This quick tip will show you how to access the new Startup & Repair Preference in Adobe After Effects CC 2023 to diagnose and troubleshoot problems by resetting preferences, media cache, plug-in cache, or bypassing third-party plug-ins.

How To Access New Startup & Repair Preferences:
1. Open After Effects Composition
2. Go to the top menu and click on ‘After Effects’
3. Click on ’Settings’
4. Click on ‘Startup & Repair’
5. Choose option
6. Select ‘OK’ to apply
7. Repeat as necessary

i have a problem on my after effects, the 3d icon dont appear to active it
I’m not sure I understand your issue. Are you saying that nothing happens when you tick the 3D box (which is normal) or that you do not see the 3D box option (Switches) ?
Hey guyI have a problem when I open After Effects and it says After Effects can't continue; unexpected failure during application startup. After updating the new Sonoma 14, does anyone know the solution???😭
I have not updated to MacOS Sonoma yet, but here are some things I would try:
1. Go to your Mac System Settings...Files & Folders and Full Disk Access and make sure After Effects is toggled on.
2. Open Creative Cloud App and check for Updaes under 'All Apps' and update After Effects if available. The latest version is 23.6.
3. Force-Quit After Effects and all apps on your Mac. Power down your Mac. Wait at least 30 seconds and then turn Mac back on.
4. Try opening After Effects.
If you still have an error, uninstall After Effects from the Creative Cloud app and re-install.

Can you just export as H.264? What are you ultimately wanting to do?
When I logged in with Adobe Id it just showed a white screen and was stuck like that for hours
Can you provide more details? Where did log in exactly? What is the current status? What steps have you taken to try and resolve? Have you shut down all apps and computer and restart yet?
Whenever i open after effects something just pops up this notification shows up

I was moving an object to animate from one place to another but it is not moving smoothly like ots having some low frames , what should I do 😕
Happy to help you, but could you provide more details about the exact steps you are doing. What frame rate is your Composition? What do you mean exactly when you say it is not moving smoothly?
@@MikeMurphyCo i have set the frame rate to 25 and 10s duration my problem is i can't animate the object I made using the rectangle tool smoothly that I use to do...I want the object to move from left to right and add a motion blur but it's moving like it's having low frame rate or it's laging when I start to play
@@ksisensei8539 It may just be your computer or AE lagging which is very common. Happens to me all the time on a fast M1 MacBook Pro where RAM Preview/Playback is slow.
Try Purging Memory & Cache from the Edit Menu and Save/Quit AE and restart and see if it improves.
You can also test by exporting or rendering your Composition to a video and see if you are getting the results you want in the video and if so, you know it’s just lagging in playback. 🍀🍀

@@ksisensei8539 Remove Motion Blur and see if that improves the animation speed as a way of troubleshooting. Also consider PreComping layers.
When I add a effect to make edit it turn white and says after effects not responding how do I fix it
I'm not 100% sure what you are describing. Can you provide some more details about exactly what you are doing and I will try to replicate.
Also, have you tried force-quitting After Effects and restarting your computer?
What version of After Effects are you using?
Are you on Mac or Windows? What OS?
@@MikeMurphyCo I’m on windows and I was making a TikTok edit and when I added bcc effect my after effects would turn to a white screen and it says After effects not responding so what I’m doing now is restarting my pc and going to try to re install after effects 2020
@@Yoboyjo Ok, let me know how it goes after restart/reinstall. What is BCC Effect and what type of layer are you applying it to? Can you test it out on something else to confirm if problem is with the effect or your AE/Computer?

when i add my cc / coloring it says missing effects like S_Glow etc
Happy to help, but I’m not 100% sure what you are describing. Are you trying to add custom effects and presets or are you unable to add any effects?
What are you referring to with CC Coloring & S_Glow?

@@lifeofmir All Effects & Presets are missing or just Custom Presets you added in a previous version?
@@MikeMurphyCo yes the custom ones like i added this cc called prism and when i added it it says missing 6 effect and it listed all the affect
@@lifeofmir I’m not sure about that particular 3rd party effect or what steps led to them missing, but this videos should help. I would also try quitting AE and restarting if you have not already done so. 👍

Thank you for the feedback. Adobe released a new panel in Settings called ‘Startup & Repair’ and this 1 minute short was letting you know about it so you could explore and learn more about it. Sorry to disappoint. 👍
When I try to open Adobe After Effects, it gives an error. it says „The application was unable to start correctly (0cx0000142). Click OK to close the application.“ Can you please tell me what to do to fix it? I have been trying for days and tried all tutorials 😭😭
This type of error can usually be resolved by force-quitting the app, restarting computer and then re-opening. But, if you have been experiencing this for awhile, I would recommend uninstalling After Effects from the Creative Cloud App. Restart computer and then re-install After Effects and you should be good to go. 👍
@@MikeMurphyCo I already did all of that. The app doesn't even open. I click it to start and a few seconds later the error message pops up. I don't even get to the editor itself. 😭
@GeoGraphyMaping What operating system are you using on your computer? Is this a new problem? Are you able to open other Adobe CC apps, just not After Effects? After uninstalling and re-installing After Effects are you trying to open from the Applications folder to make sure you are using in the updated version?
Let me know if you are on Mac or Windows and what OS you are using and what version of AE you have installed.
@@MikeMurphyCo I am on Windows 10. I don't have other Adobe apps. I first installed it with the newest version 24.1 and I had the same issue. Then i deleted it and installed an older version, but it still has the same problem.
@@BolganH Where did you get the After Effects software? Did you subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud or sign up for a free trial?

Try using the following keyboard shortcut or go to the top menus and look for 'Settings':
Option + Command + Semicolon (Mac)
Alt + Control + Semicolon (Windows)
