    Thanks a lot ! You made it easy to understand how it works and what it can be used for, excellent demo !👍
    I absolutely want to play with this, marvelous possibilities !🙂

    Excelent demo. Loved the sounds you were getting especially the pinging. Great module indeed 👍

    I was torn apart between this and planar2. The latter seems to be the go-to for various reason, but it’s currently sold out everywhere. I was sold on black joystick because for a smaller rig it seems to be the wisest choice, not to mention that it can droonneee

    Thanks for this. This might be the modulator for my little live setup. I am just wondering if I actually save space over a Planar2, since that one already build in VCAs for example. It's not easy as a euro-beginner haha

    If this module had a reset input, it would be an instant buy for me. I don't understand when modules have recording capabilities but no clock or reset. I mean I guess it's still useful for some purposes but it definitely limits the use cases.

      Don’t worry too much about synchronizing everything ;)
      There’s beauty in chaotic modulation as well. Too many modules already focus on time locked and looped music. Enjoy this one for what it is :)

      @@QuincasMoreira I generally agree, but in a small case where you need modules that work in multiple situations, it weighs on the choice to get a module. If I got this, there would definitely be situations where I don't want it synced, but if I could also use it as a melodic sequencer I could easily justify it taking up that much space in my small case. I think I will probably still get it at some point though.

    • @QuincasMoreira
      @QuincasMoreira 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BeniRoseMusic Use a clocked quantizer! then you get a melodic sequence that varies organically over time :)
      This is modular after all, no module is meant to do everything ;)

      @@QuincasMoreira Hm, but this seems like a design that has been artificially broken to make it not do the orthogonal thing, for some reason, and that is anti-modular! If there were a trigger input and the cycling behaviour happened when it was unpatched (which seems to me like a more “normal” [ha ha] design for a memory element) then this module would become useful in a situation where you wanted more control. And-given that we know that there's a trigger input (not to mention a clock…) somewhere on the circuit board-this seems like quite an imposition.
      I'm with Alarm Clock-as we went into your demo I was thinking “how soon can I get one”, but as this omission sank in I fell back to “well, I'll definitely check out all the alternatives before compromising on this”.
      At the end of the day, a module that demands control of my tempo is not doing a good job helping me express myself, not even if chaos is my goal. I'd have gladly sacrificed one of the gate outs-or even a full channel-to address this.

    • @QuincasMoreira
      @QuincasMoreira 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stephenspackman5573 No it wasn't artificially broken. It's an instrument and the designers made conscious decisions about how they intended it to work. It's not for everyone of course. I for one love it as it is. I don't need it to sync to anything. I have other things for that.

    Great video! Thank you for sharing!
    How come that you have the channels labels as CH1 CH2 CH3 CH3 and not CH1 CH2 CH3 CH4 ?

    • @QuincasMoreira
      @QuincasMoreira 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Yeah, it's a typo in the first run of panels :)

  • @stephenspackman5573
    @stephenspackman5573 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    That's neat! But, well, three things strike me as strange choices:
    1. There's no trigger or clock for playback, even though it seems to cycle, so … it repeats at uncontrollable phases? And there are no inputs at all, so this cannot be addressed in the future. A really strange and limiting choice, if I've understood correctly.
    2. There's no evident mechanism for joining the end of playback to the start of playback, so there's going to be a click?
    3. The X and Y axes mysteriously flip in SNEW mode? Why don't X1 and X2 map to X+ and X-, and Y1 and Y2 to Y+ and Y-, given that they are labelled that way?

    • @QuincasMoreira
      @QuincasMoreira 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1, yes, this is the concept, it starts looping when you let go of the rec button. Not uncontrollable, you control when that happens :)
      2, there is no click because this is CV not audio
      3, The layout in SNEW makes sense when you see the LEDs. One channel becomes Y and the other X, just don't bother with the labelling, works very well!

    i just got mine today and upon turning it on all the X & Y output lights went bright green and and they are not responding to the joystick movements. also the voltage out of those outputs seems to be the max value. am i missing something re:setting up or is it just a faulty device?

      @@QuincasMoreira I got one from the 1st batch and I contacted Erica to let them know about the misprint, Emils from Erica offered to send me a replacement panel with the reprint.
      I told them not to bother as its just a mistake and it would be costly for them if they replaced all the panels.

    Lovely animal sounds in the CV motion record section.
    Now that it's been several months, how do you feel about this joystick?
    Also, can each channel of recorded CV motion be a different length?
    Thanks!
