Your studio is just fine. It is your content and ability to explain the information to people of various knowledge levels that makes your show special.
Private Equity Company … a group of investors who usually have little or no knowledge of how a given business works, purchase a company, keep the existing owners in place under contract while they supposedly learn the business all the while sucking as much out of the business in a attempt to re-coop their investment. It’s all about profit, they have little or no love of the business and they often purchase the business just to eliminate a competitor.
And this is usually preceded by the previous owners cutting costs, including laying off people, to make their balance sheets look enticing to potential purchase by PECs.
I investigated private equity companies that owned dental offices. One area manager had just retired from the corporate side of PepsiCo. They were far from the worse private equity company. I went into one office who only had half the florescent lights installed.... to save $$$ on electricity and the number of lights they have to buy. That's how anal PE companies can be about cost.
Juan, you are the best. I've been a fan from your report on the Miami Pedestrian Bridge disaster many years ago. Bless you and thank you for your years of service.
I absolutely LOVE this channel! .... I cannot support but, I thank you to everyone that does!!! .... Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Merry X-mas to Juan and ALL of his supporters.
Thank you for all the great work reporting on and analyzing all of the accidents and especially the background information you share with us, making aviation safer for everyone involved.
Juan, There is NOTHING wrong with your backgrounds. In the field offices or on the Blancolirio Home Base. I rather like the changes. Long time follower Oroville.
Merry Christmas Juan! FYI, I like your homey background in the videos! It softens up some really tough things you have to cover. On another note, I fly into Honolulu periodically (family). No one has mentioned it yet (at least that I have seen) that the crash was uncomfortably close to the Passenger Terminal as well as the fuel storage. I really would not like seeing a prop or fuel fire whizzing down one of those corridors. It could have been way worse. My heartfelt condolences to the local pilots that lost their lives. It's a close knit community out there.
We absolutely appreciate all the hard work you put into this! I use your channel as a constant reminder just how close and how easy it can be to end up in an early grave with beautiful weather. God bless you!
I watch you instead of pilot detour because I despise the way he sensationalizes these crashes, and frankly, I think your streaming background reflects that difference in reporting style.
Thing is they don't spite themselves; the whole game is to acquire a company, strip it down so that it barely functions, ride it that way until the wheels fall off, then sell the parts and move on to the next company. They're cutting off other people's noses just because it's more profitable that way.
Having served decades in the military, I can say that those with a ton of real service have fun photos on their desks while those with little experience have photos of aircraft and ships and rifle shooting on their desk (and lots of it). It's an indicator when you walk into someone's office.
i lived for 3yrs right across the mountain from honolulu in kaneohe and i can tell you for sure the weather is not much of a factor in honolulu if anything the lack of weather would be more of a problem you might have to build a temp. sun shade.
Hoover is #2 in my list of favorites. He does a great job. But, of course, you are still #1. Of note is that he is reviewing crashes that happened a long time ago, so he has plenty of time to set up his living room for the show.
I loved the collaboration with you and Hoover, I've spent countless hours watching both of you guys ... take the weekend off my friend, you deserve it!
Juan, I don't think anyone is here to check the backdrop ! Everything is fine as is. We're here for the content, as in, your expert analysis as a top notch airman. Carry on as you are sir. And thank you very much. 👍
i drove past the wreckage on my way to chef zone yesterday. i have no idea how theyre going to get any information out of that mess... not sure even the tires were intact; it looks like someone put an aircraft through the worlds largest blender.
I’m really curious for your take on the Oregon unexpected flying things last Friday. The audio is incredible! Seems that if anyone knows what is flying in an area someone should tell ATC. In the audio the pilots say the things are flying at the same level they are. There was an Alaskan pilot with a really laconic voice who would be interesting to hear more from.
My opinion is Russel Royce deserves to be in prison for involuntary manslaughter. I don't think he intended for bad things to happen, but I feel his incompetence and negligence are unforgivable. They have jailed negligent drivers for less. A whole lot of unnecessary loss and suffering happened because of his actions.
I enjoy these videos by Juan Browne, At the end here, Juan says try to keep it between the ditches over the weekend, he needs a break and it's funny. It is. But I try to remember the subject of these videos are plane crashes where there is usually someone being killed. That's why I'm conflicted when I see there is a new video.

200lbs which is close to 28 gallons is the limitation for fuel imbalance during operation. It however does not cause it to be anywhere near uncontrollable at this amount. It barely even noticeable when you are at that limitation.
@ Does the torque of the power unit, the direction of the bank angle and the possible imbalance of the fuel on the same side plus the lower airspeed which normally occurs in pattern work, in addition to two relatively low time pilots contribute?
@@crawford323 P factor (part of the torque equation), slip stream, high AOA & a heavy wing can and do affect required control inputs. Poor manipulation of a rudder & ailerons can result in less than desired outcomes. Not saying that any of this caused this crash. We basically call it a turbine 172 since it’s so easy to operate. I spent many years operating them in AK. Was an instructor & check airman in it. I did see lots of “interesting” things you had to guard against though as the PIC. You see that in any airplane though with new (and sometimes seasoned) people training on it. From what I’ve seen so far I’m at a loss for what may have happened leading up to the final moments. Clint Johnson is a name we know well in AK. His team will figure this out in time.
Private equity company == Asset stripper. These drone TFRs are really funny to see. I just posted about this. It's not like anyone who might have been illegally operating a drone, which I am not convinced is even happening, is going to pay any attention to a TFR.
I wonder if that's the point. Kind of like a curfew isn't meant to catch law abiding people, it makes it easier to determine that anyone there is not lawful. Maybe this just lets authorities declare that an unidentified UAS is in violation and then proceed to down it on that basis.
But they might pay attention to their drone getting blasted out of the sky and then the bad suit brigade doing an emergency landing on their doorstep with $1000 US fine PLUS COSTS and a pair of handcuffs.
Juan: Thank you for the Hawaii update. Alaska has far too much experience with aircraft crashes, certainly of that type aircraft so it makes sense and maybe a shared district? My take on the Hawaii crash was it seems solidly control failure but for a maintained aircraft on the end of a lot of flights, odd. The abrupt transition issues would explain that as a high possible. One of those tragedies for the crew and what a mechanic may have to live with forever. You don't have studio issues, not the area that makes any difference and the best ones do as you do working with what you have, its the presentation that counts.
The NTSB video on raiders was good. Unlike the CSB they don't need fancy graphics to get the point across :) Just kidding CSB people, I love you guys too :)
That's got to be the line the NTSB is working along. The number of people who independently threw in corrosion in a specific component in the wing pretty much the moment this broke seems unlikely to be a coincidence. I just hope enough of the relevant area survived the impact to prove or disprove this, the plane created one heck of a fireball when it impacted so I strongly suspect it had a lot of fuel onboard so evidence may have been destroyed, but it certainly looks like the NTSB has a sniff of something to follow.
I saw a documentary about the Twin Otter crash in Tahiti, extra wear of the (changed by the operator to) stainless steel control cables to fight corrosion, combined with the many flights the plane flew daily... ...how many daily flights did that Caravan take?
Juan.. it’s not hard to get good employees/have them stay. You just need to PAY them. Don’t blame the workers.. blame the rich shit heads who refuse to pay them.

Ahh private equity the death of many companies. They will cut off their nose to spite their face. I feel bad for both of the pilot’s families.

"Keep it between the ditches." The Blancolirio quote of the week. 😎
There were pilots in that Dallas airshow crash that knew better, yet flew anyway. The incompetent air boss shouldn't go down alone.
The P-63 pilot is one of them. You have to fly your plane safely. The pilot is where the buck stops.
