Like, a kunai looks an awful lot like a trowel, a nunchaku looks like a grain flail, a kama was a sickle, a kusari-gama was a sickle and also a chain. So if some samurai came along and asked you to turn out your pockets, you could just pull out your kama and go "Oh, this is just my sickle. I use it for farming. You wouldn't take away a poor farmer's sickle, would you?"
