TARDIS means time and relative dimension in space, the ship can take you anywhere, anywhen (but isn't always taking you exactly where/when you want) The show is such a joy to watch, so many adventures but mostly it's the characters, the relationships that truly make this show great.

There is a lot of joy, happiness and fun in Doctor Who. But there is also hurt, anxiety and sadness. It's a combination of both those things. It's one of the best stories ever told in science fiction. You definitely should react to this show, it's so good.

Dude...I can't explain fully how much fun is in this show though. It's not all sadness and drama. There's some truly epic writing. Like I love "Teen Wolf", I really do. But I love "Dr. Who" for the sci-fi version of epic writing and storytelling. There's some weird episodes. Some WTF episodes that tie the entire season together. But I am hesitant about these. I treasure this like I treasure certain books. There's these episodes that made me cry frigging happy tears (Van Gogh & Bill Nighy, btw, bowties are cool). And the time they were fighting a multiple day war...and the Dr was cloned into his future IRL wife. Hell, James Corden was punny. There is a lot of funny stuff. It was originally for kids, then more for families to view together. The uhhh, sonic screwdriver changes between Doctors was hilarious. Ginger jokes. How everywhere has a North. So many quips.
Time and space are the same thing so no, he isn't just limited to space. Most antics happen on Earth because he kinda has a fondness for us. And also it's cheaper to film in a quarry in Wales than on Mars. BUT it also takes him to any other planet. The TARDIS takes him to where he needs to go. And it/she is as much a character as any other.
You don't hear much from the 9th, 10th and 13th Doctors in these maudlin videos because the writers of those shows did not tend to write grandiose speeches. That was Steven Moffat's thing, so you see more from 11 and 12 in these. There are others that are funnier and those tend to feature more of the 10th Doctor. But people like these dramatic, emotional ones.
If you want some fun stuff in the doctor who realm, i would suggest maybe some crack video's? Always fun to see ur reaction, hope u keep on loving experiencing them!!!
If you are interested in something a little more light-hearted, look for "Doctor Who | IT'S FUNNY. NO? LITTLE BIT? [humor]" You will get a little bit of an idea of the range in the show.

same thing applies to fanfiction. the best stories are those that make me bawl. that doesnt mean the source series is completely depressing.
I feel like you'd love doctor who, start with the 9th doctor all the way through to the 13th it's worth it
