it all depends on where you like to shift, best times for around the red line is around 55ms, mid range around 60-65ms, basically if the bike lurches then your kill time is to long if its hard to shift then it's too short, it should be nice and slick when best sens and kill times are used, try to keep your shifts in the same region of the rev range you can set your shift light to match the shifter then you have a visual of where its best. Sensitivity is different for each bike so you need to set the sens to show SHIFT on the display just as it clunks into gear, finally the shift direction is down to your setup I.e rearsets config, road or race pattern etc, use the one that matches your setup or you will kill the motor for no reason on down shifts.
Ergonomics are a big factor too, be sure you set your shift peddle to be clear of your boot, I set them so they are above the riders boot (if standard pattern) so be aware that boots can interfere with things if its knocking the peddle around... A shift light is a must if racing or track as it gives a clear signal of just that, where best to shift... don't get me wrong you can short shift the HM but it will only be really slick where you set it, if the delay time is long lurching will be worse top end, if its short it will be harder to shift bottom end, the sweet spot is often around 58-62ms IMO for midrange to upper.

I brought an fz1 with this exactly system on from a dealer, the previous owner had it set up to go shifting, so I told them to put it back to normal shift because it's not for me, anyway I'm glad I watched this because I thought it was a up and down quick shifter, but now I know! I'll be changing that tomorrow! hopefully I haven't damaged the box, ah should be okay, I've only had her for a month! well done thou! you've potentially saved my bike!

I have cbr Fireblade 2008 with quick shifter but it doesn’t have buttons for the settings and some how it’s stoped quick shifting up the box now it’s wrong down the gears 🤷♂️ I read something about sensor being the wrong way round where is the sensor? Many thanks

Hey Lamby, do you connect all 4 coils? I have an alpha blipper on my hp4 only 1 coil and it shit itself, I tried to fix it but no joy. So looking at this hm number. Good stuff mate.

Hi may i know why u can’t use the quickshifter for gears 1-2?
i have a 600r and i installed it without taking any fairing out. i pretty much went through the side of the fairing and had my girlfriend little hands connect everything but now i don't know were to use the ground wire? is there anywhere i can ground it by the shift rod area?
Hi John, you need a good earth, is there anywhere on the frame you ground it? Or you could perhaps on the engine... Ideally though I would remove the seat and ground back to the battery do it properly and then you don't have to worry
I have had one installed for few months and have been using it most of the time. The other day. When I shifted up my gearbox grind bad. Any reason because of this?
How was it working up until the bad shift? If it's been fine and fine since could have been just been a one off.. I would keep my eye on it, if anything on the setup will be to short a kill time I suspect

hi i have a 2009 R1 and hm fitted and set up my hm plus and never said anything about not quichshifting between 1st and 2nd! so i have been for a while now. it seems to shift ok like all the other gears. could i have damaged the box?

Hi is this quick shifter can shift the gears up and down without using the clutch? or just shifting up?
do you know any brand can do shifting on both sides without using the clutch?
do i need to send it to the dyno or just plug and play by using the manufacturing setup?

Hi moon light, it's for ups hitting only which I think all quickshifter are unless you have a ride by wire throttle. You need to blip the throttle to downshift without the clutch and any bike with a cable throttle it won't work.. Think there is a downshift blipper out there as a separate unit... Try a Google

***** yes, i installed bazzaz quick shifter and its so great till now. Regarding shifting up and down i found a company using the shifter up and down for TT race it quite expensive but all TT racer liked it.

I got mine installed and all. But it won't have a shift light unless I have it on 100 sensitive but my shift lever still isn't sensaticr it's axtully perfect but why 100 that's a bit too high I tried 50-70-80 nothing just 100
Hmm that's not right.. Mine was on 60. Do you have a lot of play in your linkage?
What do you mean by play? It's not loose? Like honestly. The 100 sensitivity I love it. But at 4-5k it lurks like it jumps tiny bit. So u have a email I can send u how i have it?
can you tell me if this device wears the clutch?
No it doesn't even use the clutch, if it not setup correctly can damage the gear box but clutch isn't even touched
+Lamb Chop Rides I know that guicshifter doesn't ha e anything to do with the clutch. it has something to do with the ignition - it makes the engine not working just for a few milliseconds just to let the gear to engage without using the clutch. but when the power kicks back in it makes the clutch to slip and that is where the wearing of it comes from or atleas that's what I have heard.
No the clutch won't slip (unless it's worn anyway) no need to worry about that :)

+Miguel Silva personally after trying other makes I would get the Translogic shifter with the pc5 or get the pc with the qs addon as they use the Translogic unit as stock. Translogic supply ducati, BMW and triumph the sensor for use on their oem qs bikes so you can't go wrong 👍I have a full review on my channel
OK thanks. I was looking just to add the Hm shifter. If I ad the pcv and shifter do I really need to dyno jet?? I will get mapped for akrappvic and decat
HM shifter plus is mega.. I've owned mines for over 8 years and only really had one problem to date...I've used most shifters over the years but nothing compares to the HM unit... Customer service is probably the best I've ever had from any company... I've had mines on race bikes and road bikes over the years and it's really worked brilliant... Do not buy any shifter unless it's HM RACING... YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED... they can allways be fixed in or out of warranty.. brilliant stuff HM....
Just fitted a translogic Quickshifter to my 2011 cbr 1000rr and am getting false neutrals between 5th and 6th gear, sometimes between 1st and 2nd. Any idea what I could do to fix it??
