Hi, Kappy, Thanks for our Saturday treat. I have become one of your channel's mothers that care for your wellbeing. Please be careful!❤ It is so sad watching these wonderful properties left behind to rot.
Wow. Magnificent place. BB or ski resort at end? Only thing creepy about this place is the creeps that graffiti the grand house. Man that main room with fireplace. Cup of coffee, nice fire and blizzard outside, now that would be sweet 😋 Thanks again Kappy

what a beautiful old matron still wearing her finery even though it now hangs in tatters. Her pride in her beauty still shines through as she she sees herself as she once was as she looks into the mirror of yesterday. Your best find yet thanks for giving us a look into a past that is long gone
Wonderful tour here! We recently visited a historic site with a large old mansion similar to this one, an old vacation home and lands of one of the many Rockefellers. There are rooms outside of bedrooms, like porch rooms, where guests and family could sleep at night with all the fresh air and views. Looks like this has the same type of setup, because in its heyday, there would be many friends of the family staying here. They would want all the private bathrooms and sleeping porches for the guests, and a huge kitchen with the ability to serve many meals for everyone. The men were probably out exploring and hunting on those lands too. Thank you for all your great videos, been watching for several years🌷🐦
There was a PBS program years ago that was about abandon houses that people restored. It was called, If These Walls Could Talk. If only these walls could tell us what amazing things that happened here.
This home must have been stunning back in its prime. The windows and French doors are just beautiful, I can just imagine all the light streaming in while you are sitting there enjoying a roaring fire and the view of the mountains. You certainly find some great abandoned homes!
Wow!! As they say, beauty fades, dumb is forever because the last owners of this beautiful place as usual didnt see the value of this home or its history.Total shame, with all the homelessness,it could have been maybe me ade into something for homeless,or vets,it just us sych a waste ! This was only a month ago believe it or not! I was shocked they still had a foot of snow up in the mountains of New York in April ! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
Those windows on the grand staircase are awesome. Love the stained glass in them. Also love the wood burning stove. That would probably heat the whole house in the winter. Great video.
Kappy, you always show such respect for these beautiful finds. Thank you. I appreciate the time spent on the features and would love to see the light fixtures in these older beauties. Such a sad state. What these once magnificent walls could speak of. Sad too the furniture was left in place. Thank you again for sharing. Stay safe.
That’s an interesting building - It reminded me of more a retreat or luxury dorm than it did a house. I hope they don’t let all that architectural salvage go to waste. Nice explore, Kappy!
This video is a cautionary tale of the wastefulness of conspicuous consumption. The mansion was built as a temporary home and showplace with no thought for the future generations inheriting it and having to pay for the upkeep. While beautiful long ago, ultimately it crumbles and rots. That said, it was magnificent in the day. I love the woodwork and windows. Got a lot of wallpaper screen captures for my scrapbook. Interesting how they broke up the front of the house from the staff facilities in the back, very efficient and I'm sure helpful when they turned it into a resort. Love this upload, thank you as always. 🤗
That’s the reason the typical haunted house is a Victorian era mansion; because they were so ostentatious they fell into disrepair due to the cost of upkeep in two generations and looked frightening.
@@KennyRider137 Absolutely, and after a couple of generations went by the Depression happened and there was no way anyone could afford to live in these old places.
You assume it was just for show. Maybe he had a big family or hoped to have one, and maybe he had guests stay over from time to time. In older times transportation wasn't what it is today. Very often business people would meet at someone's house to discuss business, and stay the night. Also, this house is huge, but not ostentatious. In fact, it's rather plain jane for a mansion.
Yes, you should take the servants staircase down! Yes, I'm the one who is always harping on taking the back stairs!
