New toys make the work so much more fun . Your probably already thinkin about next year and your going to hate putting it away for the winter. You deserve good things and I'm happy to see your doing well over there.
You had me psyched at first! I thought he was actually letting you drive the combine while harvesting! but then I saw you were sitting in the Buddy seat so you got foiled again.🤠
I have a couple pointers for you nobody else touched on. Zero your concave indicator, and level the concave, the procedure should be in the book. That you know exactly where you're setting it. When you grease the cam in the variable speed pulley on the cylinder drive, adjust the speed up and down with the separator running to spread the grease out and prevent galling of the cams from grease not getting where it needs to.
great video Mike. the combine looks good in the field. surely had to feel different after so many years of the previous combine. be safe and see you on the next one
Just bought at 9500, did you have any troubles getting the 915 head to fit the combine? This combine has the 21 spline shafts on the feeder house but the head still has to sprockets, so trying to figure out the conversions. Be easier to tell when the combine gets delivered its 6 hours away yet.
We had a 4420 combine before the 9500 and needed a new grain head so we went with the 915 knowing we were going to eventually replace the 4420. So our 915 head had the sprocket and the 9500 we ended up getting had a sprocket. I'm pretty sure they make an adapter to make it work
There it is, I've been waiting for it. It was worth the wait. The oats look good, the combine looks good and the 4555 always looks good. How big was the smile on your face and yours dad's face once you got her in the field working. Best of luck with it.
Dad looks right at home in his new machine. Don’t you love those two feederhouse shields? They can be a pain to put on. The two u-joints that run the main drive underneath/throughthe grain tank are 400 hour joints. Do them much more often. If those go out it tears out the floor in the grain tank. That are a pain to grease but it’s worth it.
Was wondering why you were not windrowing the straw. We used to bale it without raking if the weather was good. That way kept all the chaff in the bale. Makes for more absorbent bedding.
When the field is all combined we bring our self propelled mower in and hit it then bale it up for straw. This is the first day opening up the field. In the next video I am combining while the windrower goes around
9500 is our main combine. It has 2485 engine hours. Great rigs. No Def and no electronics. Grease the walker bearings every day or you'll sit eventually. If you have questions on the machine, I'll try to answer them.
If your going to do a new headliner in the cab, “Fehr” company is excellent. I think it’s where shoup and other parts places get their cab bits from. Doing some spring wheat here in eastern ND.
@@mikep7810 Better to small than to big, funny thing is its like people think your unaware it will handle a bigger head. Makes ya wanta say "Thanks" I would have never known. 🤣
Good first day, no surprises, no breakdown. Looked a little cautious, not ready to transfer on the go yet. I see "Mikes Custom Harvesting" in the near future.....
You are going to need a bigger head for that combine, kinda like having a 20' head on a 9600 or bigger not enough head for the combine to work! Good looking combine hope it works good for ya!
We just got the combine and the corn head. if money grew on trees sure but this will have to do. We still need a bigger truck. a 6 row planter since we went from 4 rows to 6. Plus adding the tight places we have to get i to the 15 foot will have to do for now
The combine looks like its gonna great investment for ya! Any thoughts on how it performed so far for you guys ? How's the ac nice and cold in the cab for ya ? Wht differences did u notice right off the bat for yourself with the combine so far? Farm on !!
Hey mike! I didn’t see those hats on the merchandise site? Next time I catch you and rob endlessly driving around trying to look busy I’ll hit you up for a hat. Enjoying the videos.
We bought the combine and had to buy a new corn head but we already had the 915. So getting a bigger head would be 1 more thing to buy. Plus to get to some of the fields we do is pretty tight to get to even for a 15
Nice lookin' oats! What kind of yield are you getin'? The farmers I knew in my youth seldom grew oats... exept for feed... Is it a cash crop for you... or do feed some too? Good luck with the new combine... And as always, I love the way your farm looks... Beautiful country...
Good one! Belated congrats on the 9500. Just looking down on the auger dropping gain in the tank, it looked like a very nice yield on your oats. Are those for feed or for the market? 👍🏼
Anywhere from 50-100bu. An acre you’re doing really good. We had a field that did 100bu to the acre last year and Dad said that was one of the best crops of oats he’s ever had.
I run a 918F on my 9500. Definitely could take bigger. But I can still get down the road without taking it off. 2nd gear in good crop I can run fast enough to keep it pretty full.
@@darrellnichols6179 definitely saves time not having to take off an put on the head, if u can keep her full an working to almost max that's where they need to be!
mikep7810 is it seeded down too? That was the only time I ever put oats in if I was putting down a new seeding but then again I haven’t missed my cows one day since they left in 2011 😂😂
That has to be one of the cleanest oats I have ever seen... usually I see tons of weeds and grass popping through. Awesome video Mike
Thanks Rick. I thought they turned out well
Best of luck with your new to you combine.
Thank you Brendan

Wow that combine is differently a big upgrade from old combine. Good job.
Thank you. It did a really nice job
Its going great. if it was 1999 that would be a pretty good sized operation and it still is. Glad you're happy with the combine.
Thank you Serge
Have to get the unload on the go rolling with that new setup you got! Looking sharpe
I'm sure we will in corn
Another great video, 9500 looks good!
Thank you. It definitely did a great job

Most guys step up to a new combine but you guys took 10 steps up! Nice machine!
Thank you. Definitely makes a HUGE difference!
From the looks of the oat in the hopper, looks like you guys got the combine dialed in pretty good. Thanks for the ride alongs. Stay safe.

Your oats look nice and clean! Oats in NY are a good cash crop this year, lots of demand.

Iowa dairy boys run a 213 on there 9500 and they get an endless commentary on the header size every year too🤣

Tons of differences. Better cab, keeps things quieter inside and less dusty inside. Easier operating.
Should be fun to combine corn 🌽 🙃

Great video Mike of 9500,looks like it's really working great! How wide of a head could you put on that?
Thanks Mike. I thought it worked nice. This combine will handle an 18 or 20 foot. We already had the 15
Do you bale the straw ? ALSO Nice. looking machine congrats
Thank you and yes we bale the straw
Don’t know how many acres you farm but why didn’t you get a bigger header for your 9500?

I gotta get all the weight slips and see how they did. A farm a few towns over bought them to make feed
Will you be running the combine now
Stay tuned to the next video!
Gonna have to get a bigger truck.
Its on the list
Our oats are probably ready in about 2-3 weeks.
Hopefully they turn out well
Is that a 13ft. head on the 9500, and what size is the hopper
Its a 915 15 foot flex head. The grain tank on it is 200 bushels

@@donmacdonald7758 No problem Don
Nothing prettier then a big green combine working a northeast field.
Thank you
So how much faster can you go compared to the old combine? Looks like your dad‘s not quite ready to unload on the go with the new combine yet!
We could go much faster than the 4420. There is a lot more power there. No I thought he was gonna unload on the go but i guess he wasn't ready yet
What does your dad think of it quite the upgrade?
I think he is quite pleased
A very nice looking field of oats Mike! Did you guys spray it for anything? How many acres is that field?
Thank you Stephen. Its just under 20 acres. We use the oats to seed over to alfalfa so I'm excited to see how the alfalfa comes in

Theybare getting sold to a farm a few towns over that makes feed
Big girl needs more header
eventually
One thing about it , you won’t overload that machine with that little head!!
Right, that combine is over kill for that head!
Maybe some day we'll upgrade to a 918
mikep7810 gotta fun what u have sometimes... bet it’s a big change from the other one!! Also u have more auger clearance on g cart!!!
Unload on the go
@@benny8300 I was ready to but he stopped. I think he was pretty nervous.
Will you bale any of the straw Mike?
Yeah we are going to bale the straw
Will you come back and cut the stubble with the discbine? I think that head is just fine for that machine.
@@andylieffring3987 Yeah we run the discbine after. This head will have to work for a little while. We have a lot of things on our wish list
Did you get a different grain cart?
I got that grain cart last year. Same one we ran all last year
What is a good yield for oats? i dont know a single person who grows them other than to make baleage.
We only do them when we seed over a field to alfalfa. I thought they did alright

Maybe some day increasing to a 918 but some of these fields we have to get into its hard enough with a 15 foot.
You going to bale that straw
Yes we baled it today
mikep7810 what do you rake it instead of dropout the combine
We run the discbine over and cut the rest of the stubble and that puts everything into rows then we will come and rake it
You need a wider header
Eventually. Its added to the list
Time for a 20 foot head at least and how come you were spreading the straw out you don’t bale that and use it for bedding
Eventually. With some of the tighter fields to get into the 15 will be fine for now. We go through with the discbine after and bale up the straw

Did you ever get the yield monitor to work or calibrated
Not yet. I'll work on that when we get closer to harvesting beans
